This season was honestly phenomenal imo. It got really dark yet kept its charm. The transitions of scenes were so flawless throughout the whole season too and I’m just glad I got to experience it. Also super hyped to see how this story will conclude.
Omg it was great! They keep building on the foundations they have set from the previous seasons. They are progressing like they should. I'm actually surprised on how well they balanced all the stories consider how long each episode was.
I kind of like how they kept will/mike and crew in the background, I get the feeling they'll be needed when the show returns.. but yeah the pacing/themes ect were great. I was worried it was a new big bad that wasn't connected to anything, but yeah a great season.

IMO, so far this is the best season of the entire show. It’s much darker, riveting, layered, high stakes, absolutely incredible storytelling. It’s BRILLIANT

Nothing like good horror done well, especially because it’s such a rare occurrence. Think they’ve added just enough horror to the Sci fi to make it truly dark. Love it.

Angela really is the worst. I've been El in many situations like that growing up. Kids can be cruel.
If we’d grown up together, I would have taken you into the fold, and protected you with safety in numbers, fierce loyalty and a mob deep of friends who had your back. Which is what my friends and I did for anyone being bullied. And no one messed with any of us. I’m sorry you didn’t have that. But thankfully, the school years turn out to be a very small part of one’s life, and don’t last forever. 👍
@@rebeccahopkins9522 Aww thank you so much. That means a lot. Thankfully nothing got violent although there were threats at one point. Mostly rude comments and snickering like the classroom scene. All based on assumptions because I was quiet and dressed very punk/emo. I actually love Gothic style things but I wouldn't say I dressed goth in particular. That's what people assumed though because they don't know the difference so some assumed I must be a "devil worshipper" lol. I don't even care for religion or have a problem with anyone's beliefs. It helped me become tougher mentally and emotionally at least.
I beat the school bullies ass for trying to fuck with me at lunch lmao his reputation was ruined and his "friends" switched up on him and tried to hang with me but at the time I was an introvert so I just didn't care. Moral of the story fight back your bullies and things will turn out great for you, even if you lose you still fought.

To be fair, they blew the Hopper being alive thing in the post credits scene of the season 3 finale. When they said “the American” I feel like we all knew it was him.
True, but it could have been Brenner too, because I just didn't buy him being dead. We saw no body. No body, no death.
Yes, it could have been Hopper or Brenner with the "American" line stinger. But the trailers just literally showed that Hopper was alive, so it wasn't something they were hiding that's for sure.

I mean, I certainly didn’t think it was going to be Hopper, due to the fact that I thought the show might want us to take on screen character death seriously. I thought that maybe they caught Murray while we weren’t following him, due to the fact that we don’t really see him on the last chunk of S3E8. When they revealed Hopper was alive on the S4 trailers, I was kinda upset, but ngl, S4 would not have been nearly as good without him.

So many surprises this season. And in terms of cinematography and directing and plot leading is absolutely awesome. Can't wait to see ur reaction guys. The BEST SEASON by far.
I did not expect Steve to become my favourite character at this point when I was watching the first season. That is how well written the character is with one of the best character development arcs.
And he wasn't even supposed to be a major character, but they liked the actor and expanded the role

@@derps0n839 furreal. my sister let me see the original evil dead when it came out because she was pissed she had to babysit me. i had just turned 7. i was terrified of our basement for like 6 months afterwards, but now it’s my favorite film in my favorite genre 🤷🏼♀️ by the time nightmare on elm street came out when i was 9 my mom said fuckit and let me see it 😃 spoiler alert: my mom was awesome.

The guy playing Eddie is a fantastic actor. Wait till he describes how Chrissy died to part of the crew.

I like how the show got darker and more mature to accomodate the younger cast members getting older. I love shows that adapts like that. The amped up horror element was much needed.

