Follow my journey as I build and test Ski Doo snowmobiles. Find new places to ride and test my abilities. I look forward to bringing you with on this RUclips journey.
Eureka Alaska
This is Eureka Alaska we had to stay low as avalanches danger was high but we all had a great time with over 4 feet of fresh snow. It was white out conditions so I took us a long time getting back to where we wanted. I took the 146 and that was a mistake I held the group back a little as I just couldn’t get where they were going. It was a great day with plenty of stucks! 😂

Do you know the part number for that white part that popped out? I broke mine. Hand is cold!
@@Kevinh557 Unfortunately I haven’t ever been able to find just that piece. I’ve had to order a whole new connector. Sorry I couldn’t be more help!
but is that an 800 or 850?
Hey sorry I missed this some how. It’s an 850.
How do you like the extreme
Hey sorry I don’t know how I missed your comment. I love the extreme. It’s got that snappy 2 stroke power but if I had the choice today I would pick up a Lynx Brutal RE a little better suspension setup, a 900 Ace Turbo, and a 2.5” lug track. It’s an incredible machine that will go almost anywhere.
Would that system work to hold a garmin gps?
Unfortunately it would not. The Garmin is too thick.
What are you on? Share some of that instead of this 😂
Will do. I got a couple sleds that I could spend some time talking about. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thank you! This helps!
@@Leo-xu7so Anytime! Sorry for the blurry video. Haha I figured it’d make sense. My buddy commented below and told me about another way to get the pins out.
If you push the pin up and then rotate it 180 degrees it’ll just pull out without using the screw driver.
@@jessejames9078 sweet! That makes sense I’ve just always used a screwdriver. 😂
@@BTHAlaska yeah I did to the first time then the second time I accidentally pushed them all out and figured it out lol
@@jessejames9078 that would be helpful if you didn’t have a tool. I appreciate the insight!
Hey man. Dumb question. What do I do when I get the plug? How do I remove / install the new wires into the same plug? Any input is great. Thanks.
From the front side of the plug you’ll see a white pin separator. Take a small jewelers flat head screw driver and gently pry the white divider out using one of the four slots on the edge. I say gently but it will take some force to pop it out. Then when that’s removed you’ll be able to use that flat head again to hold the pin locks down as you pull the wire out. Sometimes it’s a little easier if you push the wire in a little creating more room to get your flat head in. Then just reinsert, make sure your pins are all lined up correctly and slide the divider back on until it locks.
Hopefully that makes sense. If not I might be able to put a short video together tonight for ya.
@@BTHAlaska I was able to pull the white divider piece up. I can’t seem to figure out how to remove the wires still haha. Thank you for your quick reply!
@ I just uploaded a short video on how to do it. Hope this helps you!
I watched a few other videos today as I was trying to install this. Got so aggravated because NO ONE showed the actual wiring. I kept thinking, why would I put this dead end clip under a plate that I'm screwing in. Didn't make ANY sense ! Look at brp install instructions and it's the same thing. I had absolutely no idea the USB was a completely seperate set up. I bought the sport model so I thought, huh, didn't come with this (I didn't know) you got the USB plug and adapter as another kit. Dude your video is right on ! I so appreciate what you've explained. I'm 6min into the video and now I know why I was so irritated earlier ! I subscribed and liked........ THANK YOU !!
That’s awesome! I’m so glad you found the video helpful. Thank you for the Like and Sub! I NEED to get back in the garage and make some more videos. Is there anything you’d like to see?
How off center side to side is the axle after raising 1.5 ? Did you add a adjustable track bar
@@JR-ut1yx The axle stayed centered. I did have to adjust toe alignment and the drag link for the steering wheel to be centered again. Both adjustments were very minor and you could drive it without having to change anything.
Thanks for the video. I just installed this in my mach. However, I feel like it's not getting warm to the touch. Mind you I am running the sled and maintaining a 2500 RPM. I know the power supply is good because I've tested it at both ends. Does it get just slightly warm? Or does it actually get warm to the touch when you touch the element? Thank you.
@@MBZtwins Hey! Thanks for watching! The heater element should get warm to the touch. It’s really hard to tell if it’s actually working but it does get warm enough to keep your phone from getting too cold and dying faster than normal. Hope this helps!
@@BTHAlaska awesome. That's what I was looking for. Have a great holiday season.
@ Glad to help. You as well!
