  • This 1934 Ford sedan was purchased by my Father in 1966. He installed a rebuilt 1934 flathead engine in the late 60s/early 70s and had the car roadworthy in about 1975. The car then sat for years. We started it up in 1990, ran it around the yard with no brakes, then parked it again for another 30 years. This video is literally the first time trying to start the engine in 30 years. In preparation we had the distributor and coil rebuilt, installed new plug wires, lubricated the cylinders and changed the oil. No fuel priming or carburetor choking was performed.

    Never had a doubt !
Knew it was going to run without question !
Great job on all of the replacement items, and most importantly,
getting some lubrication to the cylinders before you cranked up !

Hello I am working on starting my 34 Ford but I am constantly running into no spark no start. We have rebuilt the distributor but have not done spark plugs or wires. Any suggestions?

I had my distributor rebuilt by someone with a distributor machine that could properly set up the points. I also had the original coil rebuilt and installed new 'correct' plug wires. Once everything was installed, I confirmed voltage at the distributor. I hope this helps.
