He did this so many years ago, and yet I’m still somehow scared for him
Hands down sketchiest trick ever. Proof: Nobody attempted since. Jeremy Wray is a ninja.
I think that water tower to water tower boardslide (Clive Dixon? Don't feel like digging down two years into back thrashers... ) was nuttier, that said they made immediate reference to this Jeremy wray trick in the caption... However, inna final analysis, this was hella long ago, bottom line that both badass they both batshit crazy
@@DouchedByDemocrats difference is that clive dixon boardslide existed in a world after Wray's ollie. would that boardslide have happened without that ollie showing the heights things could be taken? debatable.
The way he climbed up looked sketchy too
@@DouchedByDemocrats Lmao no way bro the water tower ollie was a 15 feet gap at least which is way more insane
Deadly and silent like the W in his last name.
Makes me nervous joust thinking about jumping it lol
@Jacob Givich word my arms are heavy
This trick is timeless, it will always be remembered as the gnarliest ollie ever. To think the world record ollie distance on flat today is not much longer than that is crazy.
Agreed. Interesting to kno he diy reconstructed his tail to land it lol
It isn’t longer though.
The world record is 16.5 feet. The towers are damn near exactly 16 feet apart. Unless he landed the landing exactly on the edge, there is a good chance the water tower gap is the record. And it is fuckin terrifying to even think about.
The most amazing part is how Wray gapped that thing while carting around those massive brass balls.
Sketchy rocks, rough landing, a chipped board and he still goes for it. What a total gangster.
And you can add rough roof to that list as well. Not straight clean cement even. And he kicks the board on the last cm possible. Craziest ollie ever.
@@squick1842 Total determination he was so dialed in its crazy
biggest daY IS SKATEBOrding ever I am not discounting all the serious gaps and double stair events ,roof jumps and whatever this tower deal was crucial and it happened -will anyone ever do it again i dont know but please be aware you have to be on your best game- this was the one event =the first time was unknown you just cant explain the event
When you think about it this was one of the craziest tricks ever done in skateboarding. It's not super flashy by today's standards so it will be overlooked sometimes, but yeah.
Shut the fuck up and go play your Tony Hawk games, you dumb shit. What he did was fucking insane. I bet you don't even skateboard.
@@SlickRick4EVER angry little boy
@@SlickRick4EVER you've got issues brother, go get some help.
It's still super flashy by today's standards. If more kids saw it like if Thrasher reposted it on Instagram, they'd trip balls.
Wat? If it wasn't super flashy, people would've backside flipped it by now. Skating Is still hard, bud.
I used this clip to learn to ollie, lol. This was on a 411 ad on the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and I just played it over and over until I understood how an ollie worked.
NunyaBusiness exactly the same here! Yeah!
Lmao so many signs telling him to not do it and he did it anyway. ballsofsteel
That's incredible indeed.
Brains of pot
@@homefront3162 lol yea a logical brain wouldn't do done it
This man is a legend!
Is any one elses palms sweating while hearing this
My heart rate goes up just by listening to his story. Looks like every sketchy thing that could happen happened - except for actually tripping over a rock.
The tail of the board getting chipped before the last try and him having to press it back in a "drop in" position sounds like a nightmare.
I remember skating with Jeremy in Chicago at an Element demo in 2003. Dude ollied 2 metal standard trash cans on top of each other !! Seriously insane ollie skills. I never forgot that demo.
That water tower gap is still crazy to this day
Watching that gap playing Tony Hawk thinking "cant wait to be pro to do stuff like that!!"
Anyone else think thrasher should do a “my war” segment
I know it’s was only five tries , but they are five of the gnarlyest tries ever
Is there footage of the tries?
@@menikmati789there has got to be somewhere
Running & jumping over 15+ ft is no joke
Not really. I jumped 19 feet in long jump when I was 14 years old
@@OwnedEpicStyle oooo watch out you're hard.
