This is like a steadicam for your phone. It keeps all your shots smooth and level, even while you are walking. Do not use on fast rides like roller coasters. Also note that this can convert to a selfie stick, but selfie sticks are not allowed in Disney Parks. This item is allowed because it is primarily a gimbal but you are not allowed to extend it.

Would you happen to know what happens if, for example, I pay for Rise of the Resistance for the full family and then one of the kids decides they don’t like the ride, would I be able to use their purchased ride on another member of my party to ride again? Seems like a waste of money if a party member backs out of wanting to ride at the last minute.
I’m also not clear how child swap works with purchased lightening lanes. Can the parent still take another guest on with them, if that guest has already paid and ridden the ride with another member of the party?

Hello! If someone in your group decides they do not want to ride and you’d like for someone else to ride instead, just have that person use their Magic Band or park ticket card to tap in at the entrance. You have paid for the LL so anyone can use it. They will not check ID or anything.
As for Rider Swap, I do not know for certain how that works on Individual Attraction LL’s like Rise. I will make a note to find out for you next time I am in Hollywood Studios. Thanks for watching!

I’d love to know your thoughts on the alternative approach to Genie+ and stacking rides throughout the day while you relax at the hotel and then attend the park in the evening to smash through all reservations close together without needing to play the slots while in the park. On our trip we got to ride Remy, Frozen, and Guardians one morning; 7 Dwarfs and Peter Pan another; and Rise of the Resistance (which was lucky because it was temp closed most of the rest of the day), Smugglers Run twice, and M&M Railway! Your advice worked so perfectly! Our Epcot day we were the second family at the gate! It really made our vacation and we were singing your praises every day. Thank you so so much!!

Just wanted to say congrats. I stumbled on one of your videos for the first time yesterday, looked at your history, and found that you've been doing this for less than a year. The first few videos only have a few hundred views, then just over a thousand, and then you hit it big with the Genie+ tutorial. Now, business is booming! You're a friendly guy, who seems very genuine, and so your videos have lots of appeal. I've subscribed, as I have now been to WDW 3 times since 2019, with a fourth trip scheduled this Christmas...and I am a meticulous planner. My husband and I love your genie+ videos! We have been to Disney 2x since genie+ came out and were very disappointed and frustrated with it. I have commented on this video already but I wanted to thank you for the tip on the Frozen ever after show. I was going back to Hollywood Studios with my 23 year old son. We had not been to the show thinking it would not be in our wheelhouse. After seeing your video I told him we had to give it a try and we both LOVED it. So much fun. I have mentioned on earlier videos how much I appreciate and love your videos. I wanted to add with this one I love that you show how the day can still be awesome if you are flexible. You had ride go down, monsoon, less than ideal return time. And you still had an incredible day and were able to do almost everything (Indiana Jones). I know it may be disappointing to get on one of those out door rides and it rains but one of my best experiences was Big Thunder in the rain! It made it so much more exciting. Do let the rain get in your way
Great advice. It’s always fun to experience something you love in a new way. And I do love water rides, so it might have been amazing. 😂 It’s actually rare to get to ride those rides in the rain because they usually get shut down pretty quickly. Been waiting for this one so thank you! I feel a lot better about Genie+ in this park now. In my case I think I’ll buy ROTR because I only get to go to Disney every 5 years or so, so to me it is worth it to guarantee I get that one. I don’t want to take any chances lol. Also it’s nice to see you invoke the 2hr rule on your day to see how that pans out. I was worried all the LLs would be gone around 1pm or something so this eases my mind a bit.

Just wanted to know, if I make a Genie+ reservation early in the morning, is it possible to buy ROTR even before riding the Genie + one?
@@noams1000 You can’t get a genie+ reservation for ROTR. It is only the ILL (pay to ride) or the standby lane so the only way to ride it twice is to stand in line AND purchase the Individual Lighting Lane.

