That's really helpful. I want to build a curved viaduct on a garden layout and I could not work out how the arches at the front line up with the arches at the back. This is a great simple way of doing it, essentially having both sides the same. I don't know if it's prototypical but it still looks fine to me.

Ingenious - brave of you to take it apart too👍✌️😊 I was considering using the Metcalfe or Wills viaducts for a small O gauge layout as a scenic break etc🤔🤔😳
I've built a viaduct, in exterior quality foamboard, for a garden - narrow gauge - railway on a curve, the arches, similar to yours, "coned" towards the rear (inner radius), lots of work. It was about 4' tall and 6' long - still there 21 years later👍😊 I've not been "inspired" to do another curved viaduct since 🙄😳😄😄

That looks amazing as a structure. Some great woodworking and indeed, modelling skills on show here, well done, excellent job...cheers, Chris

Excellent job. Wish I had seen this vid before I kit bashed my Metcalfe viaduct as mine is not curved like yours but does have 7 arches. First video I have seen of yours so I have subscribed and will follow more of yours as your quality of workmanship is extremely high. Cheers, Rick the Bulldog

Great video, I like the way you have built around the viaduct, I have gone the other direction, built my tressel bridge to suit, both methods work fine

Great job, modelling a skew bridge has to be one of the most difficult things in model railways, but you have a very convincing effect with your bridge. Keep up the good work, I am a big fan. Thanks, Ronnie (from Scotland).

That's an amazing optical illusion - I keep going to myself "They are not parallel, no they are parallel, no they're not, yes they are! Really confused by what isometric does to my brain!! Oh, great viaduct and video btw :-)

Great kit bash! Any special tips for painting mdf (ie does it swell, do you need to seal it first?) thanks for sharing!

Love the viaduct. A geometric wonder - or is it a nightmare? Really good to see the viaduct separately as it gives a much better idea of the complexity. Hats off to you.

Thank you very kindly. My model making skills have improved over the years, but I still feel there is room for more improvement. A key aspect I have learnt is to take my time and be more methodical with the model making process.

    Hi
I've been looking for something just like this. It's a great build.
It would be good to have the details of how you did it!

Unfortunately I didn't document the viaduct build (no video or progress photos) so only what is described in this video is what I have. But in a nutshell, I first mapped out the trackbed through the area and then cut out a trackbed section for the entire area and secured this into place. I then worked out the section the of trackbed that would be the viaduct by measuring up the Metcalfe kit sections, and cut that section away from the trackbed, thus creating the foundation for the viaduct and its curve. I was inspired by this video, albeit he used plasticard ruclips.net/video/jcvZc3gp7Jo/видео.html

One question - how hard would it be to widen one of the arched sections? I want to do the same as you but I need to fit a curved (radius 2) double track through the central arch and it's too narrow.
