Glad to see you using the Brawler Ward, not very many builds I see use it. What about the Breaker class mod? Never see that in a build but I've used it twice in my builds and I find it strong
Breaker is incredibly good as long as you get that point in Find Your Center. It's pretty much the only other option for melee builds, and does definitely still hold up. It's just definitely still weaker than a Muse, even with only 1 point into illuminated fist.
Breaker com is my favorite to use with a melee Amara. I've tried the brawler ward but it wasn't my cup of tea. The shield that works best imo is the Elementalist Embers Blaze
Hi. Thanks for your very comprehensive guide. Just a question. Doesn't heavy rain only boost gun splash damage or is the description just poorly worded. Thanks again.
The description is poorly worded, as it is with a lot of skills in this game, though especially Amara's lol. It's just a straight up overall splash damage increase. I'd recommend checking out Lootlemon for more accurate descriptions of skills.
I have a question since the muse got nerfed is it optimal to use the muse as ur main com now, or is it not that efficient since you can only get 2 points in illuminated fist instead of 4?
So the Muse itself didn't actually get retroactively nerfed, meaning any Muse COMs that dropped prior to that fix will still have +3, it's just that it can no longer drop as that. There's still plenty of people around with them and a lotta people are willing to hand them out. If you wanna go that route, feel free to join my discord server. We've usually got people willing to send them out, myself included. As for the actual question, yeah a +1 Muse is still absolutely worth it, however, it's in closer contention vs the Breaker and both can be viable. An extra point in IF is 75% melee damage while an extra point in Find Your Center from the Breaker is 100%, so Breaker will provide more frontloaded melee damage, which aligns with the goal of this build. That being said, 25% more melee damage really isn't *that* big of deal when you have a total % in the hundreds already, and the only other thing the Breaker offers is damage reduction, which isn't that important. The Muse on the other hand provides multi-target damage due to that orb, which with how much damage we can project into that orb, is pretty much a guaranteed kill on whatever it touches. In short, Breaker is *very* slightly more frontloaded damage and survivability while the Muse is *very* slightly less frontloaded damage but allows you to kill 2 enemies per punch, in a way making your damage output more efficient.
I'm interested in how you find mindfulness's recharge delay affect using a roid shield? I kind of thought that vigor might be the better option for movement speed when trying to keep the shield down, since it seems to proc from melee kills as well as phaseslam kills. Just curious if you have more thoughts on why mindfulness is the preferred movement speed skill.
Both work well, but Mindfulness feels like it more consistently is giving me more speed than Vigor. Of course, this depends on Vigor stacks with Vigor having higher potential, but since you're really up in the faces of enemies Mindfulness is almost always stacked as you're almost always taking damage. And since you're always taking damage, your shield recharge delay doesn't matter.
I actually sort of do! Cold Snap is a Kensei Amara build which I've showcased on this channel previously. It's mostly gun/splash damage focused to really abuse Unweave The Rainbow as hard as possible, but because I do spec a few melee skills to get more out of the Kensei damage it actually does work as a pseudo-hybrid build decently well. It's not built to be one and there is probably better options out there, but it could definitely be used as a good starting point.
BL3 has an *incredibly* lax sanity check, as in pretty much none at all. You can easily spawn in and distribute guns with like 8 red texts if you really wanted to. So yeah, you'll be good.
Very good artifact, just doesn't synergize with 300/90 as well as just front-loading damage. I usually still have one in my backpack just in case, but don't usually switch to it for this specific build.
I'd move one point from Anima to infusion, for doubling body and mind with FP. Do you happen to know if eternal fist works with the grenade regen anoint? I was thinking of turning this into a fish slap build
This is a true melee build, though. Facepuncher and Fish Slap are not melee. They are just a gun and grenade that scales off of melee damage i.e not actual melee. Both of those items should have never existed, tbh.

Mayhem 10/11 guarantees anointments. The only way to "legitimately" get a low-level anointed one is to have it drop on m10/11 and save quit without picking it up. Then you'll need a friend to be on Sanctuary and to join their game while on a level 1 character, go to the lost loot, and when it drops out from there it'll be level 1 and anointed. Orb should be doing a lot just as is with a punch, but the most important thing to making it deal raid-boss-exploding damage is the guardian angel and 200% orb damage anointment. If you aren't on mayhem 10/11, that will also be a hit to the potential bullshittery that orb can dump out due to not getting as high of mayhem scaling. Both of those class mods give gun damage, which won't really do much for a true melee build. If you're looking for an alternative to the Muse though, try getting a Breaker with +1 in Find Your Center.
@arachnica_ thank you! The Muse is such a pain to farm & I just got a bunch of Breakers from loot the universe. I can at least equip one of those until I find a decent Muse. I had found a Phasezerker with melee damage so I wasn't sure if that would help.
