I love bananas as well as roses so thanks for the recipe! Alpine Sunset is beautiful - my favourite combination of colours.

I have to agree - bananas and roses are essential parts of the perfect day!

That Alpine sunset one looks beautiful and reminds me of my Isabelle Autissier one :)

Thank you. The major drawback with Alpine Sunset is that it only produces a maximum of 4-5-6 flowers at a time, but they do last a long time and each one looks magnificent! I just had a look at photos of Isabelle Autissier online and the two roses do look very similar - is the flowering habit similar (few flowers, but large and long-lasting)?

@@nikkonch mine is still a baby, I bought it last year; it produces a few huge flowers that stay on a bit; not sure how it ll do as it matures

I have posted photos on my Community page because the video made the roses look washed out.

I've made the banana feed a few times but was never sure how long to leave it before using it on the plants. I'll chop the skins up in future as I wasn't doing that. As you said, looks better than whole banana skins everywhere. I'm lucky as bananas are my favourite fruit so I have no trouble accumulating them. Your Iris look really lovely Nik.

Don't take this as gospel, Wendy .This method is not so much scientific as based on gut feeling. I leave the banana peel pieces in until the water begins to look murky, which I reason must mean that at least some of the nutrients have been taken up by the water and will be quickly absorbed by the soil while the small pieces can release whatever's left more gradually while almost disappearing from sight on the surface of the ground.

Lovely nik. Your alpine sunset looks a tiny bit similar to Rosemary Harkness.

I don't think the camera on my phone has captured the depth/darkness of AS's colour - it seems to be over-exposed. But I don't know if I can change that setting. And as for capturing the red on the Dublin Bay, that's a complete fail.

I’ve been burying the banana peels in with the pot and covering it with soil. I much prefer your technique as you can fertilise in mass with minimal banana peels. I’ll be eating a lot of bananas 🍌 this summer. Thanks for sharing

@@kenvoong5977 haha I was thinking the same thing. My Mrs always asks if I want shopping and I always say no. This week I’ll be shouting “yeah can you get some bananas”!