😂😂
Theo Levine I’m clearly way harder than your weak ass
PB Richie not 19 feet over a 16 ft water tower pussy.
When y'all cut/re-edit these highlight episodes, y'all need to put in the clips that you discuss in the highlight. Please and Thank You.
Neko Rodgers for real
That's what I'm saying.........
yessssssssss
I understand that it's an extra effort but it would definitely give an extra value to the videos if the clips were added during the discussions of each trick/moment. Would be some sick video for sure to combine all of it
Right?
J Wray is one of the gnarliest of all time, tons of style as well, respect 🙌
I would love to see an uncut version of the attempts. I bet someone has them on a tape somewhere!
Yeahhh... Totally.... I dont get it either.. Why not release everything including "making of".. Interviews and stuff... I mean.. Its a legendary trick
@@itiswhatitis141 ......... .... ......... Bruh ... ......... ..

0:15 "like pauwllel es elikk guhehfhh" -rog
Maybe the sickest trick I ever saw... seeing that when I was a kid made me realise how committed someone could be to the sport. All time respect
this breakdown makes me so nervous ...Jeremy is king
I feel anxious just listening to this , it's too knarly!
Yea, the rock jumping under his Wheel 😭😵. We've all ate shit with a pebble but to almost clip on top of a 40ft water tower over a 16ft gap is just Insane.
My stomach was hurting the whole time lol
Same 🤣
I'm kinda glad he never attempted the kickflip cause that precision of the kick could be fatal to get right
Not really. That's not how physics works. You just have to haul ass and time the jump. What the board does is irrelevant to clearing the gap. You could even leave it behind entirely as long as YOU go.
That's like the ultimate definition of: "Skate or die!"
The true definition of "do or die."
🎤🎶In the white room.... 🎶! Man ..those were the days! Jeremy gnarly hero ! Thanks for all the memories !👌
best gap done ever. hands down
I still can’t believe it almost 30 years later
Glad he survived to tell the tale 😳👍
I remember seeing the 411vm on vhs and seeing him Ollie the towers and i lost it! I was in elementary at the time. Super rad and so glad you guys got him on here!
such a rad guy..met him at the old radlands comps in the 90s and he was so humble and chilled.
Parkour before parkour .. this was fucking insane
7:35 the mushrooms that Chris ate earlier just kicked in
Chris Grieve lmfaooo
i would love to see higher quality footage of that jump
Mannitherucus go back in time and film it in HD.
its online....on you tube too
@@alexcorona if someone uses actual film, it can look great no matter how old.
Fn legend! He was so smooth and powerful.
Absolute monster to even want to flip that gap.
This whole clip is such a harrowing listen. Biggest respect to Wray!!!
Only Jeremy is crazy enough to look at that and see a skate spot.
Here in 2024. Just saw this. Jeremy ,LEGEND!!
I drive by these water towers all the time and seeing those towers in person it's such an insane ollie. Jeremy is the LA HABRA LEGEND.
Favorite skater growing up. Especially after seeing him Ollie the tower
when u thought it coudldn't get any gnarlier ! mad props to jeremy wray
Holy hell, I didn't ever hear that he did this with a chipped tail on the bottom side of the board too. That makes it even more legendary.
Why yall encouraging him to kick flip it 😂 I’m having an anxiety attack.
I remember seeing that clip of him ollieing the towers.....and til this day every single time i see water towers i remember his clip.
Catching a wheel bite on a drop vs stairs is a HUGE difference
Jermey wray taught me how to ollie. Transworld skate tricks and tips video.super throwback
Dude I'm glad I watched this cause I couldn't believe that gap I was questioning if it was real big up man that was nuts man I was born in 81 never seen anything the huge on skating just wow
Insane
I have a poster of this event, autographed by Jeremy, made out to me.
lies and slander
Homefront 😂😂😂
Real skateboard legend that simply doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.
when I watch this I'm imagining him fs 360ing the biggest unskated gaps in my home town.. what a legend
so gnarly, respect
My hands are all sweatin just by listening to this
My hands are sweating just LISTENING to him talk about it.
