I received my scope this Saturday, I am amazed by its clarity and focal range for a 1-6x24. Great addition to my scope collection. Thanks again for bumping me off the fence and for your reviews!
They're the exact same scope. Made in the exact same factory, on the exact same assembly line, of the exact same components with minor cosmetic differences and of course, their own proprietary reticle of which PAs ACSS is FAR superior. The scopes are the same tho. You can literally swap parts, turret caps and turrets etc.
Wow great video. Biggest thing I got from this was how the 1-6x SFP is better than the 1-8x SFP @ 25:30. On paper you’d think the 1-8x would be better but you did a great job explaining and showing us why the 1-6x is actually superior. Keep up the great work, you’re my #1 go to for optic reviews. Please stay true and don’t turn into a sellout shill :) hope 2023 is a great year for you and your channel continues to grow!
Appreciate this review on the gen 2 with arbdc3 reticle as most reviews cover the earlier versions and then these were quickly overshadowed by the 1-8's and other pricier optics. This is the only thorough review on this latest iteration of the Vortex S.E.

I'm in the market for a LPVO but don't have a ton of cash to spend so yeah budget is what I need, and as most folk I want to get the best I can for the least amount of $$ I really like this VORTEX and probably what I'm gonna buy eventually, thanks for the video and side by side is great
When it finally broke Vortex replaced my 12 year old first gen SPARC with a far superior current model. So, having purchased a Gen 2 Strike Eagle 1-8x this past summer, I just hope it doesn't break until Gen 4,5,6 or what ever latest and greatest model is available to replace it. Season's Greetings!
So thanks to your comparison of the 1-6x and 1-8x I returned my gen 2 1-8x opmod strike eagle for the 1-6x gen 2- OPMOD fde strike eagle. It looks way more consistent between short to long ranges, and having to be on full magnification to have your drops line up and that 8x just fell apart past 6x is why I returned the 1-8x and I got the gen 2 in FDE for 220$ saved 46$ over the 1-8x,it was 266$, thanks c does for the great comparisons
I wouldn't pay more than $140 for this... because that's how much I know you got it for. :D Mad props to PSA for honoring their deal. They deserve more business as a result. This review should help them do that.
PSA gets mad quantities from Vortex and sells lots of the lower positioned stuff. I got a Sonora (cheap Vortex 4-12 x 40) for a 17HMR with cantilever mount for $149. You’ll see just the mount for $90 -$100. PSA sells a ton, It’s economy of scale.
@@JsoFLY503 I'd like to think PSA just pulled off a massive "guerilla marketing" campaign with this. Hey @c_does suggestion for you sir, when you go to make that sig tango and strike eagle side by side video you should consider adding the RT-6 to that lineup! would be nice to see a direct comparison of those 3!
Sometimes you get something great for lil money. I love my Strice Eagle 2, 1-6 but several years ago, money was real tight so I bought a 1-6 True-Glow for $150 with a mount. That sucker has held up great. I never thought it’d be still hanging around but for the gun it’s on, no reason to swap it. Just saying, because something is inexpensive doesn’t mean it’s trash. Sometimes you get that one in a million.
Love your reviews, brother. Have you looked at the new Venom 1-6? I wonder how it compares, especially to this scope and SLX Nova. Also, that CZ Royal looks great! How do you like it?
Gen 2 is definitely better than Gen 1 (I had both) but there’s just something about looking through Vortex product, and Primary Arms, that just doesn’t work for me. I liked that big, bright sight picture I got from Nikon scopes from the cheap Buckmaster through the Black Force line (and Leupold VX2) so, of course, they’ve been discontinued. My luck.