I actually have one on this save, I just completely forgot to mention it. It's especially good with 150/90 since the DOT scales off the initial hit, so you can get some pretty solid damage out of it.
There's two you might be thinking of. Find Your Center gives extra melee range and is the melee with the arms following your main arm, while Blitz is the one that functions as a dash attack. Both are in Amara's green tree.
As the name implies, this build is focused more on frontloaded damage to abuse 150/90 as best as it can. Unleash The Dragon is an amazing artifact for a lot of melee builds, but it's not always the best.
@@arachnica_Hi I've been doing the exact same thing that you told me to you but I still haven't gotten the 3+ class mod yet and I've been farming for 4 hours now.

@@aazhasdda Yeah orb can be kind of goofy sometimes. It can get stuck in floors and on walls, and doesn't really seem to have a consistent way to avoid it. Sometimes it's better to cast it while in the air to avoid it spawning in the floor, sometimes casting it in the air is what will cause it to stick in the floor. You do want to hit the orb with the Psycho Stabber. When the orb is summoned it has a set base damage that only scales from action skill and splash damage bonuses. When you hit it, it takes in some of the damage dealt to it within that melee hit which then sorta becomes part of the melee damage. Wouldn't Root to Rise be better than Clarity? According to lootlemon, Clarity is based on missing health so it has diminishing returns. I feel like 40% max health is better considering you already have % health recovery form the Ward and form Samsara. Also, you often heal to full because of Ebb and Flow, so I think having higher max health would make better use of that. It also raises the value of Guardian Angel if you do put the one point into it.
I've tried both, and honestly just find that max health increases in endgame feel practically useless and stacking the health regen felt way better, though you are absolutely correct in everything you've said. The problem is just that at endgame, enemies do so much damage that your health bar is pretty much going to be jumping up and down instantly no matter how much HP you have. While you do gain more regen from having higher max hp, I never felt Samsara + Root to Rise was stronger healing than Samsara + Clarity.
Max health isn't as useful since mayhem 10. Many enemies deal enough damage to one shot you either way. The main way survival in endgame functions is through healthgating which is a mechanic where you can't get one shot as long as you're above 50% health and if that threshold get's broken you get immunity for a moment. So the main goal is to get above that threshhold asap. A good survival option especially for flak (as he has no great healing options in his tree) is to use a lucky dice and health regen on artifact or classmod it lowers your max health by 75% and the health regen on gear is absolute value meaning you jump above healthgate very fast.
@@fabianschultz People said the same thing in BL2 and they couldn't be more wrong. Yes, in cases for raid bosses max health is bad (since they take all your health in 1 swing anyway) but in terms of mobbing health stacking is very effective. I've been running a Plus Ultra Stone Amara build and I can't say I share your experience as I can withstand a lot of damage. Abusing health gate is more dangerous in a mobbing environment since you're far more susceptible to getting 2-shot.
@@theobell2002 i found the lucky dice thingy to not be too great as well. For me it depends. I usually don’t struggle too much without and prefer doing more damage or having more regen over max health, but lowering the max health felt bad. I also have 600 spent guardian tokens so theres definitely some help from there. At some point it feels wasted to me
+340 means you already have 100% of your melee damage (which is the base amount for everyone regardless of gear) and you're ADDING 340. It's not a visual bug, you're just bad at math. If you started at 0% melee damage, you would do no damage on melee.
So both are actually incorrect. The card of the Psychostabber is misleading as it gives a x2 multiplier to all melee damage. It has a base 120% melee damage bonus from the item itself with an overall 100% multiplier on top of that. This leads to your melee formula looking like this when using it: ((1 + All your other additive melee bonuses + 120%) x2)
I just started playing this game and picked Amara because of her melee potential. I somehow made my own melee build with skill trees and everything else but I don’t know anything about equipment so I’m going to try your suggestions and see if these work on my build too. As for the actual question, yeah a +1 Muse is still absolutely worth it, however, it's in closer contention vs the Breaker and both can be viable. There's two you might be thinking of. Find Your Center gives extra melee range and is the melee with the arms following your main arm, while Blitz is the one that functions as a dash attack. Both are in Amara's green tree.
Why dont you use the "unleash the dragon" artifact?
As the name implies, this build is focused more on frontloaded damage to abuse 150/90 as best as it can. Unleash The Dragon is an amazing artifact for a lot of melee builds, but it's not always the best.
@@arachnica_ thanks for the explanation.
does anyone know if what he said about getting the +3 illuminated first is still true? I’ve been farming for a while and so far nothing
You have to make sure you load up the game without an internet connection. It should still work since the change never made it into an actual patch.
@@arachnica_ guess I’ve just been unlucky then, either that or airplane mode isn’t enough of a disconnected internet lol, thank you!
@@arachnica_Hi I've been doing the exact same thing that you told me to you but I still haven't gotten the 3+ class mod yet and I've been farming for 4 hours now.
i can send you one if you want. whats your shift?
