Samsung just hit all my checklist but also way cheaper. Wish google pixel is available everywhere around like the world because the accessories ( case and screen protector )are much more harder and expensive to find. So samsung are definitely my go and their battery lasts soo long.
I went from the Pixel 2 to the S21 fe and for the most part its been a solid phone. However, it has started to stutter and lag noticeably recently which is making me consider returning to something in the Pixel line up. Like you I was drawn to the fe range because of the price. But I really missed the Pixel 2 from day one. Over time you just get used to having a phone. But the Pixel experience is just so different imo.

Well to be fair since Tensor is using Exynos architecture I would say it's probably a good 1-2 years behind. I think a lot of people are forgetting that Tensors are based off of Exynos (which is Samsung's most hated chip - well it's their only microprocessor line). In my case processors are important since I play games on my phone. I have an S22U with Snap 8 Gen 1, yea it gets decently warm, but that's due to stress from playing games and if I'm at home playing in a house that doesn't have good climate controls (just floor and ceiling fans and the breeze from outside). For day to day usage (phone calls, texting, consuming content, shopping online, and surfing the web) the graphics processing isn't that important, but the modem that's part of the chip is (for content consumption, shopping online [through apps], and web surfing). The Snapdragon 8 gen 1's modem is way better than the modem for the MediaTek chip that's in the Moto G 5g. It's not the signal itself, it's how the modem picks up that signal for online activities that's important, I rather have everything load a bit faster, than wait over 10secs for something to load. It felt like everything got throttled (in terms of updating games) on my aforementioned previous phone compared to this one (S22 Ultra) even on 4g it can download those in game updates quickly when on the other phone I think for some updates it took pretty much most of the night to download.
Had an LG V20 till it died after many yrs. use. Got a Samsung thinking an android is an android. Wrong! Navigation is much different and after living with it for 2 yrs. I'm thinking of trading it for a Google 8. GF has a Google I'll check out for a final decision but leaning toward the Google.
I still think I want to buy the pixel 8. I have pixel 2xl, and it still works fairly well, although finally starting to choke on Android Auto once in a while... I'm not convinced that the Pixel 8 is the best value... But I want the 7 years of updates, and I like the mostly stock android, and the call screen feature is great. Plus I like the size of the 8, even though I really want the camera of the pro. Hoping for a good deal in a couple weeks.

For me the Google Pixel 8 Pro is the easiest Choice by far!! It's got the same cameras and the same processor as the Google Pixel 8 Pro, which compete with Iphone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra. Easy choice!!!
Why do you think so?😂 The Pixel has the best camera when it comes to taking photos! It open apps as fast or faster than the iPhone 15 in meny cases! Pure Android 14❤❤ I never say the Iphone 15 is or the 23 is bad, they are both great devices!!! I really do understand why people love the Iphone 🤩
I agree. 👍🏻 The fact is, Apple's 3 nm A17 Pro is a full generation ahead of Qualcomm's SD 8 Gen 2 (and will very likely benchmark higher than even the Gen 3 when the S24 series is released in January), and the Tensor G3 is a full generation behind the SD Gen 2. So as much as I loathe iPhones, they're always on the bleeding edge in internal raw speed/power, Samsung devices are fairly current but not the fastest, whereas any Pixel you buy is arguably "behind the 8 ball" in that aspect. I truly DON'T believe that the Tensor G3 will realistically be able to support Android 21. So the 7-year OS update promise is really just a "one-upsmanship game" versus Samsung, and a marketing tool to make Google devices seem competitive with iPhones/iPads in that one regard.
@@sharkfintech5893A17 is terrible in real life use. Overheats, is a power hog, throttles etc. It is good on paper, but in the real world use it falls behind. SD 8 Gen 3 was released in October, whereas A17 in September so these are chips to compare. (Xiaomi 14 series is already out with 8 Gen 3)

I have a Pixel 7 and it is a major disappointment for me, the reason why I bought it was that everyone brags about the cameras, but sometimes my unit can't focus and by the times that it does, what I want to take a picture of, has moved on! So I got the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE and I am loving it, specially when I got it a METRO FOR $49.00!!! I won't be FOOLED by PIXEL ever again.

