In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.

Never a more beautiful vista than from your campsite. Only lack was a tortoise. Having a cabin in a relatively short hop ferry is amazing, but seeing all the trucks, it makes sense. Might be the only rest they get as they supply the nation. Bird ID?

The reason for the emergency procedures in German, Russian and Polish is because that ship came from the Baltic Sea. Most NZ tourists come from China and Australia

You can get a cheap pair of ratchet tie downs for $15 from The Warehouse or Bunnings , which all you need for the ferries.

Add cheese and butter to those potatoes mmmm. For ease boil milk, butter veg and add smash (dehydrated potatoes) a student meal I cooked regularly and still cook it now for the memories
So just for some clarification, have you been travelling continuously for years or do you take breaks and go back home then continue at later stages?

It's good that the French Pass road was open when you were there. On my last South Island ride the road to French Pass was closed all day except for a 1hr period. Luckily I arrived 5 minutes before the road opened and managed to get there and back. Awesome road.

I was surprised to how big the ferry boat was.
That’s the smallest of the Cook Strait ferries. And she slept through the best part of the journey - sailing through the Marlborough Sounds. One of the most picturesque sea voyages on earth
Hi Kinga are you coming back again to the north island again in the near future i live in Taranaki and we have some great roads up here if you do come back up north get in touch and we will take you on a tour of our back yard ...ps we have a mountain in our back yard too 😊
