    This is a fascinating film. People who worked with Karajan, as performers and studio personnel, have so many interesting stories about him. He was in the first generation of conductors to have new recording technology available. Instead of saying, "I am a musician - all these controls and machines are nothing I want to deal with," Karajan wanted to know everything. EVERYTHING! He began in the age of the 78rpm and lived to record digitally on compact disc.
    I particularly enjoyed the faces of his associates hearing his recorded voice after all these years and saying, "Yes. That is what Karajan was like," or, "Karajan's favourites were works written between 1810 and 1930."
    This is wonderful and detailed film about what Karajan was trying to accomplish as a musician, on the podium and in the studio.

    Was er dann am Anfang über die Verschlossenheit sagt, ist zum einen für den Beruf des Dirigenten ja ein ziemliches Paradox. Da darf man ja eigentlich nicht verschlossen sein.
    Zum anderen ist das aber auch so eine Mann/Frau Geschichte. Er erwähnt seine Töchter und übersieht, dass Mädchen in der Regel viel kommunikativer und aufgeschlossen gegenüber anderen Menschen als Jungen sind.

    • @franziskakre8309
      @franziskakre8309 7 лет назад +2

      Das muß kein Widerspruch sein. Karajan meinte damit eher, daß es ihm schwer fiel, privaten Kontakt zu anderen Menschen zu finden, mit Smalltalk, persönlichen Einladungen usw., das galt nicht für die Musik, da konnte er mit anderen Musikern "kommunizieren". Viele große Musiker, auch Dirigenten, gelten als verschlossen und introvertiert. Beethoven, Bach, Glenn Gould.. die konnten alle nicht so gut mit Menschen.
      Es gibt viele sehr verschlossene Mädchen und viele sehr extrovertierte und kommunikative Jungens.

    1:06 What? Has he never heard of Harnoncourt or Abbado or perhaps even Rattle? What a lame excuse. Karajan was especially arrogant. So much in fact that it sometimes lead to weird decisions like when he decided to play the Andante of Mozart 21st piano concerte even though he couldn't play it.
