I agree with Steve’s observation that teachers totally know about bullying and don’t do anything. Or, they’ll get angry at the victim for standing up.
That's definitely the exception. It's often hard to catch bullying, even in a classroom, and most teachers do want to help.

Angela is pretty bad.
Fred ran home after an accident instead of calling the police (cop/monster said it). So Fred thinks and feels guilty that the person in the accident died because he didn't get them help.
Like Chrissy throwing up seemed to be bulimic because her mom kept going on about her weight (her dad didn't know so his eyes and mouth were seen shut in her hallucination) and Chrissy saw the table full of old food.
Ohhh I didn’t even make the connection of why her dad was like that and why the table was full of uneaten food!! I thought Vecna was just pulling out whatever horrifying imagery he could think of but you’re totally right, all of it was connected

I think her dad did know but refused to acknowledge it hence his mouth was down and eyes shut because he wouldn’t speak up for her and turned a blind eye to it

Your husband is correct about someone being bullied being pushed hard enough to the breaking point, I was bullied and I hit a breaking point where I sent my bully to the hospital. I regretted it but it was blind rage (seeing black). Bullies also get to a point where they can physically hurt their victims and even not have remorse so even tho violence is wrong, sometimes people get what they deserve if they keep shitting and bullying people. Jane (Eleven) could've gotten a concussion from her fall while everyone laughed. People fall in rinks all the time but hers was done ill intent.

I almost seriously hurt a girl who was bulling me in middle school. Similarly enough to this episode, it happened in a roller skating rink, but it wasn't as dramatic. Some girls made me cry, one followed me to the bathrooms, and in a panic, I almost kicked her skull in with one of the skates on my feet when she tried to crawl underneath the stall door. I wonder what would have happened if I didn't miss.

I feel so bad for Will. At this point it's not even about him losing part of his childhood, but the fact that Mike has been an asshole to him
...and he's obviously gay (or struggling with his sexuality). Remember, this is mid '80's, he probably doesnt feel he can tell his brother and doesn't know how to tell Mike.When the girl in class tried to play footsie he pulled back.

Keep the grandfather clock sounds in mind and go back to the very first episode when will falls off the bike. He hears the same bell when he falls and Vecna looks like he was in the road to make him fall off. If that's true amazing job by the writers for having it all figured out

I thought this season was just going to be weird based on the trailer, and I wasn’t hyped for it, but this ended up being the best season so far in my opinion, I was absolutely blown away by the storytelling by the end of episode 7 👏🏻
El smashing the bully in the face with the skate was shocking to see, but yeah, it’s not like it was unprovoked, you can’t treat someone like that and not expect some comeback.
If El had her power, this would have been a Carrie scenario, lol!

As someone who was a student playing D&D in the 1980s, this season really takes me back! From Eddie's Vecna campaign to the reaction of townspeople who don't have a clue, it's so spot-on.... I remember college club recruitment days, getting lectured by religious zealots who saw me carrying the Monster Manual and completely believed the "Satanic Panic" narrative about the game.

yeah that satanic panic cost me my og hardcover 1st edition books. 😠 though i recall vecna as just being reduced to a hand and an eye. having to fight the whole being was a pretty high-level thing to do. and i guess they couldn't use the word "lich" for some reason.
What I like about vecna and how this season is, is that it doesn’t matter who you are and what status you got in life we all have demons in our past in life from Chrissy a popular cheerleader to a nerd like Fred

I hate Angela as much as the next person but I thought the mean girl acting was ON POINT. Like usually the mean girl thing is really cringey and unrealistic but I thought she sold it 100% felt like a real bully. I don’t really know much about the actress but I hope she does well she had a smaller part but I thought she killed her performance

