*UPDATE:* Moving the accountDataDB file to my desktop allowed me to complete this week's quests, but it made me lose all the rewards from the previous login event. I didn't realize until a while after I released this video, I'm sorry I missed that. However, moving the backup of my accountDataDB file from when the UI broke back into the Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder (allowing it to overwrite the new one) after completing this week's quests brought back the login rewards while still keeping the Reaper's Rewards that I have! So if you run into the same situation as me, don't delete the accountDataDB. Just move it into a new folder somewhere else, and then bring it back after you've completed everything. I know some simmers were already missing the login rewards even before this event, so still hoping they just unlock them for everyone.
This helped thank you. I went to both steam and EA and made sure automatic update is on. I also went on steam my account backup game file and then check the integrity of the game. I did delete accountdatadb, so oops. I also removed depotcache and moved my mods to the side. Then I shutdown my pc. Started the game and the reapers pop up again. I also notice the issues I had with the lighting in some builds got fix so I didn't see no more sims glowing bright. Also, the paranormal kit started to work. So many problems got fixed. The reaper rewards took a minute then quest started. I did force shut down at first because it froze the quest again. Then I didn't go or touch anything and completed the quest. Hope it helps someone
I don’t know if I saw you say this somewhere else or saw someone else say it, but either way, that’s a pretty cool find. I remember years ago when there were fewer fish in the game you could fish up some crazy stuff, and this is giving those kind of vibes. I’ll never forget the time I caught a shower, because like how?? 😂 But you just pulled out of the trash a connection to the grim reaper that didn’t exist yet 😮

I agree that they should just make the other rewards available to everyone. It's far less infuriating for them to make free content free, than it is to make paid content free
I refuse to play the life and death thing. It’s not Something I like !! that’s why peoples game got screwed up. I’m gonna ignore it every time I see it until the quest is over.!
Can we talk about how that last patch made the game more fun than I ever remember Sims four being? Yes there’s glitches that I haven’t experienced, but I’m telling you this is the most fun I’ve ever ever had in Sims four.
The event items are nice but the event is SO buggy. Planting the flowers doesn't register for me, I closed the game and reopened and the event quests panel was completely blank. I've got no mods and a game repair didn't fix it, so I'm stuck waiting for them to figure it out. It blows :/
Same, fresh new game without mods or cc, and still the flower planting won't check. EA isn't capable of pulling timed events on the Sims 4, it's just too buggy to work.
@FrogglesMcBoggles i planted everything with no problems. All the tasks were so quick to finish and everything worked out. Am sorry everyone is not having the same results... I even had my mccc and tmex mods in and it all ran well. Even gardening is going ok...
When you don't have the pack, that part of the challenge doesn't show up. The challenge is only a tad bit shorter and thankfully seems to not rub what you are lacking in your face. Yet.
Overall, I like the items and the event is funish, but the fact that it’s limited time and that means these items can’t be used in official content, bites. I would be on board with permanent scenarios with new items as rewards especially if those new items could still be used in stuff and finishing the scenarios just made getting them easier.
The event being added as scenerio after a period of time would be fair to those who missed out for sure , and they haven't updated that feature in along time.
Its all working fine for me, hope everyone else gets theirs fixed, I'm honestly having some fun cuz I made the crew for this event out of characters I've made across my entire time making sims just based on who'd be the best at things, some remakes of old characters, some ocs and some redesigned characters, its been chaotic and fun