I havent been to WDW since 2006/07 so there are sooooo many new things and as we are coming from the UK we really only get one shot at most things. Your clear instructions have taken a lot of anxiety out of me getting to grips with Genie! I have been following some other bloggers but the way you use screen shots and step by step is so helpful for someone like me that doesnt know what all of the screens will look like until I'm actually there and have bought it. @@Meeshwell hi! I did do all the LLs and we got to see the Frozen and Indiana jones show. We went July 13th it wasn’t the biggest crowd but it wasn’t empty. We were also staying at a resort so we took advantage of the early entry. 😊

@@Meeshwell you can do it!! Just keep on playing the genie slots and you’ll do so well! As soon as we scanned our magic bands I was refreshing and got so lucky everytime. Didn’t play more than 6 minutes and mainly played only a minute. It worked out very nice for the other parks as well! Also don’t be afraid of the 2 hour rule- 2 hours would fly by fast when I used it in other parks and we did so much in those 2 hours. 😊

Had a very smooth trip and hit all our “must-do” attractions. To top it off, I met you in the line outside Hollywood Studios!! 😁 Made my day!! ⭐️ We got rained on multiple times, ROTR went down for 4 hours, but we eventually got to ride…WORTH IT!! Reporting back on how I did. I’m currently eating pizza at 2:15 after having done rockin, tower, rise, micky and Minnie runaway rail, slinky, toy story mania, and smugglers . Also did red carpet meet, and met sully.
Hit big on Genie roulette while on red carpet meet. I can post how I managed that when we leave park if you’d like. Thanks so much for the tips. I shouted you out at least 5 times today.

@@EarScouts I need help with one thing...I watched your video on how to book and cancel a Lightning Lane for some in the party that don't want to go. My question is...Can you do the same thing with a pay per ride like Guardians Of The Galaxy? Do you get a refund or credit on the purchase or is it different than Genie Plus and you''re just out of luck? Thanks!
I have never tried, but it is my understanding that you cannot cancel an Individual Attraction Lightning Lane for a refund. The only way to get a refund is if the ride goes down during your window and you are unable to ride due to the timing of when it reopens or because it doesn’t reopen at all. If it never reopens, the refund should be automatic, but if it reopens later and you choose not to go (because of conflicting plans, for example) you would have to go to Guest Relations and request the refund.

Thank you for your videos. I used your tips on using Disney Genie Plus while on vacation at the end of June. The tips helped me so much. It made using Disney Plus so easy. I rode all the rides I wanted to and did not have to run from one side of the park to the other side of the park all day.

This was a very informative video!
The way me and my bf did our day at Hollywood Studios was:
Rope dropped Slinky Dog Dash
Bought Rise of the Resistance
Reserved Tower of Tower first but it broke down so we got a bonus lightning lane which we used on rockin roller coaster
2nd lightning lane: Mickey and Minnie’s at 12
3rd lightning lane: Toy Story Mania at about 3ish
Then since we had time we single rode rock n roller coaster again then we reserved smugglers run at 7:55
After two hours passed and we had lunch and, we reserved a lightning lane for Star Tours! Then after that we reserved alien swirling saucers!
We walked on tower of terror as we just stood around for it to open before our return time for rise and we were the first ones on!
We also went and met sulley before going on rise
The only bad luck that we had is that smugglers run went down as we were in line and about 5 minutes from the show room. Normally we stay when this happens but fantastic was back and wanted to get a good seat so we left. We still managed to get all the lightning lanes and get on all the other big rides! We were able to shop, eat lunch at sci fi, and meet three characters. All while topping off our day with the biggest show!
Wow - that sounds like a great DHS day! You were so lucky to catch Tower without a wait. It’s been crazy lately. How long did you have to wait for it to re-open?
@@EarScouts maybe about 25 minutes? We had time before our Rise lightning lane so we honestly had some time to kill. It was a walk on for us once it opened :)

