Cut the liver into stripes, cubes, chunks, what you prefer. 2. Cute one to two onions in cubes. 3. Cook the onions in a pan with butter. (Butter is very important, oil doesn't taste as good) 4. I love basmati rice with it , or garlic bread . Side note : don’t coat the liver in any flower , just enough oil to over it almost completely yet giving it a little breathing space at the top . Keep flipping them . They are very tiny and do not need a very long time to cook !
Liver & Onions: While bacon is frying in a large skillet, cut the liver into say 1" chunks dredge lightly in flour. When bacon is done remove & set aside, leave enough fat in the pan to lightly brown the liver (it'll get tough if you over cook) set aside, brown sliced onions, add water scrape up the brown bits from bottom of the pan. I absolutely love liver but that might be because I’m South African and we eat the whole cow literally. But we usually season it very well ,fry it in onions and add a bit of red wine and cook it medium rare.
Liver is better when you cut it into small strips before you bread it and cook it. It gets rid of that odd chewy texture. Also, if you cut it while it's still pretty frozen, it's not as gross and slimy to touch. You just have to work really fast because it defrosts pretty quick with the heat from your hands lol. I learned to love weird foods from my grandmother. And liver was one of them. When it's cooked right, it's actually pretty good. It is just a lot of work to prepare it properly, and that's why I only eat it on special occasions. I don't blame you for wanting to go through that process again 😂
Wyatt drama king are priceless, remind me of my childhood whenever my mom cook salted fish and rice mix corn ,my tears rolling down my cheek .crying inside because I'm afraid my father will scold me 😂😂😂😂😂 I'm never realized how much my parents sacrifice for their kids just to provide food for their kids, once I'm grow up and start to working I'm get upset and mad seeing my nephew wasting food and never appreciated the luxury they have,I'm thankful for my parents even though they never give their children the luxurious but we are learning something important in life😘😘😘😘😘
Technically health guidelines don’t recommend eating liver or cod liver oil during pregnancy because of the high levels of vitamin A. I’m sure the small amount you had won’t matter but just important to mention. 🤷♀️
Just to add to this, while liver isn't great during pregnancy (Hannah's serving looks like it has around 8 times the safe daily limit), as it can cause liver toxicity and birth defects, vitamin A (in the right balance) is super important for development of many of the baby's organs and also helps to keep the mother healthy both during pregnancy and after childbirth. It's a balance... so, anyone reading this, get your vitamin A during pregnancy, but from reasonable sources :)
Haechan Be My Bride I don’t think Hannah ate that entire serving of liver but maybe some more research into that would’ve been good since 1940s was a long time and pregnancy recommendations have changed a lot since then
My grandmother taught me to make liver with onions and gravy and it taste so good. It’s the best way for me to increase my iron when it drops. She said treat it like an expensive steak. Add some mashed potatoes or rice a veggie you like and there you go a “steak” dinner.
Another way to eat liver is to boil it like a souse (Caribbean style). I usually don't like the fried version because of its texture and strong taste (the rest of my family loves it though) but when it's boiled, it gives the liver less of a strong taste and texture.
I know I'm a bit late, but here at home we loooove livers with onion! we chop the livers in small pieces and then cook them on the frying pan like steaks, and then we fry thick onion slices on the fond that's left in the pan along with a bit of vinegar and maybe a bit of worcestershire or soy sauce (the more onions the better in my opinion) we usually serve it with freshly cooked white rice, it's delicious and not chewy at all :'D you should try it again sometime!
My mum always does liver (lamb because it's not as strong) chopped and fried up with bacon and onions then covered in gravy. I'm not surprised you're kids didn't like it, it's so different to what most people eat and can have a very strong iron after taste (the high iron is why it's still recommended during pregnancy)
So, the cod liver oil from the 40s plan is on point. I took it through my last pregnancy and now breastfeeding. It gives me so much energy and it makes my milk fattier as well. I’m not sure why more people don’t take it. We really don’t get enough omega 3s and it’s so important for brain health!
Liver tip: in my country (the Netherlands), they sell liver as a deli meat. That tastes really good with salted deli meat. Maybe you can find it at your deli?
Italian recipe for cooking liver: FEGATO ALLA VENEZIANA (lit. "liver the venetian way") -liver (I would say 400-500g) + I always buy pre-cured liver so I just have to cut it and cook it without the gross steps -red onion to taste -olive oil -red wine -salt -a cast-iron pan Cut the liver into pieces. Heat up some oil in the pan and cook the onions with the salt in it until soft, put the liver in the pan on high heat to seal it, then add some red wine, some more salt if needed and cover with the lid and let it cook for something like 10-15 minutes on medium-low heat. Enjoy! I've grown up on fegato alla veneziana so I assume that kids like it, plus it's great for immune system and brain development: that's what grandma always said! Lots of love from Italy, Marta.
You should have... Sauted onions in oil, adding ginger garlic paste, let it cook and then add spices and then add Liver and let it cook by adding water.... Believe me you'll love it ❤😘
Best and only liver recipe that I can eat is from my Italian grandpa. He would basically cook strips of liver in a literal bath of olive oil and onions.
I would assume half a cup of dry pasta? Dried pasta expands in size when they're done meaning it is not a precise measurement. Many of the nutritional labels that are supposed to be ''serving'' sizes usually say ''X amount of dried Y''
You can cook it with tomato, onion and bell pepper by cut them in cubes and slice up the liver into thin slices season it with salt and pepper . You can eat it as a sandwich or with Rice.
