what happened to the previous 2? And why went Rex again, when on the most recent ones the batteries are much larger, sop no need for expensive and polluting engines that require maintenance?
Hoping this is going to save my 2015. It can't maintain enough power to move anymore when the Rex starts at 6%. I totally lose power. Been stranded multiple times. It mostly happens in the winter but has happened in warmer weather. And I'm cognizant of turning everything off and dropping to below 70mph. Finally learned to use emissions mode if I stall but who wants to sit on the side of the road for 20 minutes in sub zero temps with the heat off? BMW told me to sell it but I'm underwater on the loan now. By a lot. So sure hope this works.
As you were..actually I did stumble onto the menu. Following your instructions, it seemed to work but then the REX stopped working. Display said: Function not available, state of charge is higher than 75%. However my actual battery is at 50%. Any suggestions?
@@NoGasNiko Let me also add, BimmerTech will try again today to re-code my REX. They were successful last year but now I have updated s/w and yesterdays session with them did not work. After waiting about 20minutes I took a drive at 50%charge and turned on the REX only to see it shutoff one minute later. Display said REX would only work if charge was less than 75%….again I was at 50%. I’ll keep you posted.
@@NoGasNiko On what years is that an option? I’m looking for a car for my daughter. I’ve found some great 2014-2016 i3s! I just want to make sure I can do both coding hacks.
Have you found a way to automatically have the rex come on when the battery gets down to a certain %? I swore I found someone that was able to do it but I cannot find the video anymore 😢
@@NoGasNiko the battery doesn't last long enough for my daily commute and the tank doesn't hold enough gas either I have to fill up multiple times a day to commute. there are times I would rather use up the gas to charge up and refill instead of looking for a place to charge which is almost always unavailable.
Wow such a helpful video!! Getting a 2014 i3 Rex this weekend
Congrats!
It's crippling and horrifying when it happens.... This is my 3 rd I rex. Looking forward to this upgrade. 🎉...

The REx was an awesome price and really low miles. Only had 16,900 miles on a 2018.

It will work. If you have troubles, you can shoot me an email at Nogasniko@outlook.com.
So the BimmerCode App must be purchased?
It appears to be $69 for the app otherwise it will not flash the i3 computer.
Is this correct?
Yes, you need to purchase the full version for it to work. It's a one-time purchase. It will also work with other BMW models.

That's a new one for me. I'll have to look at the coding to see if you can select values for the REx.

do you need to code instrument cluster and active increasing limited fuel capacity too?
That is not necessary for 2018 and newer.
Great video! Is it still possible to unlock the rest of the fuel tank volume?
Yes, depending on model year.

@dwaynesievers1397 pretty sure 2016 and older can hack the fuel limiter. 2017 and newer are already unlocked.
@@NoGasNiko Thank you! You’ve been very helpful. I appreciate it.
@dwaynesievers1397 any time.

I have not but that's on my list of things to investigate. Personally I'd like it to be around 20%. Where do you think would be a good set point?
Is emissions mode the only way to fully charge the battery with rex?
I'm not sure I'd want to fully charge the battery with the REx. Very inefficient.

Do you use this car for work? How many miles do you drive per dat?