I am pretty sure Will likes Mike. Back in season 3, it was clear that Will is not interested in girls because during the scene when Will had a fight with Mike, Mike told him: "it's not my fault you don't like girls". And at the very beginning of season 4, Will was painting, El thought that it was for a girl and that he fell in love because, as she says, he has been acting weird lately. Eventually Will brought that painting to a meeting with Mike to the airport, but when he saw that Mike is not interested in communicating with him, he got very upset and squeezed the painting. As far as I know, this information was confirmed by the actors who play Will and Mike, as well as the directors The Duffer Brothers..)
It seems like they’re going to make Mike gay now too because he can’t even say he loves El anymore. Gotta fill them quotas it seems.
Also, his hero presentation was about famous british computer scientist Alan Turing, who was gay and actually died because of it
@@nandoman4769 I don't think so. Even before the release of season 4, the Duffer brothers said that Mike's personality will change a lot in the new season, but they didn’t say why. Maybe it's because of the distance, long-distance relationships are very difficult, so it seems to me that he still loves her but something is wrong because he’s been quite cold to her. And I don’t think that they would get rid of such a beloved couple as Mike and El, cuz this is already like a canon. Plus there has never been any hint that Mike likes boys, I don’t think he understands what’s going on at all. Therefore, I am more inclined to believe that Will still confesses his feelings to Mike (or Mike finds out about it from someone else), but Mike will not be able to reciprocate Will so most likely in season 5 Will will find his love in someone else. And I also have a feeling that something will happen to Will at the end of Season 4, idk why, I hope I am wrong...

The place that Lucas and the basketball team were partying at was the abandon Benny’s burger restaurant, the same place that eleven went in the first season to hide, and she got food from Benny, and he was shot by the bad people and his restaurant became abandoned

I can’t get over all the ‘80’s references and Easter eggs in every episode. This show is a wonderful merge of great writing, amazing visuals, superb acting, and meticulous attention to subtle detail. N&S, hold on to your seats and get ready for some great surprises, and a few mind flips as the season goes on.
The way Nikki was looking at Steven while he was talking before starting the show is adorable. Sooo much love there ❤️ made my heart so happy
One thing I've noticed no one (most reactors or entertainment articles) has really acknowledged, El (Jane) has only been out of that lab for what 2 maybe 3 years tops and she has been kind of secluded and sheltered for hers and others safety. Before that, she was kept from a baby in a science lab testing telekenetic powers. She is a child who has been through a lifetime of trauma and was then placed in this stressful High School setting, in a new state, with other teenagers, with very little actual social skills, only one friend who she was only kind of friends with, almost no actual education probably and only knew that violence is how things are dealt with. I mean, if she had her powers, she actively would have killed that girl most likely. That said, this season is at the very least a very close second only to the first season, maybe better. I can't wait until Pt 2 comes out.
it's been ~2.5 years since El got out of the lab!! season 1 was November 1983 and now in season 4 it's April 1986

This is by far the best season so far. It really feels much more mature and true horror than the previous ones. Love the Freddy Kreuger vibes from Veca.
Imo the horror is great in this one but the overall season (plot, character development) sucked

I also think that when it comes to Lucas and the whole "getting in with the popular crowd", there is a big difference between being a bullied white nerd and being a bullied black nerd. *Especially* in that time period. The secret clubhouse (party spot) where the jocks were holdup in was the burger shop that El found herself at when first escaping the laboratory. The guy was immediately killed after calling (thinking he was helping her).

So glad y’all are having the same response I was. I wasn’t sure how they could expand on this and make it new and awesome, they definitely have killed it. I feel like I have gotten so much more involved with the characters. The cinematography is also freaking gorgeous.
I'm so glad the teacher finally said something. I was bullied, even worse than El, in highschool because I was gay. When the students would disrupt the class to make fun of me, I was the one who got detention. If I got beat up or pushed around, I ended up suspended. I was eventually expelled for refusing to go to a gay-straight conversion center. So that teacher earned a gold star from me. Good job

This season has been so scary. I actually had to close my eyes during the bone breaking, eye popping up deaths. I also LOVE how they introduced the mass hysteria surrounding devil worshipping that really happened during the '80's .
THIS EPISODE DESTROYED ME IN SO MANY WAYS. It hurts because no one remembered it was Wills birthday.