The whole Hop being alive really wasn't spoiled because there was ZERO chance of keeping the fact David Harbour was filming this season a secret for 2 years
Also there was the last scene of season three in the Russian prison when they said not to feed "the American" to the Demodog. Sure, they didn't show Hopper or say his name, but it was absolutely clear to me that he was still alive and captured in Russia. No surprise whatsoever, even though I didn't watch any teaser or trailer for season 4.
This show does Dungeons and Dragons so well. Vecna is such a legendary lich, an undead creature so powerful that it literally manipulates the forces of life and death in the game. Joe Manganiello, who played Flash Thompson in Maguire's Spiderman, and Deathstroke in Justice League, played a character that not only stole the hand and eye of Vecna, two very powerful artifacts in the game, but replaces his eye and hand in order to make his escape in the game. He changed the game forever by doing that, as new adventure modules were wrtiten with his character's events as the core of the adventure for the rest of us. Also, D&D was actually viewed as a demonic cult in the US. Especially in the 80s when a boy named James Dallas Egbert III disappeared and they found out he used to play the game, so of course the blamed it on that. Tom Hanks played a version of him in a movie called Mazes and Monsters. Great reactions! Looking forward to more from you two! (I had to wait to watch this until after I saw the episode!)
"With the right crew, I bet D&D is a lot of fun" It's like the basketball parallel - With the right crew it makes the experience real-- otherwise it just feels like tossing balls into laundry baskets.
We let our two oldest kids (14 and 11) watch the first three seasons for the first time last fall around Halloween time. They both handled it well, so we decided we'd all watch season 4 together when it came out. Our 14 year old was okay, but our 11 year old was pretty freaked out by the end of this episode (and she had handled all the other scary stuff in the series just fine before this). She ended up opting out of the rest of the season for now and I don't blame her because this season was definitely super dark and a lot for even an adult to watch. Anyway, enjoyed your reaction as always and can't wait to watch the rest of this season's reactions too!
Being an 80’s ( 1981 ) kid, this series brings me so much nostalgia ! This is hands down my favorite season, even though they are all special in their own ways. You’re going to love it !
Love that Nikki was the only reactor I’ve seen to catch the mlm job. 😂 This season was amazing but it was actually way scarier than the previous ones. I binge watched through the night and was scared to go to the restroom. 💀
I grew up with a mom that did the tupperware, so I was familiar with it too.
The only thing i could think of was how last season they didnt wanna play d&d with Will and now that he is gone theyre playing again.. if i was will and found that out id feel so betrayed
The reason why they revealed it the way they did for Hopper was because Noah Schnapp (Will) accidentally spoiled him not being dead so they made an official announcement to let everyone know Hopper was alive in Russia. I think otherwise they wouldn't have done that.
I tried to just watch a couple episodes over the weekend, but ended up binging all episodes. This season is just phenomenal. You guys are in for quite a ride.

This season I can honestly say scared, shocked, surprised me. My brain was in overload with everything that was happening. It was so much. Won’t give away spoilers but the way the story unfolds and is told was phenomenal.
I'm always surprised by the amount of people that don't know this but the reason they released the teaser with the reveal of Hopper is because the actor (David Harbour) spoiled in an interview that Hopper was alive and in Russia. If I remember right, he also confirmed that he had started shooting scenes for the new season. The show runners had no choice but to release something in response. I hope this explains a little better about why that teaser exists. Love the reaction! Can't wait to see the rest as well!

Fun fact: The character of Eddie was loosely based on Damien Echols, who was a victim of the 80s Satantic Panic when he and two of his friends were wrongfully accused and convicted of the murder of three little boys in West Memphis. They became collectively known as the West Memphis Three.

NOT A SPOILER. Dr.Brenner is attacked in the end of season 1 by the Demogorgon and is presumed dead with no body to show, but in Season 2 El and girl who created hallucinations found out that Brenner is alive but had no proof of that.
I don't think the spoiler took too much away from this season and it honestly hyped it up for me, because I couldn't wait to see what happened.
At the end of season one, Matthew Modine was jumped by the Demogorgon. He was not shown to be killed, but I think many assumed.
This season is amazing, i love everything about it!