The grim reaper thing going on is so fun!! I like that's its teaching you how to make the ambrosia drink. I've never made it before. It was so fast. I enjoyed it.
@@tuffonion My imagination, I see a purple hidden world with spirits floating around. You go through a mausoleum like in Sims 3, which will take you to the hidden world. I want a huge pond/pool that is the resurrection pool. I want spooky things for pets, I want fun new creatures. If we bring back zombies, why just pop out the ground? They can come out of a coffin like vampires do. A garden of death flowers, Grims home from the Sims 3 store.
I haven't been able to do any of this. I even started a brand new save to do it and the event is there, but I don't have any goals listed at all. Another annoying things is, I can't summon my island elementals while another event is going on and I can't get rid of the reaper event. Sigh.
I didn't have any issues with the event, thought it was pretty fun. I tried "Ask Sim to follow his dream job" and it said that she couldn't because she didn't know what career Grim had yet. So I had her "Ask about career" and Grim said: "Oh, you'll find out soon enough...Wait! I've said too much!" I thought that was a fun detail.
I know im not in the majority here but, if this wasnt so glitchy, i actually enjoy thus a lot. The sims has always been missing a sense of progression and imo playing to unlock items is much more fun than just instantly getting them without doing anything. I dont like the limited time nature of it but i de like the gamplay aspect of it. I would like it if the panel that has the events was permanent and as we get new events, past ones would still be playable. Like you can select one to start at any time but you can only progress one at a time.
Mine was amazingly smooth and quite fast! Thought it would take a week the way it initially sounded. The only thing i didn't like was to have to log off and back in to get one reward then to complete. Mind you, since the update my game is a lot faster and smoother so not as frustrating as before
My quest literally vanished??? I cant see them anymore and I couldnt complete certain things because the chat option just stopped showing up after the 2nd sim I talked to.
same! the tasks where working find but I decided to make my sim move lots because of lack of space on my previous lot and now the tasks doesn't appear, I still have the window task on the upper left corner but nothing is written in it and I can't complete any tasks anymore. I tried loading a previous save, changing save completely by making a new one and moving the CC folder and the cache file but nothing fixes it
It’s interesting that it’s a little different, I had to plant a lily & a snapdragon for instance. And yes, there is some mod interference, Crin recommended to remove your mods for this event.
Well, whatever you do, don’t pause the game before the UI for the event fully loads because it breaks the rewards event! Just to be safe I wouldn’t switch to a new save while you’re doing the rewards event either.
It looked like the wait for ambrosia society newsletter checked off instantly when you switched to that quest, leaving you the read newsletter task which isn’t supposed to show until the newsletter is delivered. So I would assume you didn’t have the “expedite” option because your game thought you already had it. 🤔 Edit: Not sure what you mean by “cheating” it? It didn’t start giving you points again until you reached the tasks you hadn’t done previously.
I planted the two flowers multiple times and they won't count. This event is so close to being so frustrating that I give up and write off participating in ANY future events.
I'm honestly amazed so many people had problems, had no issues whatsoever and I'm on a 2017 HP Notebook laptop. This thing isn't even built to handle The Sims.
I took the file out, one of the quests is marked as complete and the other disappeared. I hope we can still get this week's rewards next week, I don't have the lot challenge :(