Is there noticeable heat coming from the heater mat? I don't think mine is working properly because it feels cold when I touch it while the machine is running.
@@RonRivet it doesn’t get hot but you should definitely feel the warmth from the heating element.
Just before you finished (at 8:53 ) you said you added an extra pigtail. What was that one for and did it come with the kit?
@@jessefunkfunk1865 Yes the pigtails come with the kit. It splits the power and ground so you can also run the USB charger accessory and the heating element. The plug I connected as I was installing the box was for the heating element for the phone case. Hope this helps!
Where is that dawg
This is up in the Clearwater Mountains when we stayed at the Alpine Creek Lodge.
? How does your phone charge?. I didn’t exactly understand that. Is there something that connects to your phone? Like how you usually Plug it in
Use the USB outlet and run a cable to your phone
What kind of plate do you have under the bumper?
It’s the Warn winch plate.
Under?. Splash guard or skid plate?
@@a.jr_moon Oh! That’s just the stock Rubicon skid plate. It’s to protect the electronic sway bar disconnect actuator.
Can't work with case on?
If it’s a thin case it can work.
What trail is this
I don’t know how I missed this but the trail doesn’t have a name but it’s on the Willow side of Hatchers Pass. They do an annual “Baldy Challenge” which is a race where they start on the Wasilla side of Bald Mountain and they go up and over to the Willow side. Then back up and over to where they started. It’s for fun mostly.
Can you tell me how bright the phone display is in the sun? I have a Samsung and have trouble seeing the display on brighter days.
The IPhone does very well in the daylight. I haven’t had any issues with seeing the screen at all.
nex time say what you liked about the sled first and then what you didnt like, got a bad first impression of the video kinda. but other than that great and honest review, (just trying to give a tip :) !
Thanks! I debated on doing that. Just thought ending the video on a good note would be more positive. I appreciate the input and take it as constructive criticism. Thank you!
Be safe guys! I love seeing these videos still but since Ken Blocks death they always just gimme a weird feeling now.
Safety has become a huge talk in the community since his passing. Our group always has eyes on each other when things get sketchy. The only real way to prevent disaster. Thanks for watching!
Are you a big flock of seagulls fan?
Huh? 🤔
Am I able to charge my phone with just the glove box extension or do I need to purchase the duel usb charger as well?
Unfortunately you have to purchase the USB charger as well. Thanks for reaching out!
Did u start at eureka lodge
Nah we all live in Palmer so we just day trip it, but we do park there and ride in.
Nelchina?
Yep! There was so much snow we decided to stay low out of Avy danger. It was gnarly!
Thanks headed that way tomorrow!
@@WyattShields-ug7do Nice! Enjoy! The snow got better as we got further back and we stayed on the right side of the valley.
@Wyattshields-ug7do how was is?
You guys got a shitload of snow up there I heard. Still waiting for snow in WA cascades
We did!!! Over the last week we had 40° temps and rain so we are back at square one for a bit unfortunately.
That was great duder, keep em comin!
Thank you for the support!!!! It’s been a long time since I uploaded a full video 😬 but I’ve got regular content coming this season. 🤘
Cantwell?
Between Cantwell and Petersville.
@@BTHAlaska sick pretty good vid 👍
@@PavelLitvinchuk THANKS! Not super entertaining but trying to get videos out should have some Vlog style videos coming in the future.
@@BTHAlaska sick, I'll be waiting
next time use a heat gun and warm up the haated grip and pull away in one piece
Thanks for the tip! I’ll try that next time.
NIce video ! Great shots!
Thank you! It was fun playing around with the art side of videography.
Is it working with otterbox case ?
I wouldn’t recommend it. It’ll push the front film out too much and it might cause it to tear.
It looks like you have a Gladiator Rubicon with LED lights. On Rugged Ridge’s web site there are places that state that the LED fog lights will not work. What was your experience?
The LEDs from the stock bumper definitely fit. You do have to pull the bracket off the stock bumper and mount it the the Rugged Ridge bumper but they fit perfectly.
Great vid bro, been debating on moving from my axys to a lynx. Rode a freeride and actually didn't mind it, never got to jump it, but I felt comfortable on it.