@@null3rr0rrdo you think you can also be able to send me one?
This build is PC only
I'm not entirely sure what you mean. This should work just as well on console. If you're talking about harder access to the +3 muse, you can still use just a +1 muse or a Find Your Center Breaker instead. If you do want the +3 muse though, there's usually people in my discord (or other borderlands discords, really) willing to send some out.
Phase slam melee dmg and ase melee do not stack I tested this very thoroughly so I would just go for phase slam
After more testing I lied they do stack you just have to have the ase melee on your stabber
is there a reason that when i melee the orb it doesnt fly forward????
it may have just been the area i was trying to use it in for the very first time that it doesnt work in??? idk man, i tried it during killavolt for the first time ever and may have just chosen the one place it doesnt work LOL unlucky
I try to look at it as the balancing factor to what is realistically one of the most busted action skills in the game lol.
@@arachnica_ thats fair, i also noticed the stuck in the floor aspect of it pretty quickly, even without it working properly on killavoltm, him just being in its AOE absolutely MELTED him. it was kind of surprising lmao. im excited to fully check your build out more when i get to 72 and start building it out with your suggested items!
Wait, so do I need to hit the orb with the pscyho stabber to apply the melee damage or does it just scale off your melee damage?
You do want to hit the orb with the Psycho Stabber. When the orb is summoned it has a set base damage that only scales from action skill and splash damage bonuses. When you hit it, it takes in some of the damage dealt to it within that melee hit which then sorta becomes part of the melee damage.
If you're interested in more details about it, I cover it in-depth in this video ruclips.net/video/OAXaJbTvP1I/видео.html
@@arachnica_ thank you king
@@arachnica_ wait so, would a psycho stabber with the orb anoint be best for bossing??
@@Akariszn Generally you want a different anointment on your psychostabber just so it can be better used in the rest of the game, but if you're literally just using it for orb then yeah, you could. I'd recommend getting the orb anointment on a guardian angel though as swapping to that will just give orb even stupider damage.
i straight up cant use this build lmao. cant even take out borman nates for the psycho stabber. i have a face puncher with 200% orb damage and i still die before I can even get a kill skill active 😂
just got a 150/90 psycho stabber and its no better. wtf am i doing wrong. +2 muse, 150/90 psycho stabber, lvl 50 brawler ward, static charge, fish slap grenade, 200% orb damage face puncher. what in the actual fuck else do i need to clear any fucking thing. i literally cant run through pandora without dying instantly and when i do connect a hit it does literally nothing. phaseslam knocks enemies back and does less than 25% of their lifebars. im damn near done with this game dude idk wtf im doing so wrong that i literally cant do basic fucking content
@@yuhboiib9022 Are you using the same skill tree as shown in the video? If not, send me what you are using. You can use this site to input it and then just paste the URL in a reply www.lootlemon.com/class/amara .
Also what level are you and what difficulty are you playing on?
@arachnica_ im using the exact same skill tree. i triple checked and everything is the same. im lvl 72 playing on mayhem 11
@@yuhboiib9022 If you've got gear, anointments, and skills all the same, then I'm honestly at a loss as to what the problem could be outside of piloting the build. Make sure you're activating slam initially when you engage to activate your anointments and such, and then it should be smooth sailing from there.
If you wanna pop in the Discord and send a clip, I could maybe give you some better suggestions. Feel free to @ me if you do.
@arachnica_ im using a phasezerker build rn that can clear pretty much anything but i do wanna try melee amara again so when i respec ill join the discord for some help, thanks brother sorry for the angry rant lmao i just couldn't figure out what i was doing wrong
well I still haven’t seen one of those +3 yet so if anyone gets one and wouldn’t mind helping me out, I’m playing on pc and would appreciate it
Wouldn't Root to Rise be better than Clarity?
At some point it feels wasted to me
My dad be using the exact same build on me! Its so broken 😡
My grandma didn't stand a chance when I used this build irl
+340 means you already have 100% of your melee damage (which is the base amount for everyone regardless of gear) and you're ADDING 340. It's not a visual bug, you're just bad at math. If you started at 0% melee damage, you would do no damage on melee.
So both are actually incorrect. The card of the Psychostabber is misleading as it gives a x2 multiplier to all melee damage. It has a base 120% melee damage bonus from the item itself with an overall 100% multiplier on top of that. This leads to your melee formula looking like this when using it:
((1 + All your other additive melee bonuses + 120%) x2)
I just started playing this game and picked Amara because of her melee potential. I somehow made my own melee build with skill trees and everything else but I don’t know anything about equipment so I’m going to try your suggestions and see if these work on my build too.
PS: why is Phaseslam so underwhelming ? 💀
Phazeslam is actually rly nice but unfortunately you need to do so much to make it amazing
Phaseslam is mainly used for blue tree remnant procs against high hp bosses