Another excellent video! Interesting strategy that was different than what I was expecting. I was really surprised you were able to get a return time for Mickey’s that was so soon! Is that typical? Thanks! I would say that we actually had a harder time in this video than we normally do getting return times that were close to when we booked them. It is usually a little easier, but the park was very crowded and I think a lot of people were using Genie Plus. We noticed that all of our Lightning Lane lines were a bit longer than usual. I would expect that most days you can snag a return time for Mickey & Minnie that is an hour or less away by playing the Genie Slots. It depends on crowd level, though and you’ll get a feel as the day goes on. If you have a lot of early luck, it might be worth playing the slots longer for even better return times. If you feel like you aren’t getting anything good even after playing for 10-15 minutes, you might need to grab whatever halfway decent time you can get. I feel like this video shows it on a day that is about as hard as it usually gets. Christmas or July 4 would probably be worse (for example), but not by much.

I am heading to WDW in November with friends and acting as "cruise director" so to speak :) so I am doing all the research and collecting all the tips so we can make the most of our time at the parks! My son and I LOVE watching your videos and I can't wait to get there! We'll be off-site the first half of the week and then on-property for two more park days, so will definitely take advantage of Early Morning Hours those two days. Otherwise, we plan to play the Disney Genie slots and try to follow your suggestions for a magical visit!!!

You had some really great information. We went to Studios earlier in the year when it was a holiday weekend 😩. Being foreigners we didn't realize that , the particular weekend was a high traffic weekend. It was absolutely insane. I was prepared for crowds, but NOT what was there. I wasn't able to snag more than one Genie+ ride which was for Millenium Falcon. NO matter how much I would try, I couldn't snag any other ones. I also was not able to purchase an individual LL for Rise - even though I was up before 7am and logged in to make our purchases. I know for future reference now after watching wait times and seeing Genie+ availability. when I would plan to go again. The day we were there (and it was the only day we could fit in a Disney day) it was mind blowing how busy it was. We had fun and enjoyed the rides we did, and made the best of waiting in a few lines. But ugh...the wait times for all the top tier rides were close to 3 hrs or more for all of them. It was crazy.
I hope we can do a return trip again, and use some of your strategies. Great video.

What are your thoughts on trying to rope drop rise of the resistance with early entry and book your first Lightning Lane for after that for one of the other big rides? Rise of the resistance is definitely my husband‘s top must do ride but a two hour wait with two little ones is 😅 intimidating to say the least lol
Hi Paige! Sorry for the delay. We have been moving this past week and life has been a little crazy. 🤪 I definitely recommend rope dropping Rise. We made a video all about early entry at Hollywood Studios and we showed the two most popular options - Slinky vs Rise. In your case, I’d say book Slinky as your first LL and go do Rise at early entry. Just be sure you are there really early. You can see more details in that video I mentioned. Good luck! 🍀

I bought individual LL for Rise and rope drop Slink Dog. That was a good choice because Rise was down 3 times (including early entry) and I booked it for the afternoon and it was ok.

Finishing everything at 8 has me worried because we intend on spending an hour and a half building a droid and lightsaber when we go. I do get early entry as a hotel guest though. thinking of rope dropping slinky and then hitting tower or rockn rollercoaster. i will be buying a lightning lane for rise probably. Your videos are so informative and content-rich without feeling hectic or stressful! I am visiting for the first time with my family later this month. I've heard a few things that make me nervous, since we are staying off site - 1. The individual attraction lightning lanes for Rise will be sold out before we even have access in the morning (all nabbed by resort guests), and 2. Non resort guests actually can't book their first lightning lanes until closer to park open time (well after 7). Do you have any insight on these? Thank you again for the great videos!! Hi Shauna - thanks so much for watching! I have good news and bad news. The good news is that everyone can book a Genie Plus Lightning Lane at 7am - no special hotel needed. The bad news is that this is not true for Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes like Rise of the Resistance. If the park is super busy, you might have trouble booking Rise, but most days there are still reservations available when the park opens (which is when you can book). Fingers crossed you won’t have any issues. You’ll have to let us know how it goes. 🤞