The $40,000 is money that Hop had put in a trust for Eleven to receive when she’s older. I can’t fully remember but I wouldn’t be surprised if it came from Sam to help Hopper be able to raise her.
My daughter just turned 6 months old and I already have plans for as soon as she gets old enough to put her in some kind of kick boxing or mma self defense classes. I briefly went through bullying back in middle school, my daughter will not. Plus I want her to know self defense.
I agree with y'all usually if people are bullies and mean to people there's a reason why its probably because they have a crappy home life and have to take it out on someone else but Angela definitely deserved it. everyone has a breaking point and you can only push them so far before they snap but then you are shocked and wonder why they did it 🙄🤦♂️
Some bullies come from a rough life out some are just spoiled and have not empathy. Angela could very well be a spoiled rich kid who was never told no and whose parents also treat people like dirt. It happens.

I didn't go to that high school but had some friends went to it. I went to highland. I've been to that skating rink quite a few times too. When i heard they were filming here i kept driving by that high school hoping to see some of the filming and the skating rink. I did get to see argyles van outside the rink one day. So probably just missed the filming 😔

The clock actually chimes in season 3 when Billy is in the upsidedown and got possessed by the mind flayer but it's more faint so you don't notice it plus no one knows what that mean yet at the time but it's to let you know that Vecna is behind the mind flayer
At 19:00, did anyone else notice when Robin was searching for Rick on the video store computer, one of the Ricks was Rick Sanchez (from Rick and Morty)?
So I just watch the whole series in the past 4 days, and I kept saying Hopper looks like a Russian. Not that they have a specific look, but if I was told to picture a Russian, someone that resembles him would come to mind. It didn’t click until I looked at his acting credits. He played the dad in Black Widow! It all makes sense now.
It looks like Stranger Things will follow the often true trend that Season 4 of a show is usually the best one.
The Satan panics were a very real thing in the 80s. I turned 10 in 1980 so I was there. A lot of youngers seem to think it was just a wonderful time, but while there were many great movies and such, there were many very dark things as well.
Duffer brothers work each season are increasing in perfection their talented writing it's true masterpiece, and shame on all people who critics or underestimate this show.
the time stamps in the camera when they filmed eleven is 22nd march. in stranger things S2 when Will kind of get 'possessed' by the mindflyer and all of them try to get him back by telling him stories and memories, we learn that 22nd march is Will's birthday
after all of the things that happened to Will, no one remembers his birthday. he deserves better

D&D is fun when you're a kid but then becomes less fun as you grow older. Then it does a 180 and becomes a blast when all your friends become 21+ years old.

Also, poor Will's crushing on Mike and Mike is completely clueless, so Will is having to watch El and Mike have what he can't. So what the solution? Him confessing his love for the guy his adopted sister has been dating for years is bad. No one can help who you have a crush on but what you do after matters. He should just distance himself from them to get over Mike and find someone else.

It's funny that you say that about supporting your local skating rink. Because that skating rink is here in Albuquerque, NM. They filmed here last summer. And Netflix renovated that place for the show. The California shots are her in Albuquerque. Imagine a Breaking Bad and Stranger Things being in the same universe 😂

Playing D&D can be a great way to make friends. It is super fun! As for El/Jane and the skate incident, I was disappointed in Mike's reaction. As a romantic partner, his first reaction should be to ask if El is ok. Knowing what she just went through, especially, asking if she is ok would have been much better. Of course, Steven, you are right on with saying this had been happening for a while. It seems like since Will got back from the upsidedown, he has not really been a part of the group.

Watching everyone be so happy to see El and Mike reunite. To only have that fun look of "Ohhh noooo" when Mike and Will go to hug. But hey Mike's main showings of masculinity in life are Hopper and Ted, that's an odd view to grow up with if we're being honest lol

I started to watch one episode a week, because i wanted to keep with your guys reactions, but i got enthralled and ended up binging the whole season in a day. oopth, but still following your reactions and im so excited to see them. Love and hugs to fan dam.
I am tired of people putting limits on what happens to bullies. "Oh maybe you shouldn't go that far." No, bullies are the bottom of the crap on the shoe. When something goes wrong at the school when one of the victims of bullying mentally breaks down, we label THEM the monsters and never investigate and find out who broke them and point a finger at those who bullied people into these acts. Bullies deserve no sympathy.
