*If you're curious, here was my first tutorial on making a planted betta tank. Do you think I've improved in the past 3 years? 😉 **ruclips.net/video/JMQCJpD58O0/видео.html*
Great info! Embarrassing confession: I have had a beta for 2 years in a 1 gallon tank and just found out that is bad! I’m building my first community beta tank and hope to venture into live plants, too. Wish me luck!
How is it going? I have a female betta in a 10 gallon. I added 5 tetras and she killed all of them overnight. All bettas are different...I have a male living with 5 mollies and he thinks he’s one of them 🙏
@@mandypdx really well! My beta is so chill! We got a 10 gal, added live plants and tetras, then introduced him and all is well. The snails that snuck in are another story altogether though lol
I wish you great luck! Species tanks (i.e. tanks with one species of aquatic pet) are fun! I love my yellow tiger koi roundtail plakat female Thundra (named after a Marvel character), long-finned veiltail super red dwarf female Val (named after Valentine's day for her bright red coloration), half-blind super red crowntail male Captain Redbeard (you can probably guess why he has that name), and my odd wild-type, eight-finned super delta Banana! All of them live in their own 15 gallon tanks heavily-planted like a jungle! Live plants are the creme de la creme, the best-of-the-best! They absorb ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, heavy metals, and provide beautiful cover for your pet! Most aquatic creatures "require" them to stay healthy and stress-free (well, maybe not "required" but it certainly is best and preferred). Low-maintenance plants I recommend for beginners are hygrophila polysperma, egeria aka elodea/anacharis/water weed, duckweed, frogbit, dwarf water lettuce, valisneria/val, java ferns, aponogeton aka 'bulb plant', and anubias. If you want riparium/paludarium plants try chinese evergreen, pothos, philodendron, purple waffle, wandering jew, common ivy, fittonia, aluminum plant, ferns, or any plant labeled as 'tropical', 'keep soil moist', etc. How about aquaponics? You can grow tomatoes, sweet potato, basil, strawberries, and many more! The aquarium hobby is vast, fascinating, expensive, and time-consuming but as long as you get it right eventually (it doesn't even have to be the first time), you should succeed. Just remember to cycle your tank, keep a filter with biological filtration, substrate for the plant roots as well as beneficial bacterial, use a heater set at 76-82°F, feed quality foods high in protein, low in fiber, and with a large amount of insects, feed a variety of foods including frozen or live, especially daphnia which is great for digestion (avoid too much freeze-dried foods and frozen bloodworms as these cause digestive issues), and perform frequent 25% water changes once a week or every other week with plenty of live plants. Sorry for the long comment but I hope this helps! If you need more info, feel free to private message (PM) me @justafishservant on Fishlore! Good luck, my fish-loving friend ;)

@@richie5930 I did a daily 30-50% water change and had bacteria bio orbs (not sure if those effected anything but I used 2x the amount needed) in the filter compartment and double dosed searched prime each water change. I did this before I had fish but had introduced some water column feeding plants since the start to help! The liquid that comes in the bag with the eco complete is basically liquid fertilizer, you can dump a lot of it out (but would be taking a lot of the nutrients with it) but as porous as the substrate is will still have some left behind for the roots of plants, definitely not an expert but this helped me to get it ready with such an amount of initial ammonia!

I'm intrigued to be a fish lover. Do you suggest 5 or a 10 gallon for one beta?? I wanna dip my toes in, and my research tells me a bets may be the right choice.
You have way to much gravel in the tank, I get your trying to have enough room for your roots but you don’t need that much, taking up way to much room. Otherwise great setup.
Firstly, it's aqua soil. Secondly, it's a tank for one single betta fish. And even if there was an excess amount of substrate , why would that be a bad thing?
Curious, why didn't you spray/roller paint the background? This is one of those issues that I see is not addressed very often on Aquarium Co-Op. Scotch tape will wear out quick, and even quicker with the least little bit of moisture. You could buy a can of Krylon and a roll of painter's tape for about the same, and it'd last until you scraped it off.