Hi Priscilla! Last time I checked, you could use Genie to meet Mickey and Minnie in Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom (MK was just Mickey when I was last there). Hollywood Studios didn’t offer a Lightning Lane for Mickey and Minnie, though you could use Genie Plus to meet other characters.
Another great video. I'm going to have to rethink a little bit about touring strategy. It seems you definitely need to prioritize the Genie+ attractions first. Just a suggestion, (sort of like you did in this one), could you do a video on strategizing if you don't want to have to zig zag back and forth across the parks? That would be helpful for those of us that are older or that have little kids that can't take the walking. Thanks again for another great installment. I need to rewatch them and get to planning out my tours.
Hi Mary Ann - thanks for watching and for this suggestion. Multiple people have asked for us to do a series about our “perfect day” in each of the parks. I think this might be how we will approach it. Less zigzagging and more of a leisurely pace, but still getting everything done.

Hi Nicole! Thanks so much for watching! Way back when we made this video, you actually couldn’t modify a Lightning Lane. Your only option was to cancel if you wanted to try to book something else. It was a LOT trickier back then. 😂 We are about to start remaking these park specific Genie videos to update them with the new features and latest changes.
Helped out a friend today using Genie+ at HS and unfortunately, they didn't hit all the attractions. But, it was a good run overall. Just missed out on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Toy Story Mania and Rise of the Resistance (it broke down within the last hour! Please listen to Rob when he says to do this ride earlier in the day! But they got Lightning Lanes to use the next day so it wasn't all bad) Great tips, love the added visuals on your videos and you have a way of explaining things so clearly. I may have missed this in your other videos but I didn't know that you could have more than 2 reservations at a time.
That’s a bummer! Were you having a hard time getting good return times? Thanks for letting us know how things went for you. And yes - you can stack as many reservations as you are able to book using the two hour rule.
@@EarScouts I think what really set us back was not being able to hit all the top tier rides early. Unfortunately, I was having issues with the app at 7 AM. Wasn't able to see what was available till 7.05ish. By that time reservations for Slinky was hovering around 5 PM. Played the slots for a couple minutes to nab a 3:50 PM time slot. In hindsight, that may not have been the wisest move but it was the #1 attraction for our group. After that, we kept having to utilize the 120 min rule. I think at some point we had 4 reservations at one time. All that to say that yes, it was challenging getting those good return times. If we had a do-over I think we should have prioritized booking an early morning time for our 1st LL (and also got on Rise much much earlier!). But they still had a good time so I hope this doesn't come across as complaining. Hoping this info can also help someone else plan their ideal Disney day!
@@aqua00rose No - this is all very helpful information. Thank you for sharing. It helps us a lot to hear what challenges people encounter so we can help other people be prepared for those challenges. We actually had a similar issue in this video where it was repeatedly difficult to get a ride without invoking the two hour rule and you really have to get at least a couple rides in under two hours to get it all done.

Another great video! We're doing Animal Kingdom in the morning and then hopping to HS in the late afternoon. I'm planning to just stack HS rides starting from 7am so we have about 4 lined up when we get there. Luckily we aren't planning to do ToT or Aerosmith so that will make it easier.

@@EarScouts we are back from our trip and this strategy worked out pretty well. The only problem is that Genie won't let you pick a later time for your LL, it's just first available (after 2pm if it's for the park you are hopping to). So, I actually booked Festival of the Lion King for our first LL because there were no late times at HS yet and this was the only thing we were planning to do at AK that might need a LL. Then, I got Slinky Dog, Millennium Falcon, MMRR, TSMM, and Alien SS stacked for the evening. Those were all the rides we wanted so it worked out great. But, I could have gotten them in a little better order if I could pick the times I wanted when I wanted a time later than Genie was showing me.
Yes - that is the biggest challenge with stacking. Usually the times get late relatively quickly for Slinky Dog, but lots of rides take forever to show return times late in the day. I really wish they would let you manually choose a later time. Thanks for letting us know how everything went!
Rob, you are the best teacher and WDW vloger/producer! Question, if you have genie+ and the special pass from the down ride of resistance, how do you keep the genie+ system from using the special pass until your ready for rise of resistance again? BTW..Loved your slinky dog ears!
Aww - thanks so much.😃 The way the system works is this: whenever you badge in at a ride, it will first use a standard Genie Plus Lightning Lane if one is available. If one is not available and there is a bonus LL, it will use that. So as long as you don’t try to badge in somewhere you don’t currently have a Lightning Lane reservation (and at the correct time) you should be fine. If it ever accidentally ate your Bonus LL, they would likely help you at Guest Relations, but that is not likely to happen if you badge in with a valid regular LL. Thanks for watching!

