Amazing to see that you know all the different parts. I wish I had this knowledge, so that I could service my i3. Keep up the good work! And thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this video... Do you know a place where I can get my BMW i3 EME part checked? The dealer is trying to charge me $17k for a replacement and I need URGENTLY an alternative.
No, I'm thinking of using simpBMS, I can then put it in the boot near the charge socket and main bulk of the batteries. Much easier than trying to hack the BMW system. I'm looking at using the KLE case for the inverter parts.
Can't you not just saw the original housing in 2? And weld the side up with plate? Much more compact then that isn't possible and it will fit perfectly like designed.
That is a possibility which someone else is trying so I'll keep an eye on their progress. My main concern would be my inability to aluminium weld and the coolant leaking 😬
@@MPDano I'm afraid I don't know enough about electronics to say however is it logical for companies to make every single part specific to the individual car?

Thank you, I am still learning and only just scratching the surface 😄
Very good to see this in the actual application. Surprised how tight the fit is 😯
Thanks Johannes, it is super tight but I thought better to be safe than sorry.

I'm afraid I don't however I'd have thought any electronic engineer should be able to fault find, good luck, I hope you get it sorted out 🤞
Hi, I have BMW 330e and the EME is faulty, can you repair EME ?
Hi, I'm afraid not personally but I'm sure a decent electronic repair place should be able to.
Is it repaired?
I like to know the cost’s…..
Is you plan to use the original bmw kle charger?

Hi! I have EME for repair! Do you do?
No, sorry, I can't be trusted with my own 😂
Already I repaired! Thank you!

Where is this EME located in the i3?
It sits on top of the motor, in the rear of the car. It can be accessed via a hatch in the boot.
@@MiniLifeCrisis Thanks for that. I'm assuming the hatch you are talking about is the hatch that you would remove to do the oil change, correct?
@@MPDano that’s the one 👍
@@MiniLifeCrisis cool, would a used one have to be reprogrammed to the i3?

If the Eme needs to be replaced in your car then you looking at a sum of around 15.000£…
I believe more and more places will soon be able to repair these complex parts for a fraction of the price.
