- Today we are getting prepared for the winter riding season by completing a simple Pre-Season checklist on this 2020 Ski Doo Expedition Xtreme. We finally have a couple inches of snow on the ground which is a great time to get ready to ride. This is the list of things I like to do before each season.
1) Clean the belt
2) Clean the clutches
3) Clean the brake and surrounding area of all break dust and grime
4) Reinstall the belt with the proper deflection
5) Check the chain case, chain tension
6) Grease all the Zerk fittings on the machine
7) Do a complete visual inspection on the machine
Thank you for that very helpful video. Very well put together and it allow me to do my own maintenance for the winters to come.
No problem at all! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great video and side note... That’s a cool tattoo!!!
Thank you! I’m glad it helped. The tattoo is a dedication to the place I call home, Alaska.
WOW! I don't even own a snowmobile and I watched the entire video. Very informative! I have been interested in getting a Ski Doo I just can't decide which one.
Haha Well that just might have to be an up coming video. Where I explain the differences between each snowmobile and what they are best suited for.
@@BTHAlaska That's a great Idea! I'm glad I could help.
@@BTHAlaska he buddy, how do you find the Extreme in the deep snow, and on hills?
Was planning on doing a spring order, and wondering whether to get the expedition extreme or another summit.
@@adamada101 This is a tough one. What it will come down to is what do you plan on doing most? If you’re needing to side hill or if you’re going through technical terrain a bunch then I’d go with the summit. I took the extreme to the mountains 1 time and that was enough. Haha it did just fine we had about 18” of new snow got stuck once which was completely my fault but holly cow was I tired at the end of the day. In those cases the Extreme is just too heavy. If you’re planning on using it to ride trails, go ice fishing, pulling a trailer, and every now and then going through the technical terrain then I’d go with the extreme. It definitely capable and tons of fun for the exploration trips. Another sled that you might be interested in is the Backcountry XRS 154 with the 2” track. I just road that for the first time on Friday and that is a perfect 50/50 cross over maybe leaning a tiny bit to the mountain side of things now I wouldn’t recommend it if you wanted to tow. Hopefully that answered some of your question. Feel free to ask more if I didn’t I always like helping decide what the best sled is for a particular situation.
Thanks for the video! Super helpful.
Great video Trevor, will you do a video on how to change the sliders sometime? Thanks again
Thanks for watching! Yeah I could probably do that. What machine do you have?
@@BTHAlaska Good day, I'm driving the 2021 expedition le 900 turbo.
@@GoneDigital_ca Ok I’ll have see if I can get a sled and make the video for ya. It’s the same basic process as other sleds if you’re in need soon and don’t want to wait for my video.
@@BTHAlaska Just do one when ever, I'm sure you will have a good viewing audience. Thanks bud.
@@GoneDigital_ca Will do. Thanks again! Getting pretty excited for the season to kick off!
Please feel free to comment with any questions and I will respond as soon as I can.
Nice work on the video! I have the same snowmobile and love it. However, I have an issue with the rear articulation arms bending. I noticed you have solid arms out back where mine have holes. Did yours come like this? Or where did you buy the modified arms? Thanks.
@David Bielaski Thank you very much! There’s definitely a learning curve with RUclips so hopefully I get better with time.
Mine came like this. I got mine late in the season so I’m wondering if mid season they discovered that there was a problem and switched to a more solid construction. Sorry I’m not more help. I’ll talk to some of the reps I know and see if I can get a definite answer.
Beyond The Horizon Thanks for the quick reply. Could you please tell me what your sticker on the tunnel says for build date?
My dealer denied me a warranty claim, but now seeing this it appears brp changed the design on the fly during production because other 2020 models have the holes like mine but have seen other videos that have the solid articulation arm like yours. the parts breakdown shows the solid design as well. i put in a claim to brp about a week ago after my dealer said they couldnt do anything and suggested i try myself... waiting to hear back. i should get the warranty upgrade to the solid style like you have stock considering the same exact model.
@@davi555bielaski The build date on mine is 10/2019.
I agree if it’s something they changed mid production and you had an issue then they should warranty the arms. I hope you have better luck with BRP. I’ve heard certain dealers can be pretty hard to work with.
I messaged the Reps I know so I’ll let you know what I hear.
Beyond The Horizon Thank you! Much appreciated.
@David Bielaski I got a reply from two of the reps I know and I have a little bit of disappointing news.... They couldn’t confirm if Ski Doo switched to the solid arms however they did say that the manual shows the solid arms. Also they didn’t really have a good way to go about the warranty claim and said the dealership should have helped you in this situation.
Sorry for not really being able to help but I didn’t want to leave you hanging.
