may be very late but this is super helpful for people who do not know what to do with BIOS Files, quick and easy, straight to the point and fresh. you're the best! this helped me play Tekken 5.

hey do you know why my bios files are in dvd format they have disc icons next to them instead of the paper i see on everyguide about this, im struggling big time even trying to follow guides

Oh that looks helpful, im struggling with my ps1 cores. Every time i try to download any on retroarch, the console symbol doesnt show up unlike the snes/n64 logos. Would this be because i need to follow the steps above?

Extremely late here. But when you download the bios files. I’ve downloaded the Saturn bios files (all regions). But they all come in a folder. Can I just drag that folder over, or do they all need to go in separately? So laid out like your bios files. Not all sat there in a folder?
need help. Dreamcast. I loaded the dc.boot.bin and flash into the system folder. it seems to play some but not others. I downloaded the fycast standalone and it runs all of them... Thank you!
Question- this applies to the retroarch that's installed in my modded ps1 classic?
I'm not sure, I don't own a PS1 classic so I also have no way to test this
please help me the 7zip and winrar will not extract or open the bin file instead it turns it too a winrar image instead of th way yors looks

How can i add BIOS files to /System if my Retroarch is on a Sony Android TV? I have the files on a USB stick plugged in to the telly, but how do i transfer them to RetroArch?
Alright figured thi one out. Get X-Plore on your Android TV and you can drag and drop (or copy and paste) any files from USB to any app or folder in your TV.... I love technology. Fuckin' Boom!
i cant get into files of retro arch on windows 11. when i search in system and find the file it just opens the application.

I'm not sure, it means your probably looking in the wrong place if you only see the .exe
Do you know if it's legal to download the bios files online?
I think downloading is fine, but sharing is not. It's kind of the same area as games, so it's difficulty to say, but always a risk
Hi for some reason can't find my files on retro arch, the drive is connected but the files in it don't appear in retro arch...if you guys know what can I do it would be very helpful...
make sure you go into the properties of the files that youre trying to find in retroarch. for example I couldnt find the roms that I have on my desktop in Retroarch but when I checked properties I saw they were in buried 5 folders deep in something like: Users>Admin>Onedrive>Emulators>Dreamcast>ROMS>Houseofthedead2 etc.,

Yes, you can put the dolphin files in this folder as well, you can read the docs to see the exact structure
Are the bios files normally located within the "system" folder in retroarch?
Yes, that's the default location, you'll need to add all your bios files there :)
@@Scoby ok perfect. So like you say get the relevant ones, ps1, ps2 etc and drag them into the system folder in preparation of creating cue files etc?
@@Sam-tw2sr yes, you'll need to find what name and structure the bios you want to use requires, that's on the doc page of liberto.
It's overwhelming at first, but after the first few it gets easier :)
@@Scoby yea well ive inly just got into retroarch so im still getting to grips! Ive no problem getting snes/n64, but then i found out about needing bios for ps1+above! Your video is really helpful. Do you need a bio for each core, ie beetle/ReARmed etc, or will 1 bio do?

Hi, I'm not sure if you're responding still but I just downloaded the Retro Arch BIOS Pack to add to my Steam Deck. It contained a bunch of folders and some of them have zip files in there. Do I need to unzip these and remove the BIOS files from those folders and drag it directly into the system folder?

Yes, you need to put just the bios file, if you put a zip file, retroarch will be not capable of reading it

Hm, so you can see it on your installed apps in your windows app list? Or?

I cannot, for the life of me get the bios file to unzip. None of the regular apps work to open the file and I constantly get the error that the .bin isn’t a recognized format. I’m using 5501.bin if that helps. It’s just another US bios. It should unzip, but my Mac refuses to open it with all of the regular unzipping clients.
What file type are you trying to unzip?
Where do i put the mame bios
All bios files should be placed in the folder I show here, some may be slightly different, but refer to the liberto docs for your selected bios/console
My Bios Ps1 File isn’t working,
So basically I’ve put the Scph5501.bin in the system folder But it isn’t working when i try running the game, it keeps saying ‘firmware is missing: scph5501.bin so I’m a lil stumped and need help
i'm having the same issue but seeing you wrote scph5501.bin as Scph5501.bin with a capital S might be the cause of your issue make sure your file name isn't capitalized or has any spaces or dashes

Hi I'm doong this on android and it's not working I did everything you did and when I open retroarch it just shows she's the same thing it would normally but when I open a game it doesn't show the message saying there's no bio

Anyone please help me‼️‼️.....I am using retroarch in my android tv....i have installed and played 4 games and its working fine. can just add all bios in one folder..
For some cores yes, others require a specific folder setup

It's always tricky some people like them fast others not, I make videos I would like and this speed is typically how I want it.
