Well,I remember my female Cockatiel,Sunny,with crackling the beak,where are you squawk,as we played hide and seek,and her reactions after laying eggs...she had,I don't know how many 'clutches' in her lifetime. She was hand raised,very tame,very loving. She liked it when I rubbed my nose on her head,she would bow down her head when she wanted me to rub my nose on her!"👍❤️

My Sam lost his old friend, and he was literally letting himself die... After a week I was so worried I got him a new friend, now Sam & Freddie are inseparable! If they are not used to be only birds t's always best to get them a new companion. I hope your little boy is doing well ❤
My birds go into a protecting nest when it's kinda dark that they don't see me, but once I whistle they relax and recognize me🥺❤

my cockatiels never really chat :( it was given to me by my other grandma who didnt want them anymore. she had them for 2 years and they have a small cage. i dont have enough to buy a bigger one for the two.. but they dont seem happy :(( they just sit all day in silence! what can i do to help :(

My tiny baby cockteil calls me and when I check on her says me that she's hungry..those are the only sounds she makes for now. Also, she bites her beak while sleeping after hand feeding her.
how about a female doing some cute chirps in response to me talking to her, can't tell if she is just chatting back or scared in some way? she has no reason to feel fearful. but I've always been curious about her cute quiet chirps to me

Just beware of cats, their hunger is a worry always, never let them be outdoors even if they are kept safe, they might jump on it and break it.

No a hiss is just that, a hiss.
my cockatiel had an im happy moment this morning tjattering,tjirpin, and various sounds i did'nt hear him do since i've got him ;p they are funny creatures, they make your day if you let them ;p
You can tell more by their mohawks and expressions than anything
Another sound mine do Is a short “brrr” sound, like they are saying thank you or a greeting. They tend to make that sound when I put fresh seed In their bowl, or when I take the cover off their cage.

My aunt owns one cockatiel and it's sometimes with us for half a year when her husband is away. He has 2 names, but that's a long story. Me and my parents let him out to fly, it hates my mom so much and he hisses and screeches at her. It's not much interested with my father either (no screeching or hissing, just awkward behavior). When all 3 of us are inside, he always flies at my shoulder, he loves me petting him, although he is barely trained/tamed at the pet shop. He always pecks my vision glasses and when laying on couch, he would always just walk over me. When petting him, he slowly starts to close his eyes and he immediately put his head under it.

What could be the biggest size of a cockatiel, from my experience of having two, they don't grow ofcourse as big as a cockatoo and I had a cockatoo, unfortunately due to its beak size, it bit my cat's eyes once 😢😮....

At what age do males do mating calls? I think mine is still too youmg, i dont know if male or fm , but dang! It never shuts up, always making noise chirping and gurgling like its trying to talk ( i have a talking african grey and my raidio stays on all day. Do males make more noise than fm? Its head isnt very yellow , hasent moulted fully yet, it a kindabrowinsh grey with some yellow patches on its neck. I call it " cheerio" because it always seems happy chirping away all day lol

They’re getting used to your place still. They’re probably attached to you now and start screeching like that when you’re out of sight. They’re a bit like children. They like to be “left alone” but still in range of you.

aah! My cockatiel is a girl!! She has been mate calling for over a year and i thought she wanted back rubs😂
Try to not rub her back since that will excite her sexually and cause frustration. Stick to scratching the birds head so you don’t excite her.
You shouldn't pet your Birds Back because it's sexual Behavior for them. It's ok though to pet the Head, the Neck and the Feet
