Y'all are awesome. This show has been a music trip down memory lane for me. I am from a small town in Indiana and was tbe class of '86 so Nancy and Steve are my age. There are so many things that trigger memories here. Thanks again for everything. 🎸🔥🎸

Max having suicidal ideations & then realizing she actually didn’t want to die is literally how those who suffer through depression & who failed suicide feels. Her in episode 4 and then in this episode truly broke me and had me sobbing.

Same. That's why I am so relieved they didn't kill her off. That would've been such an unsatisfying end to her arc and not to mention quite a bad message to send after everything she's been through. I know the situation is still quite dire but I would love to see her continue to persevere to live.

That was goood, but i fell like her acting was too calm in that scene, i wish she gave us more, that would have broke people, especially from a character that tries to remain calm all the time
She wasn't looking to die a gruesome death as she said in Episode 4. And having guilt and thinking doesn't seal the deal that she has active intentions for it. That's my impression.
The scene that broke me was Max sobbing about how she couldn’t feel or see and how scared she was. Lucas looking around not knowing what to do to help her but stroke her hair and tell he knows she is scared. It was so chilling to me. 😭😭 I cant even imagine.
Absolutely. It stirred up memories of when my best friend had stage four cancer and nothing was working. It had to be scary for him.
Even the fact he was begging his sister for help and he never ask her for anything
And the fact when she saw them she did not make any dumb quips she seemed horrified she was even in her hospital room and she seemed sad

People expect folks to die like Eddie or gurgling like a war movie casualty, but in reality people are often frantic and flailing, and Sadie Sink really got that right

right before he said it I said to the tv " you didnt run away this time" and then when he said it I broke
I like how Eddie says “okay” after Dustin says he’s gunna be fine once they get to a hospital. He’s saying that to humour him. He knows he’s dead, but doesn’t wanna just say that to Dustin.
Lucas’ reaction to Max’s “death” gets me every time. I loved his acting in that scene.

@@ghandiman The stranger things writers posted that it was on Twitter. Same with Eddie's "I love you, man" to Dustin and Jopper's second kiss in the prison. All improvised by the actors.
and it was kinda ruined when El brought her back wish they just stuck to their guns and actually killed her off but they're too scared to kill off beloved characters

Eddie’s death was so hard for me and Dustin’s reaction made me cry even more. I am so glad that Dustin got to tell Eddie’s uncle that he died a hero. Max saying she was scared and didn’t want to die was heartbreaking, Sadie Sink and Caleb McLaughlin were outstanding in that scene. A great season and cannot wait until season 5.

Honestly I think I broke down harder when Dusty was talking to Eddie's uncle... he deserved SO much better
I can see Dustin carrying on Eddie's torch. Leading Hellfire, becoming a metalhead, and willing to throw down if people drag Eddie's name through the mud.
Eddie reminded me so much of myself in high school. I was heart broken seeing how he went out 😢
max’s “death” reminded me of peter parker
They actually based Eddie on a real person. There was a triple homicide of three eight-year-old boys in 1994. The satanic panic was in full swing and they pinned the crime on 3 teenagers (the Memphis three) who were “different”. Damien Echols was dubbed the ringleader. He wrote dark literature, had long messy hair, wore dark clothes, and liked heavy metal music. You can see the similarities. I honestly think that’s one of the reasons they left Eddie’s reputation wrecked. The men in the actual case were convicted despite almost no evidence. In 2010 new dna evidence came to light and it didn’t match any of the men but they only got out by issuing an Alford plea. Basically the court didn’t want to look like they messed up, so they offered the deal because Echols was on death row and they knew he would take it to save his life. They are still trying to actually clear their names to this day.

He is proven innocent esp with incontrovertible DNA evidence. And there is not much comparison between either. Maybe inspiration but that's about it.

Probably because some of the "evidence" that convicted him was a "psychologist" that testified that listening to Metallica proved he was a violent psychopath. It wasn't coincidence that Metallica was specifically chosen as the way Eddie tries to help _save_ the world
That scene with max and lucas deserves an award. That was some of the best acting ive seen revolving around somebody “dying” it was so realistic. The things max was saying is the things ppl that are dying say. The things lucas was doing and saying such as the looking around for help, the stroking her hair not knowing how to help, screaming for erica to help out of adrenaline bc she cant do anything besides call 911. Best scene ive probably ever seen in a show
Max's death is truly heartbreaking. She doesn't wanna die and she's begging for help. It's one of the saddest things ever.

