Lacey, I'm 33 now, and this was the exact song playing in my broken left earphone while I was job hunting when I was 20. Now, I have a stable job and I'm listening to it on my home office. Life does get better sometimes. missyou
She’s such a talented singer. And her screams are gorgeous! What a boring crowd tho. There she is giving her all, and rocking it, and they are just standing around.
Keep in mind they were at a festival with Korn headlining and this was around early afternoon... It is ALWAYS like this that early in the day, especially when the majority of the crowd would have never have heard of them before this... THIS was the performance that brought them recognition.
It's a shame too because I would LOVE this version of the song to be recorded. The lyrics are even a bit different since this is the demo if I'm not mistaken. So their super early days and I remember hearing all that back then, being barely 10 years old. I've listened to this band almost 20 years 😭
And the scream is amazingly controlled. She uses it as an occasional exclamation mark vs. some singers who sing with the exclamation mark the entire song.
She's so authentic she brings me to tears. What a truly incredible person she is. I really hope she understands how many people's lives she's touched through her performing and her books.
In 2007 I was working in south tx. I heard Flyleaf was playing in next town over. Called my daughter and told her. She liked their music. So I went and had someone from inside bring a shirt to the door. Months later I gave it to her. I asked about their music. She played some on computer. It Rocked!!. She was in her teens. We went to San Antonio to the tattoo convention and who is playing live in the parking lot. Flyleaf!! Awesome gig. Lacy in her sundress and the band doing high kicks while playing. I have always shared my music likes with my daughter. But with this one she outdid me!!. Love you always Dad.
Yes!!! Family values tour. Opened up for all of them. This place looks exactly like the one I went to in San Antonio,tx I was like 12yrs old with my dad but she was wearing a white dress. One of the Best memory of my life
sameeeeee. both of them with their lyrics and voices, they both inspire me so much. glad I'm not the only one. they're literally my two most favorite singers too c:
I really wish Flyleaf had seeked out this vibe more. They're a good band, don't get me wrong. But "I'm So Sick" is imo the best they put out. Gives a bit of Deftones vibe.
They don't really have many dark sounds smh I agree its their best track, but theyre my favorite rock band and they have some other tracks I really enjoy like circle and arise
I honestly think this day might have been her best live performance ever, atleast that was recorded. It's a shame there isn't more in the crowd. I also don't think she can perform like this anymore even though she has returned (2022). I would have loved to be front frow for this show.
OMG I was THERE! THE SECOND SHORTEST girl in the front row. Lacey looks right at me during All around me" and this one. For a girl of 410 she made being short awesome. Such an incredible singer amazing band PERIOD. THEY'RE MY LIFE. LOVE YOU FLY LEAF🥰 LOVE CHRISTINA THANK YOU FOR FLY LEAF LORD.
Émilie Boisclair me too but she’s really happy with her family and much blessings for her family and her life :) sucks I never got to see her perform But it’s ok .
People age and change and have to move on with their life for better or worse. I like Lacey the way she is now as much as I liked her back then. Both cases are her in different times of her life and her art is clean and beautiful.
Denden Lacey is still performing. check out the album 'Life Screams' by Lacey Sturm. plus she still performs some Flyleaf songs. the guys aren't with her but the guys backing her up now are pretty talented and awesome and the lead guitarist is her husband Josh.
Lacey was one of the BEST vocalist in rock/metal dude, her unique sound, power, and range put her in a league of her own and her screams were just perfect! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Me too. Have been since I was 12. I fell in love with my husband because he has met her many times and she sang in his youth church band a few times when he was 15
Anyone else random rec this in 2024+? As a 90s kid, I got to appreciate this song when it came out and was popular on the radio and in movies, it wasnt until years later I appreciated it more learning how much effort goes into practicing being able to scream at those levels and then immediately go back to a singing voice without strain. The seamless ability to transition so quickly from those is truly amazing.
she performs so beautifully. dont usually enjoy screaming as much as i love hers. her vocal range is super cool and she gives so much energy whilst maintaining amazing vocals
Her screams are on pitch perfect. This girl was truly talented
what scene??

@Kry Kry Stott hahaha

How is everyone in the crowd so chill?? I'd be losing my mind lmao
I would be losing my mind. She has a book out for years now. She's also saved & became a Christian...

Its called genetic luck.
@@muddyriverdogzNot at all. Most people with normal vocal chords can learn to do what she does. Maybe for males not quite as high pitched tho

Patricia Sandell IKR Lacey is amazing but the crowd are like dead but I hope no one is recording it on their phones. Just enjoy the madness.
Well, they are playing in an amphitheatre
I hate when I'm at a show and people are just awkwardly standing. Thats when I have to start a moshpit.

They need another 50 decibels to wake their asses up.
Can you believe that She scream more in live more than album’s , like damn this is the best version for me period !
Kinda sad it took so long to discover them and become a fan

Such a major scream out of such a tiny girl. Freaking love everything of this performance ❤️
I know, seriously! she's 4'11" too. she's still going strong with them vocals too.
Im taller than her and I'm not even tall lmao, I'm 5'2 but then again I'm 14 so
And the scream is amazingly controlled. She uses it as an occasional exclamation mark vs. some singers who sing with the exclamation mark the entire song.
this is the first song i heard with a female scream vocalist...and i LOVE IT!
Andrew Evans check out Kitty. The song ''Brackish"
Check out nemesis arch enemy
check out jinjer - perennial
stormbill whole heartedly agree with you. I also suggest Pisces
I suggest listening to Halestorm. Lizzy Hale screams in several songs (especially in Mayhem).
One of the most underrated bands from the 2000’s. I’m kinda pissed the Christian’s didn’t get behind them like they did with skillet.
Yeah same ... it's a shame . Flyleaf deserves just as much love ❤
Im a Christian and been listing to them for years and didn’t even know they were a Christian band till now💀

THE POWER IN HER VOICE

Young and angry Flyleaf. I love it. Her voice was on point here.
I dare say not angry. Simply really into their music and message.
Seeing them at Sick New World - can’t wait. I’ve always loved them. Her growl and voice omg - might have had a crush when I was younger too.
It's great to see that she can not only sing and scream live, but do so very very well. And her whole vibe was right on too.
Some voices we will just never get again in music

Lacey hands down has the best scream no contest at all. When she screams SHUT UP I die it is perfect💙💙💙
she's my fav female screamer, but she's not the best. There's jinjer
How then hell can she scream like that and make it look almost effortless?
Corey Massie Melissa Cross.
It’s a skill
Have a look at Jinjer - Pisces (Live Sessions)
Because it is effortless. There's a technique rock singers use to "scream" without destroying their vocal cords
@@OrcaStree It does require a lot of lung power and breath control though.
