Bret Hart is "The Excellence of Execution". One his trademark lines along with "I'm the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be." You really could have just googled Bret Hart and found that out. =P
I'm not a fan (I like him, but I don't know much) so I wouldn't have thought to google that; I thought that was coming from you and whatever thoughts swirled in your head. :p
i was actully there at the live taping of this show, everyone in the audience thought it was real and it was dead silent , those laugh tracks and hollering when bret put him in a sharpshoter had to be editied in because when i was there there wasent a sound in the building
I remember when Bret hart first got to the podium he fumbled one of his lines and he said I can’t do this They reset from the beginning and the rest of it was done with that take. I was a huge Bret hart fan and had no idea he would be there that night . I think I went there because of a school field trip or something like that . Good times
+home9dog2blue this was fake it was a promoting wcw, later on in the year will sasso would make an appearance on wcw to face Bret hart in a match, will was accompanied by Debra wilson the woman who he supposedly twisted her arm she screamed bloody murder, well during that match Debra betrayed will and gave Bret the victory, hell even that made it into a mad tv show later on, when I believe it was roddy piper that made them stand together and apologize to each other for what happened during the match.
I know this was real. What Bret stated about Will Sasso picking him up at an earlier video was true. I can't find the video but it happened at the end of it.
It's a shame Bret Hart left the company before the Attitude Era kicked into full gear because I think he would have been right up there with major players like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, The Rock, and HHH who all made that era so successful.
I don't think the Attitude Era would've existed if the Montreal Screwjob didn't happen. It led to the creation of the "Mr McMahon" character and gave WWF the edge to fuel the Monday Night Wars
Yeah I agree, the Monday night wars was the highlight of that time, I used to remember every Monday night flipping between both shows trying not to miss anything.
@@dennisbowen452 Yep, back when they decided to bring celebrities to matches to make a quick buck off star power. Remember when Diamond Dallas Page teamed with Jay Leno to take on Hollywood Hogan and Eric Bischoff at that Road Wild PPV from 1998?
i remember growing up watching this, it felt so damn legit because i didnt know any better, i was in my mid teens when this shit happened, i wish we had programs like this on tv still where that show plus the company they represent could do a small advert like that and spike some ratings in both products, wrestling and reality tv rock but cmon comedy shows do it better :D .... oh yeah and TV 14 as well :)
Anyone else find it funny that Bret was stomping during the chair shots? Awesome. I'm pretty sure if you gave Bret a chair right now, he'd stomp. It's probably harder for me NOT to do it.
It's not technically added in. They perform it live for the audience, then they screen in for a different audience (which isn't live), they are watching a large screen. I went to a screening for MadTV, it's weird how it works.
Were there any other cast members at the time that impersonated wrestlers besides Will Sasso? Seems like he was the go-to guy for wrestler impersonations since he's such a big fan.
Yeah, plus the way he falls when he gets hit with the chair is such a wrestling fall. And despite all that, someone like Bret Hart wouldn't act like that anyway, especially bullying women around, and going on a rampage just because he didn't like the role he played on his last appearance. That wouldn't be Sasso's fault, and if he didn't like it, he could've went home. I remember the news reporting this as real, but that may have been part of the act as well. Pretty cool concept though.
they got into it again during the closing crediyts of this same episode but you never see that one. Bret came out of nowhere and push Will down then Will decided he had enough and went backstage to his dressing room where Bret came from behind and attacked Will again. Will tried punching him once but Bret hit back, then when Bret tried opening his door, will's ;leg got in the way so Bret started punching him again. Alex came out and yelled at him to leave him alone then Bret went "ok i'm going"
Yea, I thought it was real too until Will Sasso got hit with the chair. I guess people in the audience don't watch wrestling much, or else they would know that it was scripted based on how Sasso twitches on the floor after every chair shot, or how Hart does that little "wrestling hop" each time he swings the chair.
The biggest giveaways for me are that Will supposedly tries to persuade everyone to start over again, and the way he completely turns his back to Bret so he can get hit by the chair. And it's funny that Bret grabs a mic when everyone can hear him already. And how he says "I'm sorry" with his Canadian accent. And the fact that he says "Mad TV can bite me!" with a straight face.
@JandJMusicMan yeah at first i thought everyone was in on it but then she looked like she was crying and walked off set cursing, but then she sided with him at the match so i thought that Bret just apologized to her off stage or something and she agreed to do that skit siding with him, but your theory kind of makes more since....
Of course it was scripted ya boneheads, no one would hit someone with a chair then throw them in a leglock if they were genuinely mad. There would be criminal charges laid against him too. It was a hell of a performance by everyone involved though, the MadTV cast back then had some incredibly good acting and comedy skills
too bad that the part during the credits of this episode was cut. Bret came back out and pushed Sasso and Will got tired of it and went back to the dressing room only to have bret punch him, give him the piledriver, etc. Is that on here anywhere?
Bullshit. This, just like wrestling, was fake. Sasso's a big fan of wrestling, which is why he played the part so well. Not to mention, Bret Hart is a really nice guy, he's not violent at all.
@Bluelunes o ya ur rite they wouldnt have aired it. i watched it like 5 times to see if they were playing around or not and usualy i can tell if they are acting but i couldnt tell, so that could be that they are just really really good actors or this really happend but that was way cool how he beat up everyone like that and just left haha
It really speaks to my naivete that I actually thought THIS shit was real, on top of wrestling and Santa Claus existing. I actually thought he was causing having on the set of Madtv lmao
+Shanethefilmmaker It would be if he really meant it. Sadly, this was proven to be a stunt to boost WCW rating by having Bret Hart and Will Sasso start a fued that would lead to a match in Monday Nitro where Bret won because Deborah betrayed Will.
Yeah, but I kind of think everyone voted for him at first just to see if he could even pronounce the word governor without sounding like he had a mouthful of gravel.
that was played out so good parts of it almost made you wonder if it was real like he went from acting like Jesse Ventura to being himself to apologies to more brawling it was put together real nice then Bret follows up with Mad TV can bite me that was cool
Did Bret Hart tell Nicole Sullivan it was none of her business after he told her to shut up? I noticed Debra Wilson was walking away after he twisted her arm behind her back. He did the same thing to Phil LaMarr.
It was definitely scripted. If you want any other reason, the only way you can put somebody into the Sharpshooter is if somebody lets you. And Bret said in his autobiography that it was scripted
It WAS real: During the episode that aired on February 6, 1999, Bret Hart appeared in a sketch with Will Sasso. ... It was unclear whether this was part of the sketch or ad-libbed until a Mad TV head writer revealed that the fight was real and Sasso did actually bleed.
Oh give me a BREAK. It was a parody on the scripting of professional wrestling. You people need to buy a clue. Bret Hart is a gentleman, and he was playing the part. Sheesh.
No it isn't. It's suppose to make it look real. It's called a workshoot. Meaning that it's suppose to make it look real to convince people. It's clearly stated in Wikipedia.
This shoot was "executed" so "excellently" that people are still buying it 15 years later. XD
I am a total SUCKER for MadTV. It's like, really bad. It's so bad that I don't even know why you have "executed" and "excellently" in quotes.
If you were a fan of Bret Hart, you'd know why.