Love the gen 2 1-6. You can get these $150-200 all day and it’s an amazing value. It’s a forever optic being that it’s from Vortex. Theres not much that touches them for the price.
I am really torn between this strike eagle and the sig msr. Unfortunately i have no place local to get my hands on them to compare. Im a fan of both reticles. Any advice on which way to go?
Great review as always. I prefer Primary Arms over the Vortex for the incredible ACSS reticle, myself but the strike eagle appears to bring it. I have to disagree about cloudy overcast days being the most challenging for a scope to provide a good image in though. In my experience early am and late pm when the sun is low on the horizon, casting streaks of light and ambient scattering simultaneously is the absolute worst. In particular if the sun is in your face. Ive found few scopes are capable of mitigating these conditions and of the ones that have, theyre very expensive and even then can only do so much. Comparatively, overcast days seem fairly benign and while they do bring their own unique problems i find most decent scopes are able to still provide a good, useable image. A very Merry Christmas to you and that playful Kitty. Would love to see a comparison of using a Mid price MPVO vs LPVO for an AR 5.56/.223 rifle. What are the advantages of each over the other? Loving the videos and learning a ton!
So, interestingly. I purchased this strike eagle 1-6x for the same price when PSA messed up. I ended up selling it to a friend and getting a Sig Tango MSR instead that I much prefer.
Heads up for those that either don't care about color or want a fde LPVO... OP has their "opmod" strike eagles with bdc3 reticle really cheap. The 1-6 is $249 and the 1-8 is $299. I just picked up a 1-8. Was going to get the 1-6 for $250, but the 1-8 for only $50 more got me. I love my regular strike eagle 1-8 with bdc3. I got it before they went up another $100. I think I gave $399, with the same mount that came with the one in the video, before covid. Now they're $499 in a retail setting for the 1-8 without the mount. I think $249 and $299 is a steal for these lpvo's. And with the holiday codes I got another 11% off. So I really got the 1-8 for about $266. Not quite the steal that this guy got from PA, but a steal nonetheless.
Ya bro just got the same opmod for 266$ wondering if I made a mistake getting the 1-8x instead of the 1-6x well can always return it for the 1-6x if the 8x is not usable on the scope like he said in the video
@@runninggames771 I believe so. I think the bdc3 reticle is gen 2. Double check me on that though. I'm not 10000% certain. I can tell you that the glass looks fantastic for a $300 1-8. I'd easily buy another. And I'd easily pay $250 if I wanted a 1-6. I really think they're the best you can get got anywhere near this price.
@@runninggames771 I assume they're selling them cheap for a couple of reasons. OP invested in an order specific them with the fde coating and "opmod" laser etched on the optics. They most likely got a screaming deal for buying so many. Well, they probably didn't sell as well as they'd like and they've taken up space in the warehouse longer than they'd like and they need they space for things that will sell. So they probably marked them down to just above cost to try to move them quick. There's nothing wrong with them, if that's what you're insinuating? They couldn't sell them as new if they knew they were fucked up in any way. Sometimes you just catch things at an amazing deal. These retailers actual cost for most of this stuff is between 50-75% of retail. Closer to the lower end of that I'd they're big enough to buy in large quantities. So when you see something for half of retail b it doesn't really mean anything except that the retailer is willing to sell it at cost just to get it out of inventory. Someone that wouldn't pay 80% of retail might pay 50% of retail because that's too good of a deal. Might not need it at the moment, but you can't pass on a deal that good. And that sales strategy does work. I'm sure they're selling a lot of them.
The Gen 2 is SO much better than the gen 1, Vortex deserves mad props for that.
It's almost as if they listened to what the consumers wanted or something. So bizzare.
Come on HOP you know you still hate it.

Is the opmod a gen2 ?
@@runninggames771 I believe so. I think the bdc3 reticle is gen 2. Double check me on that though. I'm not 10000% certain. I can tell you that the glass looks fantastic for a $300 1-8. I'd easily buy another. And I'd easily pay $250 if I wanted a 1-6. I really think they're the best you can get got anywhere near this price.
@@IDK_what_TO_call_IT_ i wonder how they compare to the rt6.
Why are they selling them almost 200 below retail? That just doesn’t make sense
