    I stopped using Aero Ultralights after I got two in a row with out of spec clamshells. They would rotate the scope body as you tightened the screws, and the tighter they got the harder it would be to counter the rotation without slipping completely out of place and simultaneously staying level. Took twenty minutes of fussing and adjusting and readjusting just to get one set correctly. Every time I thought I was finally level I would put the final torque on the screws and find the scope had shifted two or three degrees. I gave up once I realized the second one was the same way. Never looked back.

    Oh hey, I currently have one of these holding my RT-6 onto my AR. My only concern with it is the steel base screws into the aluminium threads, but the torque specs are well within what should be fine, and I haven't stripped any or had them come loose in the couple of times I've removed and re-attached the mount.

    • @CDOES
      @CDOES  Год назад +2

      The majority of mounts are steel into aluminum. Its only when you get into more expensive mounts that are either made of 7075, or have stainless threadserts in that you dont have to worry at all about it.

    I have a bunch of these, one in particular (high profile 30mm with 50mm offset) i had a utg 4-16 scope in it on an ar, that scope is ok, not the best by any means but it tracks decent and holds zero, but anyway i had the rifle slung across my back, and i slipped on ice walking down the driveway. Fell straight onto the front top of the scope. The scope did end up bending but not enough to notice until shooting it, that scope may still be ok but i replaced it and reused the same mount. Mount is completely fine and this is my personal #1 recommendation for an ar scope mount. These things are solid and you can sometimes even find em for about 25 bucks new, the most ive paid for one is 35 and i have like 6 or 7 of em. Never had any issues with zero using these mounts. I want to try out their qd version as well. Also their little 50 dollar rheostat red dot is surprisingly good, it holds zero and doesnt blink like the vortex strikefire 2, the utg pistol red dot however does have that flash, the screws came loose (the factory installed top ones) and it had water spots for like a month after submerging it. It does however still work just fine, the water spots are now gone, and it has held zero since tightening those but i cant recommend that one. Overall their optics and mounts are solid with a few outliers, also i love my utg t1 riser and it looks cool to boot. Also theyre like 20 bucks and are solid.
    Edit: spelling

    I wonder if UTG makes a "Red Dot RDS" piggyback top ring for this. Main reason I'm a fan of these is no knuckle-hazard. Most economical mounts will rip your fingers on special/non-AR platforms.

    Thanks Brother. Another nice review of something I’ve been eyeing lately. I just finished a dedicated .22lr upper and I think this would be a perfect mount for it.
    I only see one issue but it’s irrelevant for my above use. UTG make a piggyback RMR ring cap for this it’s really tall. Theirs is high enough for an MPVO with a large elevation turret but way too high for most LPVO turrets.
    But yeah, this looks like a great option for a budget, .22, or beginner gun. UTG gets some hate but I’ve never had a bad experience with the few things I’ve had from them.

    I have been waiting for over a year to see this review. Looks like there is a lot of bang for the buck. I have two of their smaller risers that use thumb screws and I have been impressed with the manufacturing quality. With that said, they over spec their torque settings. I have the UTG OVER BORE BIPOD and the Torx screws stripped when I attempted to remove the bipod.

    Took you long enough to review these. Between their "medium" and "low" and a half inch riser, you can experiment with multiple scope heights for less than 200 dollars, like 1.79 height. Meanwhile people were paying up to 300 dollars for a single 1.70 badger mount.
    Wish they still sold their fde versions.