I feel like the show gives you 30 seconds or so to wipe away the tears from watching Eddie’s death just to punch you in the face with max’s death. This was such an unbelievable season of tv, every single member of the cast new and old brought deep emotional performances.
The soundtrack, the shots and the story were all next level this season too.
Have to give a special shout out to Millie, Caleb, Sadie and Noah for their performances, so gut wrenching and raw I really hope the fact that they are younger actors or on streaming shows doesn’t dissuade them from getting award nominations and wins because they all thoroughly deserve it.

My theory: since Vecna/One said that everyone he kills stays with him, Eleven is not just going to kill him in the final season, but she’s going to try to rip the part that is Max out of him and cast it into her body to bring her fully back. That’s why they kept referencing that those he kills don’t fully die, and why they explicitly showed that Max’s body is just an empty shell now.
Thats actually a pretty good theory. It also brings more significance then simply "she got better" by having Eleven literally save her. She kept her body from dying but now she has to save her mind from vecna.
Another theory, the possibility that Eleven might die killing Vecna and shutting out the Upside Down for good.
@@ZeddiLeppi I'm not inclined to think Eleven will do the sacrifice thing again. They will figure out a way, and perhaps Eleven will tap into some new power to seal it for good without dieing. Afterall brenner was sure she hadnt reached her full potential yet and even Eleven knows it but she has to figure this out on her own. I have pretty good idea how they will do it as theres been bread crumbs dropped throughout the show pointing to how Eleven unlocks her full abilities. It has to do with her emotions, she's been taught that her negative emotions focus her powers, but often she has the most control and strength whens she's having happy memories and feeling loved. I think that's the key to her reaching her true potential, the negative emotions are actually holding her back and she'll realize it. That's how she will be strong enough to defeat vecna and seal the upside down. I imagine the final battle will be epic in scale.
This is what I was hoping for as well, except I realized that vecne didn’t her memories and soul, because otherwise why would she still be aware of who she is and those around her after vecne left her mind and Lucas was holding her? Seems like he soul passed on and she was brain dead for so long that after eleven resurrected her, it was too late… I hope you’re right, but it seems unlikely
The duffers have already confirmed that Max's current condition plays a pivotal role in the final season. So there is a reason for it.

This episode was so good but literally broke me. I cried twice for Eddie. His death and then when Dustin told his uncle he was a hero. I’m so concerned about Max as well. But this show has been amazing all season. It’s def my favorite season now.
I was yelling at my tv when eddie died and I cried at the scene when max was speaking then die for a minute.
They should've killed Max for real. I like her but nobody dies in this damn thing other than characters introduced at the start of the season.

@@ilikepineappleonpizza4257 The point of her surviving is twofold. First, that Eleven did everything she could and wasn't able to fully rescue her, and that we don't know if she is brain dead or if her mind is taken by Vecna while the body is still alive.

I really hate that their killing off new characters the seasons their introduced, killing off characters that have been there for a while like Max has much more emotional impact, and gives them the ability to bring new people on and hopefully keep them there for more seasons. that max and lucas scene was so beautifully done by sadie and caleb. caleb improvising calling to erica for help was heartbreaking but absolutely perfect. i was definitely in tears 😭 overall, sadie sink was the standout this season for me. she is phenomenal.

Caleb did an incredible job. Man I felt like my son was hurting and I couldn’t do anything to help him it broke me.

Regardless of how anyone else took it. I think Eddie went out in a way he wanted. The same went for him, regardless of what anyone else thought about him, he chose to distract them longer and to die fighting them off. He wanted to stop running, and not only that, Chrissy is still clearly very present in his thoughts and he had Dustin there with him. I’ve also not been that emotionally invested in a character in one season in a long long time. The one aspect that makes it so fucking sad is that they’ll never know he was innocent, the town will always see him in that light and yes his character deserves better than that. They would have loved him. Rest peacefully Eddie Munson.

Max is my favorite character of the show--been able to connect with her the most since her first appearance. Was absolutely sobbing so uncontrollably while she was crying in Lucas' arms, saying how terrified she was of dying after spending months pleading with the universe to kill her. That death, whether she's gone for good or not, is going to stick with me for a very very long time. Still not over it haha
Sadie Sink just brought a natural chrasima and likeability to Max. And as a young actress bringing a new character into an established cast in the second season of a love show as big a ST must have been daunting, but she nailed it and Max fit in perfect.

And you forgot how she prayed for her brother to die...?? Yeah, great character development. Since she came in the second season I felt she was a filler role and an annoying one. I have been hoping for her character to grow, like Robins and even Eddie's, but since season two, she's been subpar. Hopefully season 5 can better her character because she's really the worst. I'd rather have Bob back.

