    I'm scratching my head at some of these suggestions on the number of plants...I make beautiful/trailing arrangements with 4 supertunia vista series in 3ft long flower boxes. They fill it completely, and by end of summer are 36in's long

    Your pots are obviously gorgeous and successful, but can you have successful 14 inch pots with 3 plants ? I did a lot of reading and that was recommended in a lot of places , but yours are double 🤔. I want them full but don’t need them huge if that makes sense. But maybe I should add more. Some are vistas and others just supertunias.

      If it has some depth to it probably every foot or so. Super petunias get big so they will need a lot of good soil.

    Great info! I just purchased the 4.5" pot supertunia vistas for my window boxes... but an curious how to utilize it in the Planters, because of the size of the planter. ( dimensions in inches-20 x 6 x 5).
    Is this too shallow?
    Could I/Should I only use one 4.5" supertunia in the middle? Do I need to cut back the root, and if so will this hurt the plant?
    Any suggestions are welcomed!
    Thanks

    • @SharkeysFloralGreenhouses
      @SharkeysFloralGreenhouses  Год назад +2

      You may be able to get by with two super petunias, but they are vigorous so they need some soil volume. You don't need to do anything to the roots as long as you are using good soil (see our videos on soil.)

      Probably would be better to start the seeds in small containers and then transplant into the baskets. Petunia seeds would be started around Christmas time.

    • @SharkeysFloralGreenhouses
      @SharkeysFloralGreenhouses  Год назад

      The super petunias from Proven Winners are very vigorous. We do like Easy Wave petunias too which are more compact and turn out very nicely, but not as much vigor as the super petunias.

    How can you tell the mounding petunias? Most labels don't say at the plant shops.

    • @SharkeysFloralGreenhouses
      @SharkeysFloralGreenhouses  Год назад

      You can usually see if there is a mention on the tag of "mounding" or "trailing" or "semi-trailing" but yes, not all tags have the needed info.

    • @danih7577
      @danih7577 Год назад +1

      Most of what I buy either says wave Or nothing at all. If it doesn’t say wave then 99% of the time it’s mounding or lightly trailing (for flower beds) and usually (not always) a little less $ if your purchasing cells.
      If it’s a wave petunia they always want to advertise the tm.

    • @jajatime9724
      @jajatime9724 Год назад +1

      @Dani H thank you so much. I bought some Mambo Burgandy in cells so I'm hoping it won't trail that much since I put it in a low pot on my porch.

      @@jajatime9724 gorgeous let me know how they do! They’re a dwarf and very tolerant of everything and won’t get leggy either. I’d like to try them in my flower bed next year from seed and a few for pots ❤️
      Please let me know how their vibrant booms stand up to July heat. Don’t forget to fertilize as soon as they’re potted. My goal is hundreds of blooms this year, opposed to crispies and long legs 🤞

    I strongly disagree. This is way too many supertunias in a basket! These are monster plants and 1 supertunia will cover a 10” pot nicely.
    7 to 9 in a 14” is Rediculous! The supertunias get to be 2 to 3 feet in circumference. Why do you need so many?

      You can disagree, we've been doing this for thousands of hanging baskets a year and they turn out incredible.