This event is not working for me at all. The tasts don´t show up in the little grim reaper event window. It´s so annoying. I repaired my games a few times took out my mods and cc but nothing works.
In my game it stop right after the earrings award. I was playing with 2 Sims. When the letter came I had her to read the letter. It was the wrong sims that read the letter. Why EA didnt mention or suggested to play with only 1 sims. And then TY here was no more instruction on what to do next. All I see is the little Grimm guy. And now it's the 2nd week. And the game won't let me finish the first week.
Oh ok, that's a relief! I hope you didn't delete the old accountDataDB file if you did the previous login event though. Moving mine to the desktop also meant losing the login event rewards, but I didn't notice until after this video was out. I moved the old copy back into The Sims 4 folder, and it brought them back while also keeping my Reaper's Rewards progress and rewards. Will probably have to do this again each week until I've done all the quests. Ugh!
@IronSeagull thanks for the info, I didn't even notice if I kept the rewards from the previous event. I didn't delete the file, just moved it to a temp folder on my desktop. I wasn't sure if I should move it back since removing it actually restarted the event from the beginning.
My game wont start the A call away guest. I have been stuck for so long. no mods or anything, new game. Tried to change some files but nothing works. :(

The button to open the Reaper's Reward don't work for me😭 Then, the Ambrosia Society's Newsletter DO NOT transfer from the mail box to my Sim's inventory... Even after ordering a replacement. Hope that «Ask the spirits about ambrosia» task is ONLY present for those who do have paranormal. Then, after planting 8 lilys and 10 snapdragons, those two are still NOT done. And yes, I planted some unsheltered and some sheltered. A plant need to be at least germinated before you can do research. My Sim have a head start as she already have level 10 in gardening, cooking and gourmet cooking, completed the Master Cher and Mixologist aspirations. If you have UI Cheat Expansion, you absolutely need the latest version, or several UI elements will just vanish. Possibly ALL of them.
I was able to complete the event, but one task was to use a seance table that was worth the most points, so this event is not base game compatiable?? I have the paranormal pack so I just want to see if this option was unique to me.
I lost all the 1st free rewards. There is nothing is on the gallery. I can can save what other players have shared but why would I want to try for these rewards if I'll lose them? I am on Xbox X and wondering if other console players are having the same problem. Well just to let you know I enjoy your content.
I don’t know what consoles people have had problems with, but I have heard that console players have had login rewards or both login rewards and early purchase and promo rewards disappear. There’s a bug report for it somewhere that you can add to or can use to ask for help.
I honestly couldn't care less about this crap. I didn't buy the last expansion, don't plan on buying this one. I just want that stupid RR stuff at the lefthand top of my screen to GO AWAY! It's obtrusive and distracting. What a stupid thing to put "in game".
What is up with the places though that keep poping up. Like the Hauntes house and Some summer house place. Is ANYONE else getthing those?? WHAT is it about? I can see they are to put in lots but beyond that I DON'T know what they are about. I just just clicked out of it by hittng X on the page of it I just WANT to PLAY MY event thats all. 🤩👍✌
13:26 With the hairstyle from the last event, I clicked on it, changed to something else, clicked on it, again, and did this a few more times over several days. Eventually it stopped showing as new. Maybe that will work for you.
This was actually happening to me even before the update. It could’ve always been an issue on my new computer since installing the game but I wasn’t paying enough attention. I think it’ll keep happening forever unless it gets patched 😅
@@IronSeagull Oh, I mean that the hairstyle when I first unlocked it was in a perpetual state of new item and it took quite a while to make it quit doing that, but it’s been good for at least a month.
@@StoryGirl83 Did that only happen to you with the hair though? Because this happens to me with both CAS and the Build/Buy items. The Practice Makes Perfect trait is an exception but I can't remember if that was ever marked as new
@@IronSeagull Other things, too. I forget what, but I had to do this with at least one other thing (pretty sure I remember doing this with the necklace). It might be more than that, but I don’t remember for sure. And no, I don’t think the trait ever was marked as new. I don’t think it did this with everything. I think it was just in CAS, but I’m not sure. It’s also possible that I only fixed it in CAS. I’d have to check build/buy for the event items. The pillow is the main BB item I have used. I have spent more time in CAS since that event because I was trying to update all my mods. To be clear, although I did do the event and “unlocked” everything in order, before I did that I did use the code to unlock everything like you did (so when I unlocked them in the event I already had access to them), so I have also considered this might be because of that.
18:57 Probably a mod. I went into CAS when I was working on it and it didn’t glitch out on me. Took me a while since I was using a household fresh out of CAS, but no glitching.

this event is so buggy. I can’t get past the first quest! I keep planting snapdragons and lilies, but the event doesn’t check them off.

13:26 With the hairstyle from the last event, I clicked on it, changed to something else, clicked on it, again, and did this a few more times over several days. Eventually it stopped showing as new. Maybe that will work for you.
This was actually happening to me even before the update. It could’ve always been an issue on my new computer since installing the game but I wasn’t paying enough attention. I think it’ll keep happening forever unless it gets patched 😅
@@IronSeagull Oh, I mean that the hairstyle when I first unlocked it was in a perpetual state of new item and it took quite a while to make it quit doing that, but it’s been good for at least a month.
@@StoryGirl83 Did that only happen to you with the hair though? Because this happens to me with both CAS and the Build/Buy items. The Practice Makes Perfect trait is an exception but I can't remember if that was ever marked as new
@@IronSeagull Other things, too. I forget what, but I had to do this with at least one other thing (pretty sure I remember doing this with the necklace). It might be more than that, but I don’t remember for sure. And no, I don’t think the trait ever was marked as new. I don’t think it did this with everything. I think it was just in CAS, but I’m not sure. It’s also possible that I only fixed it in CAS. I’d have to check build/buy for the event items. The pillow is the main BB item I have used. I have spent more time in CAS since that event because I was trying to update all my mods.
To be clear, although I did do the event and “unlocked” everything in order, before I did that I did use the code to unlock everything like you did (so when I unlocked them in the event I already had access to them), so I have also considered this might be because of that.
18:57 Probably a mod. I went into CAS when I was working on it and it didn’t glitch out on me. Took me a while since I was using a household fresh out of CAS, but no glitching.
