Awesome thanks! A lot of work goes into pastry production, I admire anyway who bakes from scratch. The satisfaction of eating a homemade pie on a cold day would be worth it! :)
I've just finished watching The Brokenwood Mysteries: A Merry Bloody Christmas (like 5 times in the last week - it's a hoot) and the meat and cheese pie played a prominent roll - which was the "King of Pies"? Mince and cheese or steak and cheese? I'm going to try this.
I should have listened to my instincts and cut on the cumin. 1 tbsp is just too strong and overwhelming, I tried rescuing by immediately adding grated ginger to the mix but it didn't work. Another similar recipe uses no cumin at all
So a Kiwi asks a Pom if he can make an Aussie pie for Australia day so the man makes an iconic New Zealand pie and calls it Australian....and it didn't even have a smidgeon Vegemite in it.
@@bremCZ they definitely do have mince. It looks like you haven't had a nz bakery mince pie. I myself have recently managed to bake a pie tasting like a nz bakery pie with real mince
@@loopy7057 aw sorry for the late reply bro. I reckon marmite would give it the missing savory taste. Its been a month now. Have you tried it with marmite?😀
I first read the channel name as "Tifa Saurus," and that made me think of Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy :In a coquettishly wholesome to the brink of saccharine scenario where she's baking hearty meat pies with a smile on her face and an apron that says "The Secret Ingredient is Love." Right after our daily 4 p.m dick flattening, of course...
after seeing how much work and love goes into making a pie it really makes me appreciate them even more

Thank you for this! Going to try to impress a cute kiwi I know with this recipe.. plus aged cheddar!
I loved mince pies when I was in nz last year! Can’t wait to make them here in the Netherlands, so thanks for the recipe!
Was it successful ?
@@harrycurrie9664 Probably still eating. 😁
@@patz470 Yeah, can't talk with the mouth full. 😜
@@harrycurrie9664 Its not polite no. 😂

Great work guys,,, love how you make it so easy to follow!
Oh man, here's an idea to make during winter. Great work and sub'd.

I use mixed herbs, a little Marmite, and pepper. Try it.
I'm hungry now..

Does foil stick metal oven tray why you're using baking paper in between. YYUUUPP
Good tutorial/video but the music makes me want to die
I highly doubt the legendary NZ mince and cheese pies have parsley and cumin in them. Nice try though...
Exactly my thoughts. I've tried so many home pie recipes, but nothing tastes as good as the ones I get at the bakeries.
@@shonteyer me too! I am up to my 6th attempt and about to add Marmite into the mix.

Why roll out the butter when you are just adding it to the flour? The only reason to do this is if you are making a puff pastry or croissants.

I am a non-conformist. Always prefered steak and cheese.
didn't blind bake it for long enough.... i can't stand raw pastry
Cumin ? Wtf
Look at the size of those onions, fucking gross.
