I had Lapiplasty Dec 1 2023 on my right bunion foot. So glad I did. I wear regular size 6 now. I’m not going to lie- while the surgery went well- recovery was long because I developed leg and ankle atrophy and had a limp as a result- 12 weeks of PT! Now zero pain and I walk about 5 miles a day now!!
I appreciate your honesty, and I'm sure the details on what works for you will be helpful to many others. My issue is flat feet and fatigue if I don't have great arch support (and sometimes the squishy ones that start out feeling great don't do as well after a long day). Vionic is one that works well for me.
I'm still a pointed toed 3 inch heel wearer for life. Have them in every color and style known to woman kind, from bows to crystals and mesh.. and yes, comfort is the name of the game these days🙂
While I don’t have bunions I do have arthritis in my feet so comfy shoes are important to me. I love Vivaia shoes, I discovered them on your channel. Thanks for the great recommendations, I’ll have to give a few a try!

As for the Vivaia shoes I have both the square and pointed toe flats and love them. Great for travel, especially if your feet swell. Easy to slip in and out of at the airport too.
I have bunions and bone on bone arthritis in both knees. I really can not do flat...even though I love those silver sneakers. I usually need to add a cushion to them. Not worth it. This is a great, stylish list and I really appreciate it. I still would like to look feminine and put together...sometimes comfort shoes do not look that great! Appreciate you!
I have numerous pairs of OOFOS and can validate your comments. I have hip/low back issues and these enable me to walk pain free. I also just purchased Viviaia boots and absolutely love them.

My bunions are definitely worse than yours but I really am interested in your suggestions. I bought a pair of Calla loafers. I’ve worn them only once and they were wonderful. They are pricey but might be worth it. I’m going to try the pumps.

I'm not sure if you've tried them, but I love Vionic shoes. I don't have bunions, but I have had plantar faciitis, and Vionics helped resolve it. They have so many great styles and every single pair I own are supportive and comfortable.
Every pair of Calla I checked out in my size were sold out. Darn it! They must really be comfortable. Unfortunately without the discount, most of them are not affordable. I will wait for another sale. Cute stuff!
I just ordered the Hokas you recommended on the Nordstrom sale. I’ve wanted Hokas for a while, so here goes! I’m 66, and my knees are not what they were, so I don’t wear anything but a moderate heel, but there are many cute styles now for all kinds of accessions, so I don’t look like I’m wearing frumpy “grandma” shoes!
My left foot bunion looked the same as my grandmother's. It became so painful that I had Lapiplasty surgery. The bunion has been straightened and wearing comfortable shoes has become more important to me. Thank you, Serena.
Haven't tried the Hoka (did I get that right). Plantar Fasciitis so bad in my right foot (decade of hard core tennis playing may be the cause). I love wearing "cute" shoes but just can't unless I slip a vionic insole in them. Vionic makes my favorite loafer: Uptown. Spenco makes my favorite slipper. If walking 4 - 8 miles a day (need to start again): Brooks Glycerin been favorite for about 10 years.
My husband suffered terrible PF pain. He also had to have reconstructive surgery with plates & pins after his lower extremeties were shattered Ina MVA. He found KURU shoes. He can't wear anything else without discomfort.
I LOVE my Hokas. I’ve had three pairs and I like them better than ON cloud. I may get those flip flop bc I have plantar fasciitis and Morton’s neuroma.
I have high arches, a wide toe box and a narrow heels. Fun times buying shoes. Straps or laces are a must. I’m going to check out these shoes, since you’ve done so much hard work for us!
This is such a great video. I have bunions - worse on the right foot, plantar fasciitis, high instep and arches so my feet tend to pronate inward. I used to loathe shopping for shoes but it seems there are so many more fashion options for problem feet now. I haven’t heard of these brands but I’ll definitely be checking them out. My oofos are my favorite shoe ever. I wear mine everday . I went on vacation to the beach an became in a lot of pain with my back and right leg that it was very painful to walk, so I remember that I had my oofos with me started wearing them and the pain a stiffness went completly away !!
Hi Serena. I've had plantar fascists and the foot therapist taught me how to keep it from returning. You need to stretch your calf muscle...just put one foot flat on the floor and keep your leg straight while leaning forward a bit, like a lunge. Hold for 15 seconds. Same with other leg. I also, when I'm sitting, pull my foot toward me and hold a bit. I haven't had a recurrence for years.
@@chrisjenkins414 I’ve had plantar fasciitis too, and I cured it with the kind of stretches you describe and some others. Insoles and other costly devices didn’t help at all, just stretches and ice which cost no money.
I am 77 and have a wider 6.5 foot with bunions. I try to be good to my feet because my Mom had horrible bunions and twisted toes. I Do not want to get to that point. This summer I bought 2 pairs of Aetrex sandals. They are pricey but never hurt the first time. When it got too cold to wear sandals i went back to the same store and bought Pikolinos boots and Gabor sneakers. I am in love. All are leather and supportive for me. I needed to pay more for my shoes.
I’d recommend surgery I had surgery on my right foot last March and now I’m going to have my left one done. The surgery is considered non invasive surgery which was three small incisions. I think I was on my feet after two weeks and I had to where a boot. I limped for a couple of months but then my gait returned. I had some numbness, but now I’m fine . I’m not looking forward to having the left foot done, but I know bunions only get worse as you age.