📌This review sound pretty honest and logical. I like OneUi, Samsung Routines, Samsung DEX, and the way Samsung handle Multitasking : Split View and Floating Windows. I also like using Duplicate Apps and from what i’ve seen you don’t have that on Pixel ( Parameters \ Applications ). 📌If Google released all AI Features outside of USA, Pixel 8 would be more tempting. Pricing in USA and Europe are really different. Deals are really too.😲
Sorry but the pixel as many hardware issues. Also they do not have Samsung DEX and GooDlock, so no pixel for me ! Also they never keep their promises, so I do not believe in the 7 years of updates.
Ive noticed a lot of shilling for Samsung but ive never had a Samsung phone that was snappy for more than a year. Granted my last Samsung phone was in 2015 then i migrated to pixel, even then people would shill for them or apple.
There is no shilling..the s23 ultra is the best phone of 2023. Battery, camera, display..no one is touching it. The iPhone 15 max is too vanilla, boring, and average. Just now getting USB c? That's a 2016 gimmick. Absurd.
I’m not a current Samsung user, but even I’ll admit that their software has improved dramatically since 2016 (S7). The switch from TouchWiz to OneUI seems to have made a real difference, despite having the appearance of a marketing gimmick.
Samsung has come a long way. I started my Android journey with the Galaxy Note 5 in late 2015 (after two faulty iPhone 5's). I loved the S-pen, and most def the display & cameras were superior to my previous iPhones, but yes, TouchWiz indeed got laggy after a year or two, and the OS updates from Samsung/AT&T were painfully slow. When the battery life/health degraded to a frustrating point after nearly 3 years, I switched to a Pixel in late summer 2018. The cameras were def an improvement, battery life outstanding, and at first, the near-stock Android experience was refreshing. But I did miss the brighter Samsung display & S-pen. When AT&T de-whitelisted my Pixel in early 2022, and its battery life/health was suffering, I bought the S22 Ultra in April 2022. OS updates are far more timely now (versus with the Note 5), the OneUI experience has been terrific, battery life is still very good, and I re-gained my S-pen (plus the device is wireless DeX-capable). The cameras offer features that Pixels (nor iPhones) simply still can't match (e.g., Pro mode & Director's View), and thanks to ROM-swapping, I have an effective 20 GB of RAM, which allows me to keep ~200 tabs open in Chrome, with no discernable lag/sluggishness in phone performance. That's neither shilling nor flexing, those are just Facts 😊
Battery or everything that is not going good with pixels are all because of the chipset and unfortunately it will continue until pixel 9. Waiting for pixel 10 and even if the issue of the chipset continues I will leave the Android platform for sure.
I've get to get Android 14 on my one plus, honestly just riding this phone out until i can't. 800-1400$ is just not a every day purchase so I'll get one at some point.
I went from an s21 ultra to a pixel 7 pro. The 7 pro is a cool phone with cool features, but it gets so hot when multi-tasking. Charges slowly and lags so much when it starts to heat up. I could not stand it anymore. Went to best buy to buy a S23 FE until the S24 ultra comes out. So far better battery life, doesnt get extremely hot, no lags and just a better phone. To me shows samsung has got the formula down and google needs to continue to improve. Would love to get another pixel but with my bad experience im not sure I will.
643 gets you 256 RAM on Amazon vs128 and telephoto is better than macro for less money plus 6.2 inches is tiny and who cares about the weight you can get an S23 6.2 for less than the 8 as far as updates pixels are not as good and who actually keeps a phone for 7 years? not to mention 128 Rams going to be too little in about two years 256 will be the minimum.
I think the Google cameras and so called "legendary" processing is highly overrated... My wife's Zflip 3 blows my pixel 7's pictures and video out of the water.
I was eas really bummed pit by the price hike. I love the call screening feature so much. Samsung will give me almost twice as much as google will for my P7. 🤷🏼♂️ It's getting so hard to choose. If the iPhone 15 had a 90hz display id probably finally jump ship