Fun Fact: Joseph Quinn (Eddie) spent months learning how to play MoP (he'd been playing guitar for years, but not that song), & what you're hearing is his performance (recorded & dubbed in, of course). He got everything down *except* the solo. For the solo, they brought in Tye Trujillo, who is the son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo...
He can't be that good on guitar then as Master of Puppets is all power chords except for the solo and you can learn those chords in a day.
@@krashd Master of Puppets played properly with all down strokes in a way that sounds good and clean and not rushed and sloppy is definitely not something your average guitar player can learn in a day.

2 hours and 22 minutes. A masterpiece. I’ve never been so emotional, wound so tight, so stressed, so angry…..every emotion, I felt it. There are so many things I loved, loved when hopper slays the demogorgon with the sword and it switches between that and Steve, Robin and Nancy lighting Vecna up. That version of running up that hill to those visuals? Perfect. Eddie, Max, cried and cried. Still feels awful. The music that played in the final scene where they’re looking out over Hawkins, that was like some big blockbuster movie soundtrack kind of music, phenomenal. The stakes were raised this season, and this season went above and beyond. Well done, Stranger Things, you outdid yourself.

The scene where El and Hop are reunited gets me everytime. The acting is so genuine and sincere. 😭
The most bad ass thing is Joseph Quinn himself. He really learned how to play the Master of Puppets riff from James. And you could clearly see that by the motion of his fingers on the fretboard. Everbody who can play guitar, knows that MoP is one of the hardest songs to play (even the rhythm-guitar). Especially when your are only downpicking (like James Hetfield does).
I love that the creators of the series really focused on this detail. I hate it when actors only pretend to play an instrument.
I'm not sure if you heard this but Rob Trujillo son actually played the solo he's credited for it...it's the one part the actor couldn't get....
@@jase4010 Jepp, and that makes it even better! The whole band responded. They are fans of the show and they really liked what they made out of their song. It is no surprise that they like the show. James and Kirk are huge Lovecraft fans. I actually discovered Lovecraft because of their Song The Call of Ktulu!

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised to see realistic fret-hand action during that scene, not the usual spaghetti fingers that they have in TV shows and movies lol. MoP is not one of the hardest songs to play though, it's tough but would say it's intermediate level if you ignore the solo. The solo is super hard.

I think Vecna "absorbed" Max. Hence why Eleven saw into Max's head and it was empty. So in season 5 Eleven needs to battle Vecna and take Max back.
I liken it to having to go save Han from Jabba’s lair. This season went hard Empire Strikes Back.

the duffer brothers said in a podcast that max is braindead, blind, and has broken bones. Knowing this and the fact that vecna takes everything from his victims, I think max will be irrelevant in season 5 until they defeat vecna. Will will now be one of the most important people next season, possibly giving up his life to save hawkins. They also said that the series finale runtime will be similar to a feature film, and I hope they can release in in the theaters cus I would love to watch it in imax. Very excited!
Agreed, first thing I thought was that Veccna absorbed her when she died. He wasn't just being a psycho when he said all of his victims live within him. Once they kill him she'll return to her body.
the duffers also said the demobats "aren't deadly" and in vol 2 they're the reason eddie died lol. honestly i don't think they can reveal what's the plan for max BECAUSE it will play a big part. otherwise they wouldn't be a reason to keep her alive. in my opinion she'll either be used by vecna as a vessel or max's mind is trapped/lost in vecna's (remember 001 said all his victims are with him in his head + brenner said 001 consumes his victims, their memories and abilities) or in between dimensions since el stopped vecna before he completely consumed her (even tho she did die after, but he hasn't completed the entire process..) and could play a big part in finding out a way to defeat vecna from within.

The guy that sees Erica climbing in the playground was the same guy that was at the meeting with the police officers that Jason took over. He's the one that got up at the end and said, "What are y'all waiting on. You heard him." He called and let them know where Erica was at.
Eddie's death was sad, but the scene that got me bawling was Dustin talking to Wayne. The lip tremble, the limp as he holds out the necklace, the resignation on Wayne's face... I was sobbing.
What did they do with Max , the girl just suffers, lost her brother, her WHOLE family is broken, her stepfather left her mother full of debts, her mother only drinks and works herself to death, her real father abandoned her, she faces anxiety, depression, guilt, pain all alone keeping it for her, she was blind, all bent, broken, in a coma, no memories, because I just want her to be happy a little she doesn't deserve this, I'm destroyed!

As folks have likely commented elsewhere, notice how the two main people who make up Max’s happiest memories, Lucas and El, are there when she dies. Caleb’s acting got to me so hard because it externally represents what I felt internally when my mom passed away from cancer. I remember flailing on the inside not wanting her to leave me. When she died, I was shattered. Altho, it was 20 years ago, I still remember that day like it was yesterday.
Watching this reaction is like therapy to recover from the trauma of watching the finale. You guys are my support group.

