I recently walked into a gun store and saw one hanging on the wall. I knew what it was as soon as I saw it and I had always wanted one. It had a Nikon 3X9 scope on it and the rifle looked like brand new! After a little haggling I walked out with it for $500 including taxes. I was surprised to find it will shoot quarter size 5 shot groups at 50 yards. Definitely a keeper! Mine is a first year gun 1986. Great video!
I remember seeing you post pics of this on the forum when you first bought it. You were shooting golf balls with it. Ive always loved that rifle. You've got a real gem there.
Great memory and you're exactly right! They were Nike golf balls and I was shooting the "swoosh" logo in the middle. I could probably dig up those pictures if I went far back enough in the old digital scrapbook lol. Thanks man!
Love mine. Got it brand new in the box (1987), and it still is just as mint today as it was that first unboxing long ago. Great shooter, as mentioned in your video. Great video... thanks for sharing it with us all!
I have an early A-Bolt that is in near new condition with the most beautiful stock, Leupold Veri-X 3x9 compact scope. Great shooter and just beautiful .22. Love this gun.
I have one that I bought in 1995. Mine has no sights and I managed to acquire 3 magazines for it. Love mine dearly. Goes well with all the A Bolt and A Bolt II centerfire rifles I have. This is an outstanding small game rifle.
I have an A-Bolt 22lr that I purchased new in Feb 1987 for $310. First year manufacture with the laminated stock. Looked at the Remington 541-T and the Ruger 77/22 before the Browning. As soon as I handled the A-Bolt thoughts of those other two were dismissed. Have shot many thousands of rounds through it since. Refinished the stock in a matte finish red mahogany color, and yes it does look better than the original med brown. They are great rifles. I believe they were discontinued because the market for a $300-400 twenty-two's in the late 80's and into the 90's was probably pretty limited. Bean counters like high numbers on balance sheets.
My dad bought an entire case of these A-Bolt 22's back in the 90's. I forget how many was in a case i believe it was 5 + a Gold Medallion. The neat part about them is that they are consecutively serial numbers on them. If i recall correctly the gold medallion isnt exactly in consecutive order. They are brand new in the box with the hang tags still on them wrapped in the plastic.
I have an A Bolt in .270 Win that is all I use for deer. I'd love to have the .22 companion and hate it is so rare that it is an insane fortune on the rare occasion you can find one of those gorgeous babies for sale.
I just bought one, it was built in 1993, it’s in very good condition, I hope it shots good, I read that some are decent shooters and others are not, I hope my is one of the good ones
Very familiar with Browning firearms. I was upset as well when they stopped making some of their guns in Belgium and outsourced to Japan. But as you said, Japan is known for making precision tools and instruments so its a fair trade. Its just typical to associate Japan with China which we all know what reputation China has in manufacturing. Today, I would be proud to own anything made in Japan. I have a Cold Steel knife made in Japan that is amazing. You've got a great example of a historic Browning A-Bolt, congrats!
Thanks man, the finish is completely original! Those are 2 great guns you have! Law enforcement carried those old Colt revolvers for a long time. You should make some videos about them!
BEAUTIFUL RIFLE, I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE AS NICE AS THAT. BUT I DO HAVE A OLD PRE-WWII GERMAN TARGET/TRAINER SINGLE SHOT MAUSER ES340N WITH A REPLACEMENT STOCK FROM HERTERS. THE STOCK WAS WHAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION AT FIRST THEN SEEING THE MAUSER LOGO AND OLD GERMAN PROOF MARKS I FELL IN LOVE. THE COLOR OF THE STOCK IS VERY SIMILAR TO YOURS WITH THE TIGER STRIPES, I THOUGHT IT WAS MAPLE AND NOT WALNUT BECAUSE OF THE LIGHT COLOR OF THE WOOD. IT'S QUITE HEAVY (lots of steel). It is Meticulously machined, you can tell the old world craftsmanship. The breach is shaped so you just toss the bullet in and close the bolt, the bullet will find hole. It's SO COOL. 22LR FOREVER.😉😁👍😂
I'm surprised that you're surprised! 🤓 I've probably got about 20 or 25 .22's in rifles and handguns, they're awesome! The. 22LR used to be a very underestimated cartridge but over the years people have learned how practical the round actually is for many different scenarios. It's not only good for hunting small game but it's also great for training without breaking the bank. Ammo "used to be" cheap and plentiful. I've probably got about 50k rounds stashed somewhere from where I've bought it here and there over the years. But what I love most about my .22's is that they're just so much fun to shoot! Thanks Dean-O! Glad to see you're getting my video notifications again 😊
@@Bluelightbandit lol nope didn't get any notice. Just happened to be on you tube seen something of your video. But as long as I get to view them that's all that matters. Stay safe my friend
I have the same gun but its the Gold Medallion version. It is a tack driver putting them through the same hole at 50 yards using standard CCI ammo. The gun I have is actually in much nicer shape and I would be curious to know what it is worth because I might just sell it. Any idea?
Recently got one of these rifles. The action of the bolt feels a bit rough (compared to other bolt action rifles I own). Is that common or do I need to work on it?
You know it's going to be a good gun video when he has those gloves on
Thanks E!

Beautiful wood, the gun itself looks like it was built like an Abrams tank.
Thanks Bandit
The wood stock is what sold me on this gun. Thanks Wally. House is looking great btw!

I agree!
I have one just like this only it has open sights. Bought in 1991 for 329.00, which was a lot back then for a .22!!! Beautiful rifle.
They're great pieces of history, congrats on picking one up and keeping it!

That was alot of coin back then for a .22, you're right. And you're probably right on why they were discontinued. Thanks for watching and commenting!
As I'm sure you know, Japan has made guitars for several different brand name manufacturers like Fender which are very popular and for good reason.
What a beauty sir! I’ve got couple brownings myself. Got two Tbolts in maple 22LR & mag. Thanks for the video brother
Thanks! I regret selling my others...big mistake! Congrats on yours!

China and Japan are nothing alike. Japan actually takes pride in their craftsmanship.
Damm , that is a beauty 😍 👌 ❤! I have the SA , BL , and the T in AAA maple. Now I need an A . Also have the Walnuts as well .
Wow, very nice!
dude i have one of those in mint condition that was given to me by my grandfather
That's awesome!
Absolutely beautiful bluing did you reblue it. The stock is awesome to. I have a couple rare guns like the nylon 66 and the colt pocket positive
Is the group at 100 yards or 25

This and the Ruger 10/22 magnum are the best rimfire
YES SIR!
Eh......Anschutz, Winchester, Remington, Mossberg made some beauties too
Brownings always look too nice to take in the field.
They're definitely beautiful works of art. Thanks!
I have this rifle in similar condition. The only difference is it has front and rear sights.
I have one in 22 Magnum. Anyone know where I get get a magazine for it?
I found mine on Gun Broker
They were expensive too so be prepared if you do find one.
Magazines are hard to find I saw one on ebay for 250$ ouch
Wow!
How accurate is the rifle?
Thanks
Very. I can't remember the stats because its been awhile since I've shot it.

I never noticed anything like that, I love mine.
The action on mine is as smooth as butter.
Take the bolt out by pressing the the oval button on the side and try using some ooo steel wool on it then lube it up. Supposed to be real smooth
Nice looking long barrel pistol😁 not a short barrel rifle. 😋
Shhhh, don't be throwing out AT.F jargon on this channel. I don't need those guys hounding me lol.