I have a s23Ultra. I'm replacing my business phone S8+ with the FE. I need a working phone that lasts and has good sound quality. Bought on Black Friday for $399. Seems like a deal.
My pixel 8 is developing a battery drain problem 😢
Same with me on the 8 pro. When you're watching a video/youtube (wiFi). I can see the battery drain like 2% almost every 5 mins. My LG v60 still works great. Almost 2 days of battery after 3years os daily use.
Google will fix it with software like they always do. Maybe Google will make a Magic Battery app that stops the phone from getting too hot.
@@KgzStylez Looks like Google is running lot of data processing in the background. But not sure how a battery drains this bad while watching a video that fast
My p8 is currently on its way back to google via Poland it seems. Nice phone but its not a 699 kinda nice. I found better usability and less bugs in the moto g73. Think the base 23 wou.d be better tbh
Watching now..wont be getting either but staying aprised. My next tech purchase is likely the tab s9 Ultra. Its about time.
I can almost guarantee that you'll love it. I'm still rocking the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus; it remains a stellar performer overall, and I far prefer the user interface/software experience over iPad.
@sharkfintech5893 cool....I'll get it maybe after Thanksgiving..just want everything lined up in timely fashion.
The problem with current crop of phones is that they don't offer anything more than my 5 year old Pixel 4. So as long as the old phone is running I am sticking with it. Although FOMO is real I just don't see anything useful in the latest crop of handsets.
my old phoe runs great, its not getting anymore android updates or security updates, thats the problem!

@@JesManVP My wife's Pixel 5a got it this morning, my Pixel 7 is still waiting. We're in Oregon
The only thing good about the Pixel phones is the pure Android experience. That is about it.
That's about it? lol. Maybe the camera too?
Does the S23 FE compete with the Pixel 7a ? And if so, which one is considered to be the better phone?
Yes. It does. I think the S23 FE is better overall but not for the price. The 7a is currently like $375, versus the $599 S23 FE.
@@TechOdysseyS23 FE dropped to $400 on Amazon. I'm struggling between Pixel 7a and S23 FE because they cost the same. Which one would you chose?
For the same price the S23FE is better.
Pixel 7 is CAD 499 now in Canada , black friday sale.
Pixel 8 is on for $360 Cdn through Koodo. Pay $10/mo for 24 months and commit to a 60GB $45/mo 2 year plan, with free long distance calling to US, UK India, China and 25 other countries. I was on a $35 plan already. Koodo gives back $6/mo in credit, so total cost for the upgrade is $360. Great deal.
The Gen 1 is the reason i upgraded to my first apple device ever the iPhone 14 Plus from my Samsung 22+ my girlfriend don’t seem to mind my old S22+ it’s just over a year old my iPhone 14 Plus is about three months old the battery life is really good i can’t say I like iPhones any better than android so i don’t mind switching from one or to the other!! I really enjoy all of your reviews as a matter of fact I don’t upgrade until I get information about a device from you! Thanks my pick Google pixel 8 …
I don't get the FE on back market the s22ultra in good condition is £610 in the uk less if you want a lower frade where the S23fe is £599 . Yes battery is poor on the ultra but you get far more for your money. Personally I'd get the pixel .
I Traded in my S22 Ultra for the S23 Ultra. The Exynos chip in it was poor. The Snapdragon in the S23 Ultra is so much better.
Pixel is the best phone but should improve it's battery
I prefer the customisation with samsung
Ive been using Samsung since the start and am probably gonna get the S23 fe just based on price. Been stuck using my S10 sunce my S20 got broken 😂.
Would you get the pixel 7a at $375 or standard pixel 7 at $450 or s23 at $400 or a54 at $325. I am someone who wants a good camera, good battery and decent performance. I'm coming from a one plus 8t and I'm trying to hold out till the 3rd year of use. Currently on my 2nd year.
Go for s23, you'll not regret
Enjoy the lack of physical proximity sensor that s23fe lacking, heck even a low end phone has it
@@fantasytky28 i do enjoy it
love my GP 8 no over heating, no problems and i liked the 7 too but this is better i will only buy GP phones just not pro versions and would only take an apple or samsung if i was forced to take them for free
ok
I've seen a bunch of trashing for the s23fe too...
But I hear ya. I had the choice between these two and the guy at the ATT store just told me "no way" with pixel 8 vs 23 FE.
I didn't feel like i even had the option, he was so down n it.
i want game performance. both phones look good to me and can do everything else fine. i guess im stuck with the FE now either way.
I'll agree that the feel of my phone is like a giant slick brick. like, honestly, a slick lead brick. i've begun wearing a man-purse for it.
Maybe only USA has snapdragon but outside USA it's using Exynos
Exactly
Would a Pixel 8 be an upgrade worth it over the S20 FE?
@@andrewwilliams1884 I had a Samsung before my current pixel... I've liked this pixel so much more than the Samsung. I'm not motivated to go back to Samsung.
@@rwtindallI'm hoping there's a good sale with my provider for the s23 on black Friday
@@rwtindall hi! In the European market, S23 fe is using an Exynos processor. Would you still consider it a much better phone? I am struggling between s23 fe and gp 7pro bc they're in a similar price range. 5g in Europe doesn't work yet for pixels but it has a larger screen. I feel safer with Samsung but everyone says Pixel has better cameras. I can't make up my mind and I lose all the offers!😅
Which do you like better: Pixel 8 or the Thinkphone?
I would say the Thinkphone. Really nice quality and god chip. Unless you need amazing cameras or fast software updates, the Thinkphone is better in reliability
Several reports and some consumers' experience are clearly indicating that Tensor-G3 isn't an inferior chipset as it's being rumoured by some biased and blind Samsung and Apple fanboys. Pixel8 series is doing well!
Yup. It’s a good chip
Yeah, I have seen a real world review and Pixel 8 Pro did great in the battery department. (Whereas, iPhone 15 Pro Max didn't)
@jackwilson5542 when has an iPhone ever did good on battery though
Pixel is not upscale like apple & samsung it's in it's own lane which is a phone that people can afford even though they went up on their price pixels are affordable but not the most top phone but solid enough with a great camera
Telephoto lens can be used for macro photography/microscope too
It's not the telephoto. It's the ultrawide that does the Macro.
@@TechOdyssey true got them mixed up
Just got the fe for $100 from T-Mobile with my iPhone 11 trade.
Nice. How do you like it?
No major issues with my Pixel 8 Pro using Tensor G3 at all. Just a couple of apps on Android 14 not optimised yet causing some stutter.
If you want the Samsung save your cash and get an a54 I have the FE and the A54 and I can't see a big difference in day to day tasks the bad thing about the A54 is the proximity sencer it hirable. If I was looking for a phone with "stock android" I would get the moto edag+ for the same price as the pixel 8 NO QUESTION. Suggestion, you should do a podcast
I just picked up the S23 FE for $499, and then I had a Best Buy store credit of $50, so essentially, I paid $449 before taxes. Wifey's 🎄present 🎁

