I've been playing a sim who makes random jewelry and lists it on Plopsy, and it feels broken. She rakes in about 50k every week from Plopsy sales. She's living a soft life of golden chickens, gemstone trees, and endless Plopsy sales.
I realized a long time ago that the economy of the Sims 4 is based on short life span and it doesn't scale up. I wish I had the ability to reach Maxis and ask them to scale the cost/pay scale with what lifespan people are playing with. On short lifespan it is a struggle to get enough money to succeed at anything before you age up. So my gemstone girl, named crystal( I know), was selling on plopsy trying to buy a store front boutique to move her gem business out of her living room. It was nice to fully design the store and make a goal for her.......and then she won the lottery literally and could easily afford her store. So now I am working on designing and furnishing her dream home to create a new goal.
Good to know exactly how some of those crystal powers work, thanks! The mood-decaying ones are really powerful, but it's a bit annoying that the ones that boost skills REQUIRE you to be in the right mood, instead of just providing a general boost overall. *grumble* Moonstone is where it's at, though -- my vampire needs to have their thirst decay slowed down!
I can never get through one of Petey's videos on the first go. I always have to close it on my laptop and launch the game! He always makes me want to play right away. I then go back to the video on my phone! 😂😂
I haven't bough this pack but I kinda want to get it just for the new tree. I think planting a bunch of those to make a crystal tree forest would be so cool.
I don't know if I'm exceedingly lucky or what, but my Gemology Sim couple has not botched a single item they've crafted in the gemology table. Ever. Its *eerie.*
@@lunamax1214 Get your gemologist sim a chessboard. Have them "ponder moves" for a while. Also, if you have a painter sim, have them make several "mathmatical diagram" paintings, hang them near the gemology table and enable the emotional aura on them. Hope that helps!
I bought this recently because I needed a new skill to max out for my super duper vampire and also because it was on sale. I'm excited to dig into this skill now that I know wtf to do with it 🤣
I finally got brave and updated my game, so I was able to buy Crystal Creations. I've been playing around with it the last few days. I usually go for more "realism" in my game, so charging crystals is a bit out there for me, but the benefits are pretty great. My favorite crystals so far, are Amber, Quartz, Amethyst, Turquoise, and Rose. Amber, because I prefer sunny weather in my game, but don't want to play without seasons/holidays; Quartz for the extra Satisfaction points*, Amethyst because it helps the crappy, un-upgraded beds provided energy faster; Turquoise to boost Charisma skill gains; and Rose, so my Sim can work all day and not need to socialize. *A note about the Satisfaction Reward Points: While my game didn't show them being rewarded at the time of completion, floating up on-screen, she did seem to be racking up points at an accelerated rate. I was thinking that the tally within the menu had the proper total. I have not tested this properly. Thanks for this guide. I learned several things, and appreciated the comprehensive approach. I'm always looking for more intel on this game!
I’ve got a teenage sim who Ive decided will become a witch and this pack complements it so well! I was going to have her be a ghost hunter for money but I may just have her sell her creations!
I had a sims with the grilled cheese aspiration and you need to speak to the grim reaper and discuss grilled cheese it’s never became easier with the jet crystal and spawn him in once charged.
Before my game completely crashed and half of everything was gone and now I have to start from the beginning of the game, I kept getting the crystal seeds by fishing. I really like the crystal creations pack. Anything that comes with new skills and new things to make I like. It took me an hour to figure out some of the things for this pack but still learning
Diamond also *clears* relationship fears. My sim and her fiancée were chatting with a third person, and apparently lady-love flirted and then instead of it going to her wife-to-be ... it went to the friend. *facepalm* My sim got jealous and a fear of breaking up, I grumbled over having forgotten to recharge the ring (at this point I have two for each of them, so that when one is drained they can use the other) and put on the charged ring. Fear gone!
I wouldn't call 7 days for a crystal tree excessive. In real life it takes a real tree several years (depending on the tree) before you can get a good crop of fruit. So 7 days is what I would expect. I think money trees already take that long anyway.
Also seven days in sims time is sort of equivalent to about a month/ four weeks when going off the longest length of seasons so overall it’s actually a really quick growing process.
It’d probably be too overpowered…but it would be cool if they made a trait or reward that makes gems and jewelry stay charged indefinitely, or for like a week or something
The aspiration reward trait does make worn jewelry effects last for four days as opposed to the usual two before draining. Anything more than that would definitely be overpowered, especially Plumbite.
I would love that! And you can always take it off if you don't want that "power" anymore and just wear it when you need it. Edit: I just found a mod that does this! It's the Longer Crystal Charge & More mod by Simularity. It keeps your crystals & jewelry charged for 14 days.
I feel like the Eye jewelry set is a little tongue-in-cheek nod to the original eyeball ring that everyone "loves" so much. I also wish the jewelry would stay charged for 3 to 5 days because every two days makes it a part of a daily routine. Totally didn't know that worn jewelry only loses charge when worn- TY! My find crystal gem works really well like everyday a new gem appears .
No, but I put one of the harvest fest gnomes into the absurd fence of rainbow crystal gnomes I constructed, if that makes you feel better. That's the imposter gnome. That one moves around sometimes.
And a third way to get gemology skills is if your Sim is a scientist and experiments on the chemistry lab. Weird huh? My scientist Sim gained skills faster than his daughter using the gemology table.
Is there a mod that makes it easier to run a retail shop that only uses items you've created? (ie: restocks from inventory rather than you needing to rebuy the item.) I have a witch sim that runs a potion shop and I'd love to do something similar with a jewelery store, but manually restocking is a pain. 😅
Thank you for the kind comment Robert :), and the door is called the 'Fox Knocker Door' and it's from Cottage Living. The video shows the back but it has a big fox face on the front side of it :).
This pack becomes broken with a spellcaster that can use copypasto. I fully charge a creation and start copying them. And if the creation isn’t excellent quality, I eat a golden omelette, which I bought at one of my retail lots giving me and unlimited amount of them, and use golden pulse to improve the quality of the creation. Which spellcasters can also make the quality of the Crystal tree perfect via their spell. How I started using cut gemstones is I have 7 of them on a charging grid. And I have a few copys of them on other charging grids. And so I move on set into the house and put it in areas my sims need it, especially close to my child sim who is needing to learn a lot. And every night I switch the grid out with a fully charged one. This keeps the bonuses going constantly.
There are two tables that come with that pack - one is just a desk. Worth checking that you're using the right one. If that's not it, try clearing mods/cc
The only thing I can't seem to figure out or research is, do gemstone effects stack? Like if you make four Moonstone items and wear them all, does your Vampire's Thirst need decrease 4x slower? Or does it not work that way??
If anyone gets curious, I tested it: The range of the aura is about 4 squares radius, it seems to be relatively circular, it goes through walls, but not up or down levels. Also, cut crystals on a crystal charging grid do not have their aura while the grid is in charging mode, no matter the charge level on the crystal.
Gemstones have an AOE effect when you charge and place them, i.e. Plumbite will increase *everyone's* needs around it. Jewelry that you craft will only affect the Sim wearing it, i.e. Plumbite will only increase the wearer's needs.
I've been playing a sim who makes random jewelry and lists it on Plopsy, and it feels broken. She rakes in about 50k every week from Plopsy sales. She's living a soft life of golden chickens, gemstone trees, and endless Plopsy sales.

