We all get those Trainwreck seasons. Last year was one for me. Same deal 3 opportunities missed. Well actually 2. One my fault 2nd neighbor drove side by side up and accidently spooked him. "3rd" was the night the season closed. Heard something in back yard qhile cutting up my dow walked out with rifle. Coyotes were active few hours prior. Turned on my lights and saw a fair mid size 7pt.
Told him good job bud. You made it through the season

I watched your first video 2 days ago. Then today hunting some public land in NY I ran into a buddy of yours, Chris. Great guy! We talked for a while and shared stories. I just started my own RUclips channel last year and keep learning every day. I shot a doe stalking with my 12 gauge Mossberg just before meeting Chris. I videotaped him telling the story of his opening weekend buck. Chris will now be a part of this doe harvest video when I post it. I truly believe things happen for a reason meeting him. Awesome videos. They are real and I can’t wait to watch more.

We've all missed sometimes it's a mature buck, sometimes it's when you're trying to fill the freezer but 3 mature bucks in 1 season! It's good to have confidence but I think you may need to start practicing the scenario when you are about to execute a shot. Replay the basics in your mind as you draw back and release over and over and over until it becomes muscle memory. I have found this the only way to get over buck fever is to keep your mind out of it. Enjoy your video keep up the good work

When I first started bow hunting compounds were not legal in PA. My family didn't bow hunt so I was mostly on my own learning. I never killed a buck those years. When compounds became legal I had more experience and also started killing some deer. By then I had a family to feed so usually shot the first deer buck or doe. Years later for some reason I got out my old recurve and shot it a few times and was surprised at the groups I could hold. I had shot over 20 deer by then but always with the compound never the recurve so I decided to use it that year. Squirrel season had started before I could get out so I knew deer would be on edge. A small 8 point came in with 2 does. I leaned out of my tree stand, aimed behind the shoulder and released. Like OP I hit a limb and watched my arrow veer off course. Unlike OP I hit the deer in the head right behind the antler. The Bear rasorhead stuck in so far it didn't move when the buck ran off. I could watch them go 50 yards up an old logging road where they enter some brush. Three deer went in and only two came out. When I went to see the buck lay dead the broad head still buried in the skull. It was my most strange kill.

Been on both sides of those Jake brakes. When I’m hunting they sure do suck. But when you are going down a steep slope you had better be using that engine brake! I’ve seen too many guys catch their brakes on fire or run out of air for them by trying to only use standard brakes.

Can't miss if you don't shoot, I once cutt the hair off a nice 8 point because I don't have a range finder. Great video and perfect outlook the bad hunter's are the one's who don't put in the effort to track wounded game. I once took a spike that died on opening day because hunter never looked for it, some day's you can get lucky and never fire a shot. Also before anyone asks how fresh the deer could be steam released during field dressing.

17:03 dude that sucks I tried stuck bow for one season when I felt I was god enough shot a doe at ten yards just too far forward hit the shoulder didn’t penetrate she lived I’m sure but I was pissed. Like you said I felt good to go and hunt because I practiced a lot that year. Unfortunately I haven’t had the time to practice since haven’t gone out again with traditional. Also screwed up a shot on the biggest Buck of my life rushed the shot because he was going to be behind cover hit him in the elbow he also lived because the next day I tracked him to his bed too thick to shoot but he was good. Those sting I’ll never get over that big one I have waited my whole life and put countless time thought and money into that moment and blew it. That’s why I rarely think about it😂 we live in Wisconsin but my parents have lived in Bellefonte PA and that’s what my dad said that Buck is a giant there for sure. Cool to see someone with the stick instead of the cross gun👍subscribed

Man, those little branches suck... I had a nice 5x6 bull at 18 yds some years back right before dusk and had perfect broadside clear lane (so I thought) and let my arrow loose. I could see the arrow had a perfect path but couldnt see a 2" diameter dead branch sticken up and center punched that stick. That bull ran to 40 yds and turned to look at me full broadside again but way out of my comfort range. He finally drifted off never to be seen again. I went down to pull my arrow but it was stuck good in that branch (I have no idea how I couldnt see the shovel handle size stick) so I pulled out my buck 110 and tried to pry out my bear razorhead and broke the blade on my knife. I was not a happy camper and left the arrow and broadhead and hiked the 2 miles back to camp in the pitch black and rain sulking the whole way...

Great video, set up, your bowhunting knowledge is ahead of your years speaking as a senior bowhunter. You did many things right no criticism here as I said your ahead in deer knowledge. You said you missed a couple deer so now you must Analize you're shooting and shot sequence on live deer. I'm a lifelong traditional bowhunter / archer I know what you're experiencing because I been there. I love your attitude to keep moving forward. Now you really want to focus on your shooting between now and next season. My guess why you missed that buck was because it happens fast the buck was walking never stopped and your shot concentration level was not where you needed it to be at the time of release. You were probably looking at the whole deer. Again, this is in no way Criticism of you it is just a step in your bowhunting journey. If you ever want to talk about bow/animal shooting, we can talk. Like your video and your enthusiasm for bowhunting. Keep moving forward.

    Great video, great location.
Do you practice out of the harness? If not, that could be what is throwing off your shot.

Great footage Brother!!! If you don't mind telling, what's the best saddle and platform for all day sets? Thanks!!!

I couldn’t tell you what’s better or worse. I use a cruzer saddle and a tethrd platform. Never used any other ones. Thanks for watching!

Arrows tend to go exactly where they are pointed UNTIL something gets in their way. Pencil sized limbs & twigs can be frustrating. Hang in there, it’ll happen. 👍👍

I never eat or drink in stand. In fact, I dont open my mouth and instead breath through my less foul smelling nose holes.

Another great video, Tim! Keep after it, I’m sure you’re gonna put an arrow through a mature whitetail this year! The videos you’ve been putting out have been too notch. I would be interested in a gear video, like what you use and/or would recommend for traditional archery hunting success.