I think next to Tony Hawk's 900 this may be the most iconic trick to ever go down in skateboarding, which says a fucking lot.
Legend. Nice cliff hanger at the end. It would of been pure insanity if he would of kicked flipped it.
It's already pure insanity
One of the craziest gaps on a skateboard. Big props to Wray for landing it in just 5 tries!
This guy is so gnarly!
Starting Point with Jeremy Wray was the first skate video I ever saw. My friend gave it to me when i wanted to learn to skate in high school. Jeremy made that shit look tooooo easy hahahha!
Definitely the most daring trick of them all, look how late he has to ollie and still barely made it. This stunt required ultimate precision and concentration.
Legend
Just talking about it made my palms sweat
His intro on Second Hand Smoke and Andrew Reynolds intro on The End to me are the best intro to a part
I love Jeremy Wray, he's a proper chilled out guy, but he's a crazy fucker. X
Legit makes my knees WEAK just hearing about this...
One of the most underrated skaters of all time.
I like jeremy, one of my favorites skaters
Unhuman stuff. LEGEND
I had a Jeremy wray element deck years ago I got it cuz I saw the water tower jump in thrasher
Just listening to this is anxiety-inducing, LOL. Sooooooooo nuts
I had to come look this up because that was nuts. Just jumping it is scary. lol
insane life or death skateboard trick!
Thanks for not showing the clip of him doing it
This still the craziest trick
Easily one of the greats of my childhood! If you don’t know about Jeremy look up his footy
This is making me nervous just thinking about it lol.
An example of why I think skateboards should be symmetrical
everything will be ok Ishod's shape of his REAL board is symmetrical.
Knowing a decent amount about this before, I was pretty certain nothing had or ever will top this. Now that I hear the details of this video, I'm certain. The combination of the pure balls of just JUMPING the damned thing that many times, having caught his board with his finger tips, performing board surgery to ensure a tail pop....forget it! Without equal.
My palms are sweaty
Beyond Gnarly!!!
La Habra’s own! Son of the city!
Man Jeremy has got some serious guts, I wouldn't attempt that for a million dollars
The perfect ollie
Iconic
Everything about this trick was in fucking sane!!
wheres all the cut scenes at for that ollie?
I used to see this guy all the time at brea park. Hes super humble. That video footage must have been late 90's and that gap is still a monstrosity. U can drive by the water towers in diamond bar California See for yourself
Those adios look sick love that colourway/material. And yeah I always remembered that gap, absolutely insane. I think I saw it in a 411 or something? Or it was like a 411 that showed moments over the years or something? I can’t quite remember 🤔 btw I was sweating just from him describing all this sketchy shit like reaching to grab the board and stomping the tail with the board in drop in position on the edge of the tower, oh man!!!! 😬
ah the old golden memories of the old 411vm's and thps's
For sure !💯
This guy ...🥴😵 Most scary trick ever done on a skateboard imho.
I remember seeing this trick when I was young, and we used to call it the do or die gap, because it just felt like you die if you miss it...
Sick
What skate vids was this featured in?
How high were the tops of the towers from the ground?
Always wondered who that crazy dude was from 411VM THPS vid.
If you ain't down for a ice cold La Croix, we aint doing business jack!
Nuts!
Had the coolest Adio skate shoes. Wish to find some today.
String. You'll need a string in order to hoist the board up. If you're the creative type, you could probably also work out a way to hoist a broom up there.
I think it's closer to 15 feet. 16 feet at the bottom but the tops have some overhang caps that subtract distance.
@Colby Carter How do you figure
@Colby Carter Are you saying it's the distance of two parking spaces? How do you know that? Or are you just saying 16 feet is two parking spaces?
