Great video. I especially liked when you pointed out that copying a master or learning something new should be uncomfortable. If it’s not uncomfortable then I’m not trying. That will be my new mantra. I subscribed
Great video ! I paint with watercolor, and have been learning the same lessons. Most of the time the things that look simple and easy, are so much harder then I thought they were. I just keep at it until I'm happy and learned from doing it.
Thank you for making such a good, high quality video and commentary, I was honestly surprised when you mentioned the subscriber count. Beautiful work on the video and especially on the paintings.
Interesting (and funny) to hear your thoughts about the experience, its not easy to find people talking about their learning process as they go through it in this way thanks for sharing :D 👍
Something you miss entirely was how much of the impasto work of the Henri Fantin-Latour in those lilies(and general) is actually scraped off/shapen with a wooden tip or a painting knife. In general discovering the power of the painting knife/scrape can help you with the value mistakes from the beginning as well (Although I doubt that madness was ala prima to begin with). Painting knife can helps with keeping just the minimal required paint layer on the canvas, and with thinner layer you get more control of the values. Its kind of the closest thing to 'undo' in the digital medium. But also using oil ground is key, acrylic gesso can be too absorbent/too easily tinted.
Realistic flowers are really hard! No wonder LaTour's hair looks pulled out! White on white---mix all your colors with white. My favorite floral painter is Heade, But you are doing very bravely and well.
I am watching Phil Stark color video, your channel showed up. Really enjoyed all of them. Human brain has been developing over millions of years. The old masters spent a lifetime learning and perfecting one craft. Modern humans have so much distraction, most artists want to discover a lighting moment instead of going through the process of training. Keep up with the good work, your videos are filled with knowledge and inspiration
Bro how high are you when you make these videos lol you look so stoned in all the ones ive watches so far. Love the content brother thanks for the inspiration fr
This is gonna blow up 0 doubt. Also, dedicating your life to painting is a much better decision then dedicating it to coding. You make real things, and get to take pride in that. This is a privilege software engineers rarely get to see.
whoa whoa whoa. Why are you shitting on software engineers? Without them we wouldn't have youtube or procreate or cell phones. Careful with your projections
Your perspective is quite unique and I'm really loving this channel. Are your monologues from improvised or scripted out beforehand? You're actually a fantastic writer (or orator)
You definitely followed the “Go big or go home” ethos here! First, you picked flowers. NOT easy! (Speaking from experience.) Second, you chose THE Master 19c floral painter we all aspire to. (I am so not worthy!)
Your video(/s) may be popular with the ladies due to the fact that roughly 60-70% of fine art students are typically female, as distinct from the proportion of successful female artists 😂
The guy who has 50 percent less skill but is world known is 500 percent more skilled. The guy who paints a circle and sells it for 50m is more of an artist. I think it comes down to subjecting people to the art and making it known, I think it's more important than the actual skill of drawing stuff or painting in a certain style.
It's why some songs become popular because they killed someone. If they didn't do the action then the same song wouldn't even be popular. If dali did RUclips videos do you think he'd be popular? Not a chance. It would remove his mystique. Same with popular artists they won't do much interviews, the ones who vlog will fall off, same type deal it kills the art. But it will help you yah, but it will limit you to teacher type rolls. You will become really rich yah but your art won't ever be celebrated.
Lots of people think Starbucks is the best coffee but it's not it's just the best known. So buy being the best known it becomes the best coffee in their minds.
Bro is baked af

He clearly loves his flower.

This was so chaotic yet informative and entertaining. I like it. I admire how you really push yourself. *subscribed*
I hope you blow up. For real It makes me so happy to see that there are a new wave of art content creators on this platform 🎉.
Best art content creator wish there was more content
People always complain about anatomy and proportion but imo rendering is way way harder. Especially realistically.
10/10 to the Oblivion soundtrack in the background, had the chills the whole video
In fact it`s the Morrowind Soundtrack... ;)
I have been praying for this to exist. You have done what i wish i could do. Please tell us about every detail in more videos.

Im impressed by yours style of painting and talking about it. I’m waiting for next videos
You’re incredibly relatable and hilarious. Thanks for being so honest about the artist journey
You are the SNL of painting instruction. I would say the Pete Davis of painting. Awesome introspection with humor and honesty. I love your work.

Gosh you are so funny! 😂 beautiful painting even that wasn’t what you were going for… 😉 making art is such a struggle for me but I love it 🤷🏻♀️
You're funny af and knowledgeable, good stuff.
You are really amazing, always wanted to draw flowers but ends by the case in ignoring the idea and back to drawing faces
Love your videos on tik tok so I came over here, love your art!

This guy is more zen and chilled than Bob Ross!
Aye! I'm also enjoying a glass of whiskey and a doink👌 and the painting is primo💪🔥👌
loved this, inspired me to draw for the longest time now!
may your creative journey flourish :D

Actually, I think he's a student of Vladimir London, Russian London-based visual artist

Congratulations! The lilies turned out splendidly!
The struggles brought forth something truly exceptional!
Well done!!!👏👏👏👏👏
7:06 the grass is not greener. I also wonder why I do this to myself, I could've been an artist instead.
I accidentally spaced out for a second before hearing about eating the paint
Great video!
i fugure you d be better off with first painting some flowers from life and then doing mastercopies of those paintings
Day 1 Asking you to paint dinosaurs. Ceratosaurus.
I'm struggling with painting flowers 😔 I can't learn the technique
Has anyone ever told you you look like a young tom cruise?
here before you blow up 🤠

Good info, but you look soooo high! 🥴 Maybe that's just how your eyes naturally look?
You look a lil too good

These comments are so unnecessary
Scumbling. Just wait till you learn scumbling. With transparent washes between.
You look like Jesse Spencer but also not
If you are the most skilled artist but you are the only one to see it then you are the worst artist. That's my opinion.
The guy who has 50 percent less skill but is world known is 500 percent more skilled. The guy who paints a circle and sells it for 50m is more of an artist. Because let's be honest anyone can get good with a bit of time. But not anyone can get people interested in your art even when it's deemed "good"
That's why I think there is a big difference between an artist and someone who can draw.