You need to try and cook the liver with onions and white wine. My mom used to do that and it was pretty delicious. With a little bit of hot polenta on the side, of course. Or you could try Pâté.
I don’t have kids yet but love that your oldest loves veggies. My mom has us eating veggies and we love them. My sister and I would fight over who got the rest of the broccoli when we were younger.
Liver tip: In college I went to a sri lankan house party and had some sort of liver with a decent amount of tumeric in it. Between the flavor and the exotic factor I found that it made the liver a lot more palatable than western preparations. Like... I actually liked it...of their white American guests, I ate the most. Really enjoying your vids has prompted me to finally research what it might have been. I now believe it was karal varuthathu. You could probably soak it even longer and still do the milk wash thing if you wanted to. I'm thinking that the vinegar and multitude of spices help to tenderize it a bit more and kill some of the aftertaste. Wyatt still wouldn't like it, but everyone else might be more okay with it.

Wyatt drama king are priceless, remind me of my childhood whenever my mom cook salted fish and rice mix corn ,my tears rolling down my cheek .crying inside because I'm afraid my father will scold me 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm never realized how much my parents sacrifice for their kids just to provide food for their kids, once I'm grow up and start to working I'm get upset and mad seeing my nephew wasting food and never appreciated the luxury they have,I'm thankful for my parents even though they never give their children the luxurious but we are learning something important in life😘😘😘😘😘
8:55 omfg Jackson standing behind Hannah and trying to be part of the video PLSS LMAO 😭😭
Rosie is adorable and her begging for vitamins is my dog every single day.
Chicken liver tastes so much better than beef liver! Its really good sauteed with onions and peppers
Haechan Be My Bride I don’t think Hannah ate that entire serving of liver but maybe some more research into that would’ve been good since 1940s was a long time and pregnancy recommendations have changed a lot since then
I didn't know that
My grandmother taught me to make liver with onions and gravy and it taste so good. It’s the best way for me to increase my iron when it drops. She said treat it like an expensive steak. Add some mashed potatoes or rice a veggie you like and there you go a “steak” dinner.
Yes Jackson! He got down with any meal given to him. I love it!
Another way to eat liver is to boil it like a souse (Caribbean style). I usually don't like the fried version because of its texture and strong taste (the rest of my family loves it though) but when it's boiled, it gives the liver less of a strong taste and texture.
Jackson after eating liver "that was my worst nightmare" 😂😂😂
Mat is so chill about everything
Me: goes away for what seems like 3 months
Hannah: IM PREGNANT!
Me: ...
“what”
I know I'm a bit late, but here at home we loooove livers with onion! we chop the livers in small pieces and then cook them on the frying pan like steaks, and then we fry thick onion slices on the fond that's left in the pan along with a bit of vinegar and maybe a bit of worcestershire or soy sauce (the more onions the better in my opinion) we usually serve it with freshly cooked white rice, it's delicious and not chewy at all :'D you should try it again sometime!
I'm just here for Wyatt's drama.
Fried liver with sauteed onions is something my mom, sister and grandmother love. Also many other german people like this dish.
The liver looks like the blood clots that you get when your on your period just enlarged! lol
I can’t believe the first meal plan!!! Pregnancy requires so much energy and I’m shocked at the restrictive portions.
Liverwurst, it's in supermarkets too. You can't taste the livery part.
Italian recipe for cooking liver: FEGATO ALLA VENEZIANA (lit. "liver the venetian way")
-liver (I would say 400-500g) + I always buy pre-cured liver so I just have to cut it and cook it without the gross steps
-red onion to taste
-olive oil
-red wine
-salt
-a cast-iron pan
Cut the liver into pieces.
Lots of love from Italy,
Marta.
I get so excited to see Hannah's videos
in the UK they don't recommend liver during pregnancy because of the amount of vitamin A it contains. That meal delivery one looked so yummy!
Do a "My husband meal planned and cooked for us for a whole week"
At 14:32 Wyatt saying "that was my worst nightmare". 😂😂😂
That first diet was like a diet for gestational diabetes’s for pregnant women
Awwww her older son really enjoys all his food 🥰🥺😇
My son is the PICKIEST eater I’m AMAZED at what your sons are eating! You’re way more than just an “ok” mom
14:30
You can hear one of them say "that was my worst nightmare" in the background 😂😂
That was Wyatt😂
You can cook it with tomato, onion and bell pepper by cut them in cubes and slice up the liver into thin slices season it with salt and pepper . You can eat it as a sandwich or with Rice.
Jackson is gonna be the college boi that knows how to cook basic thing bc of his mom but is looked upon as godly
You need to try and cook the liver with onions and white wine. My mom used to do that and it was pretty delicious. With a little bit of hot polenta on the side, of course. Or you could try Pâté.
I visited the states and their regular servings are so huge, probably why they found these portions so small. They look very normal to me
I don’t have kids yet but love that your oldest loves veggies. My mom has us eating veggies and we love them. My sister and I would fight over who got the rest of the broccoli when we were younger.
Why didn't you just do Chicken Liver? It doesn't smell and isn't offensive like beef
Tatiana C The way she talked about it, I don’t know if she knew anything about beef VS chicken liver. I sure didn’t.