I learned about Dungeons & Dragons when I was in the Air Force in the early eighties. It can be lots of fun, and a great way to spend a Saturday, if you have a group committed to the fantasy. I also remember the Satanic Panic that happened in this country around the same time where the game was demonized. Love your reactions!
Oh yeah, I remember the Satanic Panic back then also. I was just old enough around 85 or so to see people literally freaking out over D&D and how it was "corrupting" youth and all that dumb garbage. I never really got into D&D itself (I did play it for a little bit but grew out of it pretty quick also) but the whole point of the game is to be involved in the story and "inhabit" your character - and work with friends for the game.
‘With the right crew, I bet D&D is fun.” It is from what I’ve heard. I personally haven’t played but have seen some of a varying degree (including models made for the settings instead of the typical graph paper). In fact, there are a couple of web-based series/podcasts that are recordings of sessions actually played. Critical Role was born out of a bunch of friends playing D&D, as well as The Adventure Zone. But, yeah, with the right crew, it can be fun.
Any time I see that wrestlemania shirt with the Ultimate Warrior staring back at me, I can't help but get distracted. Love the shirt and love the content.
The best season of all seasons for sure!
-Characters development - perfect!
-80's stylistic, the whole image and atmosphere, costumes, music - perfect!
-Plot twists -perfect
-Mix of drama, dark fantasy, horror and conedy - perfect!
I'll be honest I went to a HS that had about 3.5-5K students. It was a magnet school, and I came from a magnet Junior High (magnet schools required testing to get in). Our Junior High was a feeder for the 3 main magnet HS's in NYC, so a bunch of my friends, including some of my best friends, ended up at the same HS. It was a fairly easy transition. While I was kinda a nerd at heart, so were many of the kids there, so it wasn't weird, or stood out or anything. I also played sports, and I wasn't a super dork...so I kinda hung out with both nerds and the "cool kids" (especially in Senior Year). So overall I had an easy time at school as far as any kinda emotional or bullying nonsense goes. It didn't hurt that I got to be a tad over 6'2" and like 200-215lbs (at the time)...so no one ever tried to physical bully me, and I could dish it as good as I got it, verbally.
After stranger things final season, I can’t wait for the the Duffer brothers’ next project. Hopefully they dwell in more with the horror/sci-fi genre since they’re super successful in that realm. No doubt in mind that the next thing they create will be a masterpiece.
I agree, I hope Netflix (or whoever honestly) just gives them cart blanche to do whatever they want because they sure know how to not only nail the look of things but the feel of things as well. And they have gotten SO much better as directors and producers, it's honestly mind blowing the differences between S1 and this season alone. Cinematography alone is film level here. It helps that the cast is so good also :D
Whether they wind up doing more Stranger Things related stuff (a spin off maybe or sequel series set in modern times or something) or just something new entirely - I'm down for it.
I don't think they will do any other projects since this show exploded and made them millionaires.

Yes this is a very dark season, 80s horror at its core. Very Nightmare on Elm Street-ish.
But there are also a lot of comedic moments.

And here I thought everyone pretty much knew who the american was mentioned at the end of season 3. That's probably partly why they released that teaser since we all knew already anyway.

The symbolism of the visions(nightmares) that the monster projects is crazy and very intentional. Chrissy's mom's dialog and the image of the dad having his eyes and mouth stitched shut. It tells you a lot about her home life.
So happy you guys got some free time to do this. This is the best season so far for me and I loved the 1st 3 seasons.

Agreed on the Hopper teaser, you guys. I was also dismayed at learning it through a cutscene instead of it being a big reveal after a cliffhanger. After that I chose not to watch any other teasers, or the first eight minutes that was released. I wanna go in FRESH. Just like Frank Costanza.

They really crushed it with this season! This is such an incredible love letter to mid-late 80's horror that it felt like a movie from Full Moon. That was my youth and I busted a gut laughing at Eddie because that was definitely me at that age, skull rings included 😆😆😆

when I saw the character Eddie on screen, instantly loved this character. But also, his face seemed so familiar. OF course I then look it up on google to find out that he was one of the Stark guards from winterfell who wasn't letting Arya into winterfell in season 7 of GoT

At a Q&A after season 3 Noah was asked who had a good storyline in season 4 he replied well hopp then stop as he just revealed Hopper wasn't dead. After that they let out the trailer so I wonder if they only let that out because noah accidently leaked it. You can find the video of him saying it online
I do get what they were saying about the from Russia with love teaser it would have been cool if the first news of hopper was the package

it was obvious that Hopper was alive even without any teasers and trailers, with such an ending for season 3
He was in the middle of a huge explosion. And even with the line of dialogue, you do t give that reveal in any kind of promotional material. Let all find out and get the confirmation in the show, not a teaser.
i'm just sitting here waiting patiently for you to react to episode 4 lol.. This season so far has been the best out of the 4 in my opinion.. and we still have another half to go..
I’m thinking maybe Chrissy doesn’t need drugs to numb things, she just needs to be friends with Eddie and just have better friends in general...
I think Chrissy needed them because she was having nightmares and seeing vecna and thought she was going crazy
But I do agree Chrissy and Eddie would have made good friends

This season was awesome. Some brilliant writing and tones, I honestly couldn't get enough. Roll on July for the next series.