Thank You! I’ve ridden mostly Ski Doo but last season I got a Lynx in a 154 and a Gen 4 Expert Turbo 165 with the 34” front end. I ended up selling the Lynx to a buddy that had his Polaris blow up on him. If you put ski doo skis on the Lynx it’s an awesome sled rides as similar to a Polaris as you can get. The wide skis that come with the Lynx can become a little too much when side hilling over old tracks and become huge rudders when in deep fresh snow. Another buddy of mine came from a Polaris said “it feels like if Ski Doo and Polaris made a sled together”. Currently I’m riding a Ski Doo Gen 5 Expert turbo 154 and with the ridged skid it definitely holds a line much better than the sleds with T-motion and the power out of the new turbo is insane! I don’t have a ton of time riding Polaris but they seem to be narrowing the gap between each other. I really need to get back to making videos. It’s just super time consuming. Thanks for watching!!!!
Terrific, thank you.
Thank you for watching!!!
Very helpful instructions, thanks you. I just wasn't sure about what you meant about extending the plugs from down below - did you buy those cables separately?
Everything came with the glovebox except the usb outlet that was sold separately. All the harnesses are with the each kit. It’s a little over whelming at first but they make it pretty idiot proof. Haha As for extending the plugs your not really extending them your just using a harness that Y’s at one end to make it longer so your harness from the glove box can plug into the machine side. I hope this helps! If you have further questions feel free to comment I’m always willing to help. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!
@@BTHAlaska Thanks!
Can you give a link to the USB charger?
Hopefully this link works.

For what it costs it should come with the holes in it. Matter of fact. For the 20k I spent on the sled. Shouldn’t be an add on. Thank for the good information
Hahaha I totally agree these sled prices are insane! Thanks for watching!
Very good 👍
Thank you! Working hard this season too!
@@BTHAlaska very hard, Too much snow!
Dose anyone know the weight of this machine??
Sorry for the late response sometimes RUclips doesn’t send me notifications. I had a buddy weigh his 4100 so the 165 track (full fuel, full oil) and it came in at 562 pounds. Comparatively my ski doo summit x w/expert package came in at 570 pounds (full fuel, full oil). Hope this helps!
Can you fit gps units in there?
Unfortunately you can’t. The space is too thin. An IPhone 14 plus size is about as large as you can fit.
Good video good speeding up good music awesome i’m 64 and still learning
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully I’ll actually be able to get some more videos out this year.
Does Alaska have groomed trails ?
Yeah there are a ton of groomed trails. Are you looking at coming here? If so I could point you in the right direction.
Thank you for that very helpful video. Very well put together and it allow me to do my own maintenance for the winters to come.
No problem at all! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I already have a dual USB on my 2023 how would that change the install?
Sorry for the delayed response sometimes I don’t get notifications for comments. There’s an accessory plug for the USB on the wiring harness for the glovebox. It’s all plug and play. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Looks like you also had issues plugging the phone heating element inside the glove box in (8:18), any suggestions? I’ve tried multiple times now and feel like it should be this hard to snap together
Yeah I did have an issue. I wish I could be more help but I just messed with it until all of a sudden it went together nice and easy. It was a little frustrating and when I helped a buddy with his the plug went together without any issue. Sorry!
On the iPhone you can set it to wake on touching the screen so you don’t have to pull it out to tap the wake/sleep button. It’s in the Accessibility settings. 👍🏼
Thank you! I did end up discovering that feature on my phone. 🤦♂️ haha thank you for commenting and watching!
So epic
Does your xtreme have the stock low windsheild in this video?
Yes it does.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I keep daydreaming of the epic places I’ve been over the last year.
Do you ever hit lost lake? Epic riding there. Placer I heard is good too, but I've never been there.
@@jeremylocklear9118 Yeah we were in Lost Lake last Friday. It wasn’t too great only 4-6 inches of new snow but it’s building a great base. They’ve been getting some snow the last few days so it should be better now. Placer is awesome when it’s open the trail is sketchy getting in and out of there but once your up it’s fantastic! Where do you ride normally?
@@BTHAlaska yeah we were there Saturday, had to leave my sled overnight lol. Dang relay went out, didn't have an extra one. Recovered it Sunday. Hitting turny Saturday if you're up for a ride, I got like 4 or 5 people going
@@BTHAlaska i ride anywhere that the snow is good lol. I like turny cuz it's closer to anchorage but love lost also. Went to the Dutch hills a couple weeks ago, that was pretty dope.
@@jeremylocklear9118 I’m the same way I try and go where the snow is. Haha Turny looked good when we drove through on Friday probably should have just went there. I haven’t been to the Dutch hills this year we’ve been primarily going to Eureka toward the Nelchina glacier.
