My cockatiel lived 30 years. Some Romaine lettuce, safflower organic (and expensive) organic millet spray, water cuddle bone. He was out of his cage for most of his life and we kept his cage door open so he could go in and eat. I used basic tap water. I had to clean his water bowl everyday because in that 24 hour period the water tray had a slimy feel to it. Sometimes tap is Better than bottled water because it has more oxygen exposure. Has anyone else noticed a slimy feel (not look) to their tiel’s water tray??
Yes I do experience that as well! I’ve heard it formed due eating seeds and drinking from it. Still not sure about it but this is what I’ve found so far.

Make sure to feed vegetables such as spinach and kale in moderation since they contain a high amount of nitrate, which can be dangerous to birds and small children
True. I love shredding collard greens with parsley, or broccoli and parsley or bokchoy. They love parsley and it's not bad for your bird it's one of the healthiest for your bird.💛
@@chollyappleseed1969 i was referring to smaller animals, like birds or children, whereas it is not opitmal to provide spinach in too large amounts. also, the information you just posted was from an automated google search; you are clearly very researched.

I always gave them stuff they love on a certain plate, like egg and some seeds once a week, after a while I slowly started to switch the food on that plate. Now they eat basically everything what I put on there
I heard that oxalic acid is in things like spinach and kale and it causes these foods to bind with calcium so you shouldn’t use these as a good source of calcium. Do you know if this is true?
They will eat what they want to eat! Mine shared all I had but only had some in small amounts and she lived for over 25 years! My present one eats some things, but only what he wants and not everything on your list!
Some things are right and some are wrong. Carrots and fruit should be given as a treat as are high in sugar. And seeds should be kept to a minimum as are high in fat, also. Sprouted seeds are healthy!
For new bird owner's it would be great if you could as mention if these foods mentioned in the video need to be cooked or can be eaten raw, how much should you feed them.

My boy isn’t a big fruit lover… however, he only eats the tops of broccolini, spinach and loves carrot peel! He hated carrot chunks but loves to play with, and eat, the peeled/shaved carrot! He won’t eat grated tho, only peeled for some reason 🤷🏼♀️😂 I hope this helps!
I found the Zupreem pelleted cockatiel food has a lot of nutrients and the birds love it. It gives them the feeling they are eating seed. But my birds do like kale and other greens.
Chop it finely , layer it under some quality crumble pellets , spend some time down near the birds food bowl , they like being praised when they eat very much ! Can do a chop mix & refrigerate say every 4 days . ( my knife skills have really improved )