Thank you! I use the ones that have little tiny screws and they come with a mini allen wrench. You can buy them at the pin stores at Disney World, but I get them much cheaper through Amazon.

We definitely need to do some more park hopping challenges. If you have the park hopper add-on applied to your ticket (or you have an annual pass) you can just visit another park after 2pm and Genie will still work in your second park. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for these fantastic videos. They have really helped me understand how to use Genie+ in practice and the slots advice is great! I will be using all this on our trip next month. I do have 2 questions though:
- on your videos, you always seem to get your first LL for very early in the day and go from there. What do you do if you don't get an early return time for your first LL? Do you go and do any of the big ticket rides without a LL when you arrive at the park even if you're off-site?
- when spinning the slots, how do you know what a good return time for an attraction is?! I know you've got the experience to know it but I think I'll be sitting looking at the times thinking "is this good or not"?!
Hi Jessica! Sorry for the delay in responding. We were in Anaheim last week and we are finally getting caught up. 😅 These are great questions. If you book right at 7am on the dot, you will get a good return time. I have never gotten a return time that was not within the first 15 minutes of the park opening when booking right at 7am. If you are late to book the first ride, that can be a different story. I would suggest trying to get something within the first hour of park time if you are late booking the first ride. As far as what is a good return time - it really depends on the crowd level, the particulars of the attraction (for example - has it been down for a lot of the day, which would cause Lightning Lanes to get backed up a bit). The best way to know what a good return time is is to simply play the slots for a good 10 minutes or so. If you get a return time that is within the next 20 minutes or so and it is a popular ride, just grab it. It's not worth wasting more time playing the slots for an extra 5-10 minutes on your return time. I also suggest editing your selections and playing for two rides at once. That way, you can see what return times look like for both as you play and you'll have more luck snagging a good time on one of them. Typically, anything under 15 minutes is great and you should just grab it. 15 minutes to 30 minutes is also really good and I would only keep playing if it was a less popular ride. If it is busy and a very popular ride, 30 minutes to 60 minutes is okay and I might just settle for it, especially if I have other things I want to do like grab a snack or shop. Over 60 minutes is typically when I will keep playing the slots. Keep in mind, though - just like a real slot machine, you don't ALWAYS win. Unlike a real slot machine, you USUALLY win, but there is no guarantee so trust your gut. If you play for ten minutes and the time just keeps getting worse and never seems to get better, cut your losses and book it or try playing for something else. I'll usually play for something else and try again later and that usually ends up working out well for me. That is a really long answer, but hopefully it helps. 😂

Hello! We just did early entry twice to film our early entry video and we did Rise first on one day and Slinky first on the other. What’s cool about doing Rise first is that if you are toward the very front of the line (you’ll need to be at DHS really early - like 7:15 to 7:20) they will actually let you start the ride before early entry even begins. The downside is that the ride is often slow to start working for the day, so you might get stuck. It’s a bit of a gamble, but a fun one. If you do Rise first, I’d book Slinky as my first LL. If you do Slinky first, I’d book Tower of Terror as my first LL because it is still running at half capacity.

Hello! Mine fit tightly, but they also sell a black neoprene strap for your glasses at most locations that sell sunglasses in the parks. They are great for keeping your glasses on during thrill rides. Hope you have a great trip!
We are hopping from Epcot to HS on one of our park days in April. Our main focuses are slinky dog and tower of terror. Do you think we will be able to still grab a LL for them both? How early can you book Genie for your second park when hopping?