Samsung are really flogging the s23 fe to death at te moment in the UK. £100 cash back, free esr buds and 1yr Disney + works out at £355. I'm tempted but really want the 23+ because of the chip set and proper flagship build.
For me the Google Pixel 8 Pro is the easiest Choice by far!!
It's got the same cameras and the same processor as the Google Pixel 8 Pro, which compete with Iphone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra. Easy choice!!!
the Pixel 8/8 Pro compete more with the iPhone 12 and Samsung Galaxy s22
Why do you think so?😂
The Pixel has the best camera when it comes to taking photos! It open apps as fast or faster than the iPhone 15 in meny cases! Pure Android 14❤❤
I never say the Iphone 15 is or the 23 is bad, they are both great devices!!! I really do understand why people love the Iphone 🤩

I would think the lenovo Thinkphone beats both of them
I think id probably buy the 8pro or the s23 ultra
Flagship chip or flagchip?
Both
Google getting bashed because their brand new device is benching similarly as a 2 year old one 🤷🏻♂️
I agree. 👍🏻
The fact is, Apple's 3 nm A17 Pro is a full generation ahead of Qualcomm's SD 8 Gen 2 (and will very likely benchmark higher than even the Gen 3 when the S24 series is released in January), and the Tensor G3 is a full generation behind the SD Gen 2.
Snapdragon 8 gen 1 is not the same chip it was 2 years ago it's been optimized up the wazoo for s23fe, I think it is awesome to repurpose old silicon.
By optimized you mean heavily throttled 😂🫡
My brother got one the other day and I put it through the paces and it seems better than the s22 ultra I had last year, I have the S23ultra now and I will have to agree with you the s22 ultra was horrible in so many ways
I have a Pixel 7 and it is a major disappointment for me, the reason why I bought it was that everyone brags about the cameras, but sometimes my unit can't focus and by the times that it does, what I want to take a picture of, has moved on! The phone is not bright enough, it does not have 120 hz screen only 90, not dedicated zoom lens and the price of it has sunk deeper than the titanic for trade in value!!! I wanted to give it another try with the 8 and yet google offers me more money for my Iphone 12 than my less than a year old PIXEL! No. The A5x series
@@TechOdyssey hehe, Samsung's lineup always seems to confuse me 😁 way too many different models ( albeit, not necessarily a bad thing ) I've always opted for pixel and iPhones with their more streamlined lineup 😊