Wow! Thanks for sharing, man!
Makes sense because the audience is extremely still and quiet when Bret snatched the mic.

They reset from the beginning and the rest of it was done with that take. I was a huge Bret hart fan and had no idea he would be there that night . I think I went there because of a school field trip or something like that . Good times
It was a pretty dark skit anyway, once Bret put that girl in the armlock I was like "o wow", but even before that, he was being a pretty scary bully
Lmfao Debra's part is what made it look real IMO
Right?!? She sold TF out of that armlock
LMAO 3:15 one of the audience says, "is he serious?" he's bret the hitman hart of course he's serious
That was awesome, you don't get heat like that anymore
I totally tought this was real back then. Bret Hart is so convincing!
When I first saw this it scared me & my brother half to death, I seriously thought it was real. Bravo Mad TV & Bret Hart, you really had us fooled!

@@marcossperezzy6281Possibly how WCW and MadTV planned this little cash grab for the wrestling fed that basically doomed itself out of business.
Should have played Hart's music once he put him in the sharpshooter.
No because that would have ruined the illusion.
It's a shame Bret Hart left the company before the Attitude Era kicked into full gear because I think he would have been right up there with major players like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, The Rock, and HHH who all made that era so successful.
You're right, but at least he helped establish the Era, albeit unwillingly.
I don't think the Attitude Era would've existed if the Montreal Screwjob didn't happen. It led to the creation of the "Mr McMahon" character and gave WWF the edge to fuel the Monday Night Wars
I think he would of darkened his character, and made a good anti hero, hated by some loved by some kinda like the rock, he was simply the best
You have got to be a product of the ATTITUDE ERA to have any idea that this ever happened!!!! 90's WWF fans stand up!!!!!
Yeah I agree, the Monday night wars was the highlight of that time, I used to remember every Monday night flipping between both shows trying not to miss anything.

Laugh at that one Sasso!! love bret hart

Definitely a worked shoot, but damn sasso and Debra worked this to perfection. This was before the match on wcw later wasn't it?
Yes, it was, although at the end of the episode, there was supposedly a real fight where Will was running away from Bret.
