The look catches your interest, but it really is the character that draws you in. She is such an honest and straightforward person who is fully in touch with herself, it's awesome. Also to this day she has that great sense of humor that still shines through her comments.

But after the original actress who played Vampira disagreed on hiring Cassandra Peterson, she quit the project. The studio then decided to continue without her or her name, renaming the character ‘Elvira’ and Cassandra created a new personality for the character. Vampira even sued Elvira and ended up losing. Surprised that wasn’t mentioned at all in this lol

I was lucky enough to be Elvira and her husband at a book signing in West LA some years. We took pictures together she autograph my pictures and we laughed and had such a grand old time. She is definitely very down-to-earth! Very genuine!! I've been a fan of hers since the good old days. She does seem ageless! Could be her vegetarian vegan diet are just great genes! All-in-all Elvira's one of my favorite people! sometimes you meet your idols and they turn out to be real jerks Elvira turned out to be an extraordinarily wonderful human being!

There’s a photo of Elvira in my Grandmothers shop in street clothes with my grandmother and one of the wigs. I was shocked when I found out that Elvira was actually a red head. I think it’s a great family story, and the photo is still in the family.

I'm 64 and I watched as soon as she got syndicated to the bay area. I was blown away at the character she created! Campy, vampy and funny as hell. She will always rule!

When I was about 12 or 13 I was at a worksite with my dad doing some plumbing in the summer at a TV channel....I can’t remember which one, any way I saw A beautiful red head dressed in jeans and a tee shirt walk into the TV station and right by me. I was so captivated so my dad said to me if I would like to meet her. My dad owned the plumbing company and went to talk to some people if I could. When he came back he escorted me to her dressing room and she opened the door. She sat down with me and asked if she knew who she was and I said no....my dad was laughing and I didn’t know why. She said wait a minute and went in the back and when she came out she had the wig on. I just about pooped my pants. She showed how it was a wig and the chest piece she wears. She explained everything and answered all my questions. I said my dad and I watch her every Saturday night on TV so she asked if I would like watch a taping and of course I said YES ! Well it kinda took some of the mystery out of the show for me, but I can tell you she was the nicest, kindest person that to this day I remember. Elvira if you are reading this THANK YOU.