Curious question-the floating plants-I have some in my tank, but recently they've been blackening and then rotting away. They were thriving when I was adding the Aquarium-Co-Op easy fertilizer liquid, but I stopped as they were getting out of control at one point. I was wondering if maybe my light was too bright? But I haven't changed lights so it's weird that they were growing out of control to now rotting away. I’m new to the hobby and wanted to know how long I’m suppose to let it sit and filter for before I get my beta fish? I realized you let it sit in an already exsisting tank but I don’t have that so how long would I let it run for?in a new tank
Amazing video! I learn so much every time I come to your channel! And also I have a question, what kind of water are you putting into your aquarium is it Ro water?
Nah, it's regular tap water but I use this water jug instead of a bucket because I feel like I have more control over how fast the water spills out. :)
Debating if I should raise Betta fish again just hate the maintenance cos rn I'm raising dart frogs they are soo much easier less maintenance like them aquatic animals
I have an aggressive male betta as well! But he likes his mystery snail buddy! But doesn't like his next door neighbor which is another female betta! He flairs at her! So I blocked them off from each other! Thanks for your video it helps!
Wow your betta is so beautiful 😻 what’s his name? Sonic? I have five❤ a female betta sorority and a single male with a snail 🐌 they have a 20 and 10 gallon😊
Another great device for your heater is the Kill-a-Watt EZ multi-meter ~it can tell you if your heater is on and drawing proper current + about a million other things. You can even tell how much it's costing you per month.
I am guessing that Sonic doesn't like roommates. My Betta, Monet tried to kill the Nirite snail I got him for a roommate! I wound up putting the snail in his own tank because Monet continued bully the snail.
I have never had a good luck with Betta fish. No matter how much I improve they tend to get infections or diseases and pass away within 2years. That's why I am taking a step back and learning as much as possible.. probably in the next year I will create a ultimate Betta habitat!!
I’m setting up my 20gallon for the second time 🤩. The first time I had some male endlers and a betta, the betta had long fins that’s were extremely damaged when I got him because he jumped into another Bettas tank. He healed a bit but after about 1year and a half developed fin rot and he got very sick when my parents were looking after him while I was away. He died about 3weeks later, even though water quality was fine 💔. I’m getting a healthy koi betta shortfin male now, scraping my tank and looking forward to getting back into fish keeping
I have been binge watching your videos because even after having my betta for 1 year I still am learning. But I have been seeing other videos on how to take care of my betta and some use stability in their tanks i am not sure if that's something i should do?? Or is using prime conditioner all i need to add to the tank?
My 10 gallon aquarium came with the filter and heater plus the lid the filter cannot be adjusted in the flow rate is pretty fast blowing against some of my plants. Plus my heater was too tall as you said and it recommended that I use the suction cups and put it at a 45 degree angle I have planted some flowers back there I hope will fill in and push-up right now I have one guppy in there he was very territorial and ended up killing his tank mate three and a half gallon tank so instead of flushing him I just put him in that 10 gallon tank I had hoped to add my betta to it I have two new male guppies and an African small frog I guess I'll put them all in the 10-gallon and see if he gets along with them alright I also put a round mirror in the back corner and I think he thinks it's a fish tank mate thank you for your videos very helpful
You are so smart!!! And everything your suggesting and saying makes so much sense! Thank you this really helped me! Any suggesting plants? I’ve never touched a live plant!
First of all great tank second of all way to have awesome board games. I didn't think kids still played this I do I think they're great I find any games I can when I teach English I'm not real into computer games and all that stuff I think because it would be too easy for me to like so I got into aquascaping I needed something to do but sadly I can't keep anything alive even if I have aquarium soil the water's too warm in Taiwan and another thing is the air conditioner is not running constantly during summer time the only thing that seems to live well is a Nubia now if we could just get 10 more different kinds of anubias. We basically have one kind occasionally we get a couple types glued on to some Driftwood but I think you have to like order that kind of stuff specialty and I don't mind buying it and putting it in the tank I like Driftwood but it's a little bit expensive like I'd rather just pay for the plant and wedge it in between some hardscape
I live in Cali and it is summertime here,. My room specifically becomes very humid cause their is no ventilation and my betta water temperature is usually 81-82 degree during the day, night 80 degree and on a cold night probably 78. Should I still use a heater even though I have the recommended temperature?

