    Don't forget the vita version of retroarch also lets you use the thouchscreen and backtouch for 4 extra buttons. They can be useful for extra commands. I personally use it for for fast forward and rewind. Also retroarch is useful for PS1 emulation as well for games like Brave Fencer Mushashi that doesn't work in adrenaline.

    So, my kids and I have declared this summer is the summer of Pokemon. They picked up a game guide at a local book sale for Pokemon Fire Red (possibly mom's biggest regret ever), and none of us had ever played it. They each have their own twilight CFW DS Lite that we picked up on our trip to Japan before PCSing to Virginia, and for the money (Wattman prices), they were totally worth it. And for Pokemon Fire Red, again, perfect for my 5-7 yr olds, indestructible, easy to operate, and indestructible.
    But for me, I had been using the Miyoo Mini Plus, which was pretty good. Not a lot to complain about, and the ability to essentially play one-handed was a bonus. But my old man eyes kind of wanted something a bit bigger and bit better visually. So I dug out my Vita 1000 OLED and this guide was just the ticket. I used the updated Henkaku guide and now, I have a dedicated Pokemon device. I did switch to the gpSP core, and moved my save files to the new folders, but then.... all was spot on. Now I just have to catch up to where they are... about two cities/trainer badges ahead of me. ;p ...Cheers!

    USEFUL TIP: I had an issue where RetroArch wouldn't recognize certain NES and SNES games, so it wouldn't add them to the playlist. This has to do with the way RetroArch checks for good roms or whatever, but as it turns out, that doesn't mean it can't run the games. It only doesn't add them to the playlist, but you can still run them manually.
    To do this, you just load the game rom manually from the first button of the menu. Navigate to the folder you put them on and voilá. Yeah, you will have to do this every time you want to play the game, but at least you can play it!

    • @HelenoPaiva

      @@HelenoPaiva I couldn't figure out a way, I guess you could try downloading different rooms for the same game and see if one of them works. One thing I would recommend is getting a "overclock" plugin even for RetroArch as for one thing it makes the higher accuracy SNES9x 2010 core run at nearly full speed in a lot of titles plus some of the newer Homebrew ports either straight up need an OC to reach full speed or it helps prevent frame rate drops and helps with general smoothness. It's also handy for some native titles as well like the Jak and Daxter collection that can have frame rate issues.

    I found that using the L key as the hotkey was causing an issue in game where I needed to hold the L key (it was a GBA title). It would accepted the input and you would see movement on the character, but it wouldn't hold the action that was needed. I ended up having to change the hotkey, and once that was changed everything worked correctly in game. Great Video!

However on gba games like Metroid zero mission it ran perfect and looked amazing! Thanks again!

    I still remember when I saw your video regarding the Vita as a great Sony machine, and I remember writing that there were additional ways to make retroarch cores run better, and I'm very happy for you, you got to go farther than other vita enthusiasts on RUclips and can't wait to see you cover the minefield that is N64 on the vita.It's not perfect but, uh, at least SM64 looks really nice on it. Also there's the mod for overclocking the vita during game sessions and at hight to max performance for me some N64 games run a bit better, and starfox for SNES runs better, it's not a constant 60 fps, and dips hard, but the stuttering is way less than normal, so if you haven't played with that, that is an interesting mod to experiment certain games with. Cheers!

      ? Cores are in the data zip that accompanies the RetroArch vpk.... it gets updated with each new RetroArch version.... No brainer.
      No 2: Use a fucking search engine for bioses man..... Bioses are copyrighted & not readily available. Just put your effort into searching instead of begging/baiting.

    I like to switch between Retroarch on Vita and Wii. I do this because the Wii can output a 240p 15KHz signal that looks beautiful on a CRT or through an upscaler like the RetroTINK 5X. Make sure the Vitas SDcard is formatted to FAT32 and point the Retroarch savefile directory to the SDCard. When switching to the Wii, turn off the Vita, extract the SDcard, and insert it to the USB port on the Wii. Run Retroarch on the Wii and continue your progress where you left off. When done, insert the SDcard back to the Vita and continue playing portably.

    No offense or anything, love your channel, but this video perfectly demonstrates why I both sort of respect but mostly hate retroarch. Jack of all trades, master of none. UI is a unintuitive headache for me to navigate, making setup for each emulator a chore. Always get errors for some silly reason because you didn't setup something perfectly. Works great IF you set it up correctly but getting there is such a huge pain in the ass.

    • @RetroGameCorps
      @RetroGameCorps  3 года назад +16

      Yep, totally agree with you Rob. The app has been in dire need of a real UI overhaul for many years now. They're in a weird spot where they set up the interface imperfectly, but they're so deep down the rabbit hole that they may not ever recover. It took me nine months of tinkering with the interface on various systems to get to the level of knowledge I have today, and I'm by no means a pro. At that point it's not the fault of the user, but of the system.

    This is piss poor tutorial. Seems like your cutting steps and not exactly showing everything. video is all distorted and the instructions are not exactly clear. Where did you even manage to get the games files or what are the extensions of the game files?

    • @davidalvarado9957
      @davidalvarado9957 8 месяцев назад +1

      After watching the video the tutorial was basically perfect. Everything is explained clearly and done step by step. Any video distortion is on your side but the video runs perfectly on my end. Some settings in retroarch have been moved around a bit since this video released but all it takes is a little effort on your part to READ and they aren't too hard to find.
      You either source the games and bios files from your own personal copies OR do what most of us probably did and use good old Google to find a site that hosts them. The written guide on his site explains exactly what file extension you need and any specific naming conventions for them you need to follow.
      It's illegal to distribute roms so he's obviously not going to link to exactly where you get them. That should have been extremely obvious. I personally use Vimms Lair.

I didn't move over any BIOS files.. but after I scanned my NES games over, they played seemingly just fine. Does the version from VitaDB of Retroarch already have the BIOS?? Because my system folder is empty, and doesn't show any BIOS. if anyone knows why it's working, please let me know!