@@avatarofwoo plus pixel don't produce a device that's in the same class as the A54 and 34. The FE seems to tie in better with the pixel A series. The FE is a stripped down S series, the pixel A is a stripped down version of their flagship devices.
What's your point ?
Is the camera okay on the Samsung FE?
Yes.
Choice is difficult if you live in USA.
📌 Also, no release in Europe for S23 FE. Where i live,
Pixel 8 256Gb🟰789€
S23 256Gb🟰800€
S23 would be my choice with no doubt.
Pricing in USA and Europe are really different. Deals are really too.😲
Sorry but the pixel as many hardware issues. Also they do not have Samsung DEX and GooDlock, so no pixel for me ! Also they never keep their promises, so I do not believe in the 7 years of updates.
Why do you think the Google phone is more secure?
It has a Titan M2 chip from Google inside just for security
@@ace0341 yeah but are we sure that the Titan chip is more secure than Samsung Knox Vault?
Pixel 8 any day. No question.
Which one is better the A54 5g or the S23fe?
Definitely the fe, the a54 uses an exynos chip which is 🤢
If you thinking about the s23 and you in America just get a used s23 for the same price as fe
Not many people want a used phone.
Depending on what market you're in, the S23 FE also comes with an Exynos chip. The S23 FE is way better than the A54. I wouldn't buy it.
I wouldn't go back to the SD 8 Gen 1.
My two faves right now are s23u and pixel 8 pro.
Me either. It was NOT a good experience the first time around.
Which OnePlus are you using?
@@derricknyakundi1985 one plus Nord 300 but they won over $300 to get a battery replaced so I'll not be sticking with one plus.

S22 was garbage, worst phone I’ve owned in 10 years
It was pretty terrible
I went from an s21 ultra to a pixel 7 pro. The 7 pro is a cool phone with cool features, but it gets so hot when multi-tasking. Charges slowly and lags so much when it starts to heat up. I could not stand it anymore. Went to best buy to buy a S23 FE until the S24 ultra comes out. So far better battery life, doesnt get extremely hot, no lags and just a better phone. To me shows samsung has got the formula down and google needs to continue to improve. Would love to get another pixel but with my bad experience im not sure I will.
Pixel 8... Black Friday deal... $549 🎉 I can't wait to get my hands on my new Pixel (Coming from the Pixel 6)
Hows it going
643 gets you 256 RAM on Amazon vs128 and telephoto is better than macro for less money plus 6.2 inches is tiny and who cares about the weight you can get an S23 6.2 for less than the 8 as far as updates pixels are not as good and who actually keeps a phone for 7 years? not to mention 128 Rams going to be too little in about two years 256 will be the minimum.
The 7-year os update reminds me of manufacturer lifetime warranties in 5 years those updates will suck due to ram constrictions

I think the Google cameras and so called "legendary" processing is highly overrated... My wife's Zflip 3 blows my pixel 7's pictures and video out of the water.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The S23 Ultra chip is, the S23 FE chip is 2 years old

This dude is such a hypocrite. Says 8 Gen 1 is trash but Tensor G3 is good lol. Both are made in latest Samsung foundry and exynos 2200 should perform better as it has a large vc cooling system whilst the Pixel 8 series has none!
If only you understood the difference and the history in the SD8G1 and the advancements of the Tensor G3. I guess ignorance for you is just an opportunity for cool points on the internet.
bla0 bla bla , every chip that's manufacture by Samsung will have heat issue and low performance, so sd 8gen 1 and tensor are another victim along with exynos, you can say whatever u want about ai and stuff but efficiency it's all on a portable, only tsmc can manufacture chips that actually work , i had exynos, sd 8gen 1 phones and i don't wanna hear about Samsung anymore , they just don't raise up to expectations for what they charge