I have RA, so I have sensitive feet and live in my Oofos, they are my slippers too. I have a son that actually owns a specialized shoe store for problem feet, arches, diabetic, work boots, and specialized orthotics. He has a program that films you walking, posture and your feet and it somehow corrects issues. I can't live without them. I can tell when I don't have them

I love this Serena! If you love your Oofos flip flops, get some of the slippers! I have the OOcoozie Mule shoes and they are warm and contoured like the flip flops. They run wide so just wear socks with them. So comfy and warm!

Also, on one of my feet, there is a little fat pad on top of the foot. Not sure what it's about, but it is noticeable when wearing certain shoes, like pumps. Fun times!!

Serena, be sure to tell your followers who live in snowy areas that boots/shoes MUST be wiped down after being out and about in snow, as the salt or other chemicals used by snow removal teams WILL PIT THE LEATHER. I have boots that are still in style, and in great shape after 15 years…because I always wipe them down after wearing. In fact, I rinse them off, then dry them. Learned that from a shoe repair guy. Oh…an idea. Please do a video on shoes just for flight attendants! You likely live in an area where >€£+a flight attendants reside. Pull them aside and ask about uniform shoes. Fewer and fewer brands make flight attendant uniform appropriate shoes. I had a terrible time finding shoes that were good for work in the aisle…and not ugly! 😂. Hey, a girl has to have her priorities, right? When you are on a long enough flight (over 2 hours), go to the back galley after first service is over and trash pickup is mostly finished, and introduce yourself and what you do, and ask if you can get input on shoes for their job. I’m retired now, but I had a concourse shoe, and a working shoe, as that brake pedal on the service carts destroy the toes of the shoes. Manufacturers have gotten away from producing good basic shoes that have no embellishments, so uniform shoes are hard to find. There are hundreds of thousands of us. That 40/ish flight attendant behind that beverage cart is likely to be in her 60s/70s, (Botox), and needs a good shoe. Best wishes!

@@susiemccoy7 the flip flop is the Oofos one I linked in them description. Yes you can have surgery to fix but the recovery process takes weeks and you have to do 1 at a time (so you have your other foot to use) and I just don't have time for that kind of downtime right now.
I can’t find any comfortable shoes for my mother that has neurography on her feet. She wears tennis shoes every single day and she wears it with her dress clothes. What do they recommend? It’s frustrating.

I tried Vivaia shoes, but I was disappointed as they are so flat they have no arch support.
Also the woven recycled material doesn’t provide enough support around the foot. Sold the pair I had.

Maybe my feet don't look bad from the top but at certain angles my big toe literally looks like it's at a 90 degree angle to my foot!

Oh…an idea. Please do a video on shoes just for flight attendants! You likely live in an area where >€£+a flight attendants reside. Pull them aside and ask about uniform shoes. Fewer and fewer brands make flight attendant uniform appropriate shoes. I had a terrible time finding shoes that were good for work in the aisle…and not ugly! 😂. Hey, a girl has to have her priorities, right? When you are on a long enough flight (over 2 hours), go to the back galley after first service is over and trash pickup is mostly finished, and introduce yourself and what you do, and ask if you can get input on shoes for their job. I’m retired now, but I had a concourse shoe, and a working shoe, as that brake pedal on the service carts destroy the toes of the shoes. Manufacturers have gotten away from producing good basic shoes that have no embellishments, so uniform shoes are hard to find. There are hundreds of thousands of us. That 40/ish flight attendant behind that beverage cart is likely to be in her 60s/70s, (Botox), and needs a good shoe. Best wishes!

Yes you can have surgery to fix but the recovery process takes weeks and you have to do 1 at a time (so you have your other foot to use) and I just don't have time for that kind of downtime right now.
How about if you have big feet and bunions like a nine.5 wide

I can’t find any comfortable shoes for my mother that has neurography on her feet. She wears tennis shoes every single day and she wears it with her dress clothes. What do they recommend? It’s frustrating.
