  • What are the best budget computer studio monitor speakers? The Presonus Eris E3.5 are arguably the best budget monitor speaker. But are the Eris E4.5 better? I have been using the Presonus Eris E3.5" Nearfield Monitors for 2 years and I love them. They have volume control, aux in, headphone jack, RCA input, 1/4" balanced input and optional Bluetooth.

    I opted for the 3.5 set plus the Sub 8 subwoofer. The 3.5 and 4.5 have the same tweeter. I’m just asking less of the 3.5” speaker: I roll off at something like 120 Hz. Total price: $300, but the bass is everything I could ask for, better than with the 4.5 alone.

    Nice video I just picked these up at guitar center Bluetooth set. I have KRK rokits 8 monitors for my main playback but the Eris monitors are really good for mixing on a laptop. But it is nice to run two different pairs of monitors for mixing and mustering. Good video and good information with your sound testing.

    With higher volume the bass of the 3.5 was punchier and clearer than the bass of the 4.5 (a bit muddy in comparing and not as exact as the 3.5). I bought the 3.5 BT. No Sub needed.

    I did feel that 4.5 have a BIIG difference. But most probably because they were nearer to the desk, since you said that they actually do not have such a big difference in sound quality. Anyway thank you for the video, I want to buy one of these tomorrow and I am searching some info on the both.

    • @NickBorsellino

      I think they are both a great budget friendly speaker! Definitely just depends if you want the extra bass of the 4.5s. I listen to music on my 3.5's and they are set to a little over 1/2 volume and I never turn my computer up past 40% and they are great for me. Not super loud but I am sitting 3 feet in front of the speakers so I don't need them to be loud. Just nice clear music :) Although I have been considering adding a subwoofer when I want to add that extra bass in but it's usually a fleeting thought

    Frequency response Eris 3.5 is 80 Htz to 20khz
    Eris 4.5 is 70 Htz to 20 KHz so the 4.5 has a better bass response.

      I stick with 4.5 because i do some mixing works and i need monitors sound more close to adult sound with "body" and stuff so the Presonus 4.5 + Genelec F-one sub is my choice. I also have fancy KRK RP5 G4 and they sound much more real, full and adult but they sound a bit to much for my room and i have some "questions" for this model in general. They sound too awesome and whatever i tweak it sounds awesome and it's not good for mixing at all. Presonus looks like are more realistic truly sounding monitors.

      70 isn't enough to control bass. In order to control bass you have to hear at least 40 and 35 would be even better. Only sub or 8" monitors can help to handle this situation.

At least for me. Later on I will buy an S80 sub for them to have sub freqs, but in every videos I heard that the E3.5 gives more flat response and more worth the money. Well, I owned them both and I stuck with the 3.5 version. I think the 4.5 adds a little more volume and bass, which I guess can be good depending on what you're doing, but not if you're looking for a more flat neutral sound. I've never tried the sub, but I could see how that would be useful as well. I honestly had a hard time deciding which one to keep but I didn't notice a huge enough difference for twice the cost. I think the 3.5 is a really great set of speakers. You can't go wrong with either one though in my opinion!

    sorry Sir, but you put them at different heights - this produces different reflections from your big desk, which colours (changes!) midrange differently, and we're not listening to the 3.5 on tweeter level, like we do with the 4.5s, but rather from below. This really is important, sir, since it could change the sound almost as much as switching from one pair to the other. Equal height, and thus also equal desk reflections - bare minimum, otherwise pointless. Many greetings. M.

    4.5 is fuller, 3.5 is a great budget option. include a sub with 3.5's and you are laughing. 5's are better than 4.5's again but then you should be looking at something nicer overall

    • @NickBorsellino
      @NickBorsellino  Год назад +1

      Yeah it all depends on what you're application for them is. For me, I returned the 4.5s and kept the 3.5s because I liked the flatter sound for video editing. If I was looking for speakers for watching movies I would go for the 4.5 but even then that's not what these speakers are designed for at all

    • @cartorius
      @cartorius Год назад +2

      @@NickBorsellino gotta agree. I have used alot of speakers myself but for a small bedroom with no treatment you can't go wrong with the 3.5's and keep them at a reasonable level.

    The sound of the 4.5 sounds too nasal for me. The 3.5 has less power but sounds more natural because that's what you want when you are mixing. Ultimately, more bass always sounds better, but realize that most kids listen to music with small speakers or headphones. So mixing with a smaller version is better anyway. This is independent of the purchase price. When you are a real pro mix with different types a small one but also a large one Yamaha (not so expensive) or even an ATC 45 but these are € 10.000

    After a year with 3.5 and 4.5 with Sub8, honestly I will tell everyone - THEY JUST SUCK. If you play electric guitar thru interface, or you listen rock/metal, these will not make you happy. External DAC will help, but still... no mids, no punch, much distortion, lifeless.... only good side is price point, but again, if I may say.... better buy nothing than struggle with these. Have a nice day.

    Why the fuck would you think recording the speakers would translate to people listening to your video

    • @duvalpenny100
      @duvalpenny100 Год назад +4

      It absolutely does to some extent. If you can't tell the difference it's because you're probably watching this video with the sound coming out of your phone which has 0 Bass to begin with.
      Watch it with a good sound system or good headphones and the difference is very noticeable.

    Am getting back into DJing as a hobby. Had a set of decks 20 years ago but life took over and didn't have much time for the hobby but intent on getting back into it with a beginner set up...DJ controller running Traktor or Rekordbox and some small speakers with good quality sound, just to mess around with in my man cave. 😁 Would anyone recommend the Eris 3.5s or something different???

    • @NickBorsellino
      @NickBorsellino  Год назад +1

      if you are looking for speakers for DJing then I'm not sure if the 3.5s would have enough bass and oomph for you. Nearfield monitors are best used within 2-4 feet so for being at home they would work. I just think you might be happier with the 4.5s for extra bass and fuller sound. Considering you're just "messing around" anything will probably do just fine. But there might even be a better option for you in the same budget depending on how you're exactly planning to set it up.

      3.5 arü, amazing for testing sound. They dont drip sound qiality or lose highs or mids as . The adjysting if the highs n lis behind the speaker beforü gand or as a record plays gets it exactly eight. U feel like your in studio hearing an album as it eücorsed. No exaggerarion. Place speajers at optimal soot in room. İn a clised room fantastic. Opening one vvindovv frane gives u another depth to tge songs. Fantasticcc.