I put aqua soil in my tank and when I added water it turned black, why is that? And how can I prevent this?
Debating if I should raise Betta fish again just hate the maintenance cos rn I'm raising dart frogs they are soo much easier less maintenance like them aquatic animals
I bought a rimless tank and now worries to even put water in it.. scared it will leak or break after seeing so many comments on rimless tanks
Where do you purchase bottled bacteria? My nearest Petsmart does not sell bottled
☺️ I'm starting my first planted and beta tank. On time. 😊
Betta got serious concussion there😂😂
The sunlight is good for the water, the fish, and the plants….?
if i m not using planted plants what is a substrate that you recommend ..
Sonic, great name! (great tank too!)
I don't get it. If that's a brand new Tank, why quarantine?
He's a cute betta
Can’t wait for part 2! How are your apistogrammas going?
Can someone please help me how many watts they would recommend for a 10 gallon tank. Pleasee
probably about 50 watts for a heater.
Why isn't it ideal to have the heater horizontal?
It depends on the heater. Most heaters will specify what angle to place them at. This is my experience at least
Can you put a snail with a betta fish in a 5 gallon tank?
How to seed a filter if there is not another tank in the house or should we just us it new?
Tank looks great! Really like you choice of substrate and fertilizer method (root tabs) rather than soil.
Is he still alive? sry for my englisch
Plug it in .... hang it in aquarium.... your done
I got the same tank as you. Do you need mat under the tank? 😮
So what if I don't have a well established tank?
Lol did u forget to acclimate Sonic..?
is it okay that I have fake plants and a betta fish?
I had a dream where my betta fish barked at me.
Love tank so much!!! Looks great yet still affordable!
My bettas were livin in there 1 gallon temporary tank and *THAY ABOUT TO GET SPOILED* (I got them 5 gallons lol)
So can I use dragon stone in my betta tank
hi i to have same coloration betta like sonic
Wow, idk if i need a betta😂 this is alot
Another great device for your heater is the Kill-a-Watt EZ multi-meter ~it can tell you if your heater is on and drawing proper current + about a million other things. You can even tell how much it's costing you per month.
I am guessing that Sonic doesn't like roommates. My Betta, Monet tried to kill the Nirite snail I got him for a roommate! I wound up putting the snail in his own tank because Monet continued bully the snail.
I have a red betta fish named Loios
I have never had a good luck with Betta fish. No matter how much I improve they tend to get infections or diseases and pass away within 2years. That's why I am taking a step back and learning as much as possible.. probably in the next year I will create a ultimate Betta habitat!!
My Betta’s name is Sonic too🥲
Cool, but how do you make a fish tank if you don't have any aquariums nearby? I Don't have another aquarium to use for the filter.
QUESTION; how do you detect when snails die so they don’t foul the tank?
Poisoned! Oh noooo! Cliffhangars are usually awesome but this one sounds terrible.
Hey! I'm planning to get a Betta fish but i just want to know one thing. Can a Betta fish live alone or does it need a partner?
Helpful again to this new fish 🐠 momma 🥰💦 👏🏻👍🏻thanks !
You are so smart!!! And everything your suggesting and saying makes so much sense! Thank you this really helped me! Any suggesting plants? I’ve never touched a live plant!
First of all great tank second of all way to have awesome board games. I didn't think kids still played this I do I think they're great I find any games I can when I teach English
I'm not real into computer games and all that stuff I think because it would be too easy for me to like so I got into aquascaping
I needed something to do but sadly I can't keep anything alive even if I have aquarium soil the water's too warm in Taiwan and another thing is the air conditioner is not running constantly during summer time the only thing that seems to live well is a Nubia now if we could just get 10 more different kinds of anubias.
I have the exact same betta..,❤️
My betta tank is growing green algae on the stone and shells kept in the tank..
Can I get some help there?
