Juan Rodriguez I had an Olds Cutlass ciera s for my first car, those older A body cars like this, that and the Pontiac 6000 and Chevy celebrity really are some of the toughest unibody cars. mine got totaled due to the fiberglass nose cracking, but it was out of production in 2004, not because of any real damage, it was really convenient though because I was trying to see it and couldn't. So sure, with a lift, some 31s and a welded diff they could probably do it, just try to find one with one of the larger engine options and pack a lot of fuel, they are kind of pigs in that department.

The thing is, there have been lots of VTEC cars on the show but they don't all hit that magical spot on the tachometer. If you get on, you'd better hit VTEC at least twice.

I can definitely tell when these are pre recorded or not by looking at Danger Dan's beard.
They are all pre-recorded, technically.
None of them go out live, so yes, they're all recordings.
I think what DigBic (lol) is on about is that there's a gap between recording and release. Nothing wrong with it, you're not a big budget studio, you don't need continuity checks for Dan's facial hair.
My guess would be the gap is usually for editing, but some things in a single episode might stretch over multiple days or weeks in real time as well. I'm thinking that the trip to Canada to visit Rob, or the Baja trip are good examples. Content from that 48 hours in Mexico is split over three or four videos, each released two or three days apart.