tbh that kind of thing applies to a lot of the sims 4, it's very easy to get a lot of money

Didn’t even think about listing them on Plopsy. Definitely going to now.
Fun thing I tested for Plumbite: it works on infants except that they have a timer for being awake and will still need a nap!

Great overview. I am very happy with the special effects for spellcasters, vampires, werewolves and aliens. Too bad mermaids didn't get anything.
Justice for mermaids!!
Now I really want to add some of the jewelry to my museum build
I don't know if I'm exceedingly lucky or what, but my Gemology Sim couple has not botched a single item they've crafted in the gemology table. Ever. Its *eerie.*
I've found that if my sims are in a focused mood when they make jewelry it doesn't get botched.
@GK-ob1ni I WISH they'd get into a focused mood! At least then they'd finish that milestone for the Aspiration. 😂
@@lunamax1214 The incense from the Spa Day pack and the candles from Eco Lifestyle are what I use for getting sims focused and they help a lot.
The sims team often struggles with balancing features like that so it could be slightly broken. I’ve seen only one botched piece.

plumbite if you charge a cut gem and throw it in the most used area of your house is literally broken levels of overpowered.
The area of effect goes through walls, not sure if it's a glitch, but you put it on a charger outside the area you need. Constant power.
I know what you mean. It feels like I'm cheating.
@callaae Okay, I thought I was imagining the effect going through walls. Hoky cowplant. . .
@@lunamax1214 okay, I'd never thought of that. Imma be using holy cowplant whenever I talk about the Sims. Thank you, that is really cool.

Fun fact: once you reach level 6 you are obliged to make a rose quartz star-shaped gemstone and name it Patrick Star.
