    • @EtienneBerny
      @EtienneBerny 7 лет назад +2

      The original score shows a "Continuo" part, but doesn't explain in details how it should be composed. So it could be one or two (or more !) harpsichords, with or without organ/double bass/viola da gamba/bassoon/lute etc... You may hear the St Matthew Passion conduced by René Jacobs and AKAMUS, who uses the largest continuo ensemble (7 or 8 musicians) to follow Evangelist, Vox Christi, and the rest of the choir. Bach composed this for two organs only, and usually a harpsichord or a lute when he couldn't use the 2nd organ of St.Thomas church. It's certainly not an "historically informed" performance, but it's the best one I've never heard.

    I didn't like karajan's sound nor his Tempo, There is a recording by Abaddo which is much more beautiful I think.

    This is horrible, but Karajan is my idol.

    Excruciatingly boring. Karajan was good in the romantic and post-romantic repertoire and his unfortunately few forays into 20th century are also very good (especially his Schoenberg, Berg and Webern) but works from the classical era and especially from the baroque era with him conducting are unlistenable. Sorry.
