With regards of the the masking tape ripping your paper off...thats due to the tape being too tacky for the paper. I find sticking the masking tape on to my clothes or my drawing board a few times before I stick it on to the paper works a treat. No more ripped paper!!
Also, pull the tape away from the artwork instead of straight across. Frog brand (I think that’s the name, it’s green) is the best I’ve used so far. Has never torn my 100% cotton watercolor ppr.
The outcomes of the artwork when using oil pastels genuinely astound me. When used on a surface, oil pastels have a creamy texture that makes them appear to be a cross between lipstick and a crayon. The ultimate product, in particular how the colors blended together, is pleasing to the eye. Oil pastel artwork typically relies more on the artistic mixing, smearing, and rubbing of colors according to personal preference. Additionally, the pastel paper specifically designed for oil pastels makes it much easier to capture or fully achieve the oil pastels' top color performance.
Great video! I have a nice set of oil pastels but when I attempted to use them, I got a big ugly mess. I have zero experience with them. I think your tips will really help me to make better use of this exciting medium. Thank you!

Iba talaga ang galing ng mga Yayen's lalo sa music and arts 🌸 God bless and more power to your channel, Kuya John! 🙏🏼
I just found you, Yayen. You are a great artist. Is there a sealer or fixative for oil pastels? Thank you for sharing I lost you, beautiful mystery oil pastel artist. I am so sad. You are the best oil pastel artist ever. Where can I find you. I hope that all is well with you, my darling young artist.
Yayen, I really enjoyed watching and learning from COMPLETE GUIDE TO USING OIL PASTELS, Yayen, have you thought about doing another video, but this time featuring SOFT/ DRY CHALK PASTELS this time.
It's possible to use a little bit of solvent on a brush to 'paint' the pastel e.g. for underpainting. You can get rubber spatula to move the paint around, rather than your finger. Also, oil pastel never dries (although it does if you paint it with solvent). Sennelier make an oil pastel fixing spray.
Kabayan! Love it. Pls make more videos especially some of your art work. Step by step art work pls. Other anymore blending materials like mineral spirit or rubbing alcohol? Can’t wait!
Thank you very much for this video! It was very informative. I always get confused on how to get sharp lines and how to finish my paintings. BTW fun fact: I clicked on this video because you look like a long-haired Brett Yang!
what a wonderful class. I am in love with oil pastels. although here in Brazil I can only access the Pentel brand, as it is cheaper and can be found in almost all artistic material stores.
Wow! This is so awesome! Now i want to try oil pastels. I like how your videos are also about history and even the composition of oil pastel 🙂 can’t wait for your next video! 🙌🏽💪🏾
Thank for your amazing content which is incredibly helpful. I have learned a lot. I am partially deaf though and do find it hard to hear you with the music playing at the same time as your speaking.

Thanks for the art advice!😊 I didn't know, I do have masking tape.
Also, pull the tape away from the artwork instead of straight across. Frog brand (I think that’s the name, it’s green) is the best I’ve used so far. Has never torn my 100% cotton watercolor ppr.
Also, use a hair dryer to heat up the tape. It makes the glue less sticky and pulls up, no problem!
I found a true artists masking tape that's low tack.
I use washi tape