The scene when Eddie is dying in Dustin's arms hurts me deeply. I never cry in movies and shows but THIS specific scene always makes me cry. I have watched this 3 times now.
I was blindsided by The 1, 2, 3 punch of Eddie, Max and then the hellmouth opening. I normally hate characters being resurrected but I will take whatever flimsy contrivance they can cook up to return Eddie to us.
Cool fact : Eddie's actor Joseph Quinn was playing Master of Puppets for real on set. They have him playing along to a backing track on set and they had Aidan Fisher play the close up solo we see on screen but Joe played most of it himself. Metallicas's bassist son also played additional guitar for the studio track so a lot of attention to detail went into making this scene so metal!
That finale was some of the best writing I've ever seen. Epic!

I actually love that this finale took a Empire Strikes Back turn, like it wasn’t afraid to not have an unhappy ending. Darth Vader won and Vecna won, Luke is back with the rebels and 11 is back with her friends. Max’s and Eddie’s deaths were probably the saddest of the whole show, even though Max is still alive kind of.
The acting from such young actors has been amazing in this series. It's been an emotional rollercoaster.
Max & Lucas are amazing characters, actors & couple. I still can't get over it. 😭
Absolutely loved the scene with Eddie playing Master of Puppets. 🎸 I already loved the song so it paired with the cinematography was amazing. I hope Max can recover. I wasn't fully convinced she would die but when her limbs broke and then she couldn't see, I was so sad for her. The ground breaking all around Hawkins was insane. Then Dustin's scene with Eddie's uncle was really sweet. Everything about this episode was done so well. 💕

What a great season, all the actors brought their A-game, and the season finale was emotionally brutal. Goodbye Eddie, you only appeared in one season, but you were one of the best and had one of the top 3 scenes of all Stranger Things.

There's no way they left Eddie's body in the upside down. When Nancy Steve and Robyn returned from the house I'm sure they helped Dustin and Eddie back through.
The reason max’s scene hits so hard with me is because she did have really bad depression this whole season and dreamt about dying, she wanted to die. And then when faced with death head on, she was crying and begging for her life and how she’s not ready, how she didn’t wanna die. It’s so heavy and such an accurate depiction on depression it hits hard
Max's writing this whole season was probably the best character work in the series, except maybe season one Eleven. Best part of the season imo.
I got to admit I kinda got teary eyed when Eddie died but I didn't ball my eyes out. Rip Eddie! What a great finale and reaction.

The battle attire, specifically the beret instantly made me think of two 80's flicks. Lost Boys and Red Dawn. The Frog Brothers and the Wolverines. Anyway, dope season. Can't wait for what's next.

You’re literally the FIRST reaction that I’ve watched to Eddie, for the longest time I couldn’t hear or watch anything with that scene or I’d start crying, I got so attached to him and his character, and when I first watched the episode I cried my eyes out and I was really depressed going to bed and when I woke up hoping it was just a dream, I’m still heartbroken as hell and cry every time. The scene with him and Dustin I just can’t get over it, sad slow songs make me think about it idk why. He’s a real hero, but they shouldn’t have killed him off I’m so mad, they should of made him a man in character like robin. He can actually play the guitar and that song btw which is pretty cool. There was a video of him at some meet and greets where he was crying cause he’s realized how appreciated he is and how we love him. you notice will's nose bleeding at the end? she should of saved eddie too.
i really do hope gaten, sadie, and caleb win awards for their performances this season because WOW.
The part with Eddie's uncle was especially sad. He knew from jump street that Eddie was innocent and could not have hurt Chrissy. He had every reason to believe he had, but he knew his nephew. And he also wouldn't have stopped looking for him, despite the town wanting to wipe away his name. Dustin gave him the bad news, but also the closure Mr. Munson needed that he WAS innocent and died a hero. He also won't have to go through what Barb's poor parents had to. Even though we never got much of a backstory on Eddie, other than his dad taught him to hot-wire cars, which indicates he was probably a criminal of sorts, it does show that he did have a stable and loving relationship with his uncle. Yes, Eddie was a third year senior and a rebel, but considering that Eddie spent more time with his guitar and his Hellfire club than stealing cars and getting into trouble, (well, except the RV...but he was saving the world, ok? Lol) I'm sure he was ok with that. If anything, Eddie's uncle kept Eddie grounded and shaped him into who he was, the best he could.
Great reaction! I love how open you both are with your emotions, comments, and facial expressions. This episode is insane with the editing, I want to add. That team definitely deserves recognition.
A lot of great moments in this episode. I think my two favorites are Nancy and her Sarah Connor moment. And of course at the end when Steve has his Dad moment folding cloths while Robin talks to the girl she likes.
