What's your take? Do you think the Transalp will struggle to offer a decent value while competing against Honda's own Africa Twin or the Yamaha Tenere 700? How smooth do you think the engine will be for off-road use while making 90hp?
Maximum power is not so important. In reality we seldomn rev the engine si high! I think , honda can build an engine that is smooth an reliable: NC 750. But consumer want more power. So honda now offers an engine that can rev higher and deliver 90 horsepower. We should compare the two engines in reality!
@@stefanjepp6612 Totally agree on the power, especially on an ADV bike. I’m looking forward to seeing how the new power plant will provide its 90hp, and how smooth it is. Honda apparently hasn’t drastically changed the “tuning” from the new Hornet, at least based on HP and torque numbers. I’m hoping it will be a smooth delivery, and something that would inspire some confidence in off road situations…but time will tell. Can’t wait to see how they perform. Ride Safe!
The return of a legend after a 10 years absence..With its reputation of extreme reliability & endurance. Introduced in 1986 as XLV even before the mighty AT. Loved from the arctic to the tropics. Reached almost cult status & have a huge following with even dedicated TA Clubs. This is the 4th generation TA now as a paralell Twin & from paper the best one yet. The new TA is promising but not perfect with 2022 goggles on. XL was never Hondas dirt oriented models its more a comfortable allrounder fex like the Varadero XL1000V. XR/CRF are Hondas dirt focused bikes. The mighty Africa Twin now called CRF1000/1100 (2016- present) but named XRV650/750 from 1988-2003. This is Hondas flagship model & has always been. TA was always the smaller sister. So wanting more features on the TA like: cc, tubeless & advanced suspension etc will hurt sales of their flagship model so that will probably never happen. With this is mind the new TA seems pretty decent value for what it is.
Blazo- I’m planning on regular updates (warts and all) for the Tuareg and Pan America. Thanks for watching! The charts were a labor of love, but it’s some fun content to make.
I'm surprised and disappointed you didn't add the Triumph Tiger 900 rally pro. However I really appreciate all of your videos they're fantastic. From Omaha Nebraska to USA

@@sspirito3130 Its a choice one has to make depending on the job at hand. Gettin spares if stuck in a distant country i know what i choose. Furthermore AT has been around since 1988. The new generation AT from 2016 are modern bikes & has more electronics.
I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. This bike is more Honda CB500X+ than it is mini Africa Twin or T7/ Tuareg competitor. It’s probably going to be great for road focused riders that want to have a more capable bike for some off road riding, but less compelling for BDR loving serious adventure types. The same is probably true for the new V-Strom with its 17” rear wheel and reportedly squishy rear suspension. For low seat height lovers like myself, the Tuareg, Norden 901, and KTM 890 Adventure S with their low seat accessories are probably the best options out there when you look at everything comparatively. The Africa Twin and the Triumph Rally are two of my favorite heavier bike options. Neither is cheap though. The Taureg and Norden 901 are probably the coolest out of all of them.
Urban Adventurer - Love the comment, great points! It does seem like a bunch of riders were hoping and excited for a more capable platform, but based on what we're seeing so far...that doesn't appear like it's going to be the Transalp. I'm very interested to see how the power plant will deliver power in an ADV role. I'm a little dubious about their claims, however, if the bike is going to be meant for 90% road riding, then that makes a bit more sense. Ride Safe!!
Double X - That QS is a great value add. Instead of simply being a vehicle to solely sell accessories for, they're offering some nice value out of the gate (assuming the price is within reason).
Adventure bikes with more than 80 to 100 Hp are just bonkers regardless of weight on tracks or gravel roads my v strom 650 will power slide around corners at speeds that are nuts so fun an no need for all the electronics no normal rider can put these bikes to the limit of there purpose. If you bottom your bike out all the time you're not shifting your weight correctly, not setting up for the terrain in front if you, you end up hitting things like you're something special. Which you are to the one's at home. These bikes will be awesome ride them and then comment 👍

Transalp's 90Hp comes in high Rev. You don't need high revs in off road machines. Torque matters

The Tuareg actually to me looks like the best deal with great specs.

Never compare European to Japaneese models in the filed of reliability
Ahhhhh, I like the chart and would have been interesting w/the Tiger 900 Rally in there also. 👍👍👍
Good call!
Honda should have put the same suspension as the Tuareg, both are Kayaba

Great video, thanks. Only 11cc difference between the Suzuki, interesting, cool. But the quickshifter kinda has me

To buy a vehicle not only spec’s and models, but more like durability and after sale..
Not much offroad trails in Europe, build an offroad version for North America. We have plenty of offroad trails.
Meaningful video, features like cruise control is missing therfore Honda has to struggle in adv tourer segment.
Jitendra - Right? Just when it seems like the Transalp has a solid place to land (touring focused light-offroad-useadv bike), they don't offer CC...
The people want a wr500r.Or a new xr650l.Not a big street bike with dirt wheels.Come on Honda,we know you can do it.
Depends on the usage. If You need a Honda:
More dirt get: XR/CRF
More comfort & allrounder get: XL/VFR
Quickshifter, hand guard, skid plate as standard, and hopefully, budget friendly, I'll go for V-Strom 800DE.
Can’t wait to see pricing and NA availability announced.
Tons of great bikes to choose from.
