Great video! For anyone else that picked up this exact Midea freezer from Costco and is looking to organize it; there are videos out there of people using the blue 6 gallon recycle bins from The Container Store. Well, I tried them and those blue bins don't fit in this freezer side by side. I'm going to try these Ikea containers next. OP, thanks for posting the video and answering so many questions!
Thank you for adding that tip for everyone that watches this, I am glad this video is helping people out and I appreciate the likes(thumsup) and subscribers to this channel really helps this video get out to many others that like me, spent too much time and money trying to figure something out for this. Granted I could just throw stuff in there and be done with it BUT some of us weirdos just like things a bit too organized, anything else drives me crazy LOL.
Why didn't the 6 gal. blue bins work? They didn't fit in somehow?

But like this guy said it works best for him. It will work best for me also with a twist. I Ordered my ikea containers before I ordered my freezer. Freezer arrived today December 9th 2020. Ikea will be here tomorrow December 10th 2020. I went with 8 3 gallon bins because I am disabled and those 6 gallon bins would be a challenge for me full of frozen food. His idea to me is the best thus far and I'm glad he shared it with us..👍👍👍

I don't comment on videos often. You saved me lots of headaches by taking the time to put this video together.
My parents are 90 and 85. I was worried about buying them a chest freezer due to typically having to sift threw food that quite frankly can sometimes take a crane operator to get access to the bottom.
Not only are they able to get to all of the food at the bottom, you created a new job for my mom which is now rooted in organizing meats, veggies and other condiments, writing expiration dates on the magnetic whiteboard, and keeping it all color coordinated. 🤣😂

I am so glad it helped....i watched hours of youtube trying to find a better solution than those blue recycle bins and nothing. That idea bulb blinded me once i saw these bins at ikea and im glad its helping others make their life easier.
Keeping food in closed containers inside the freezer reduces the frost that forms on the food. It seems to stay in better frozen condition when it is enclosed. Nice well made video. Thanks

thank you for that, I truly felt the same way, i spent hours looking up a way to organize my freezer and it was all the same recycle bin videos on you tube. I saw these at ikea and a lightbulb went off, once i used them and saw how it was as if they were meant for this i decided to make a video. This was my very first video on here and just felt i had to share it since it made my life so much easier. Just did mine like this as you suggested and I love it. It took a month for Ikea to deliver because of the whole quarantine but I'm so glad I finally finished organizing it. So worth the effort because I don't have to keep digging for meat anymore.

Thanks to your video, I felt confident I could organize my freezer. I bought a different 7 cu ft freezer with similar dimension and it worked perfectly. Really glad it helped, as far as cost effectiveness, i have saved way more money than what i spent on freezer and bins, I save tons on buying meats in bulk and now that i can store them it makes life easier as well as keeps me from frequent trips to the store. Thank you for making this video! This video not only helped me to get over my fear of buying a deep chest freezer (because I had a fear that sh!t would be scattered around in it all over the place), it created a mental domino effect where after I took action and organized my freezer just like this video, I got the organization bug to organize a whole lot of in stuff in my home. I’ve now organized my refrigerator, pantry and this weekend I’m organizing all my cabinets. Thax so much for a well thought out organization system and a short but very powerful video that helped me beyond measures.

yep, thats the main reason i didnt like the recycle bins others use ....these are easy to pull out and get what you need without throwing out a hip lol.

I'm going to measure my freezer now and I really hope I can use theses IKEA containers in my chest freezer as well.

I just bought a Frigidaire EFRF7003 7 ft.³ chest freezer. I really like this idea so I went and bought these very same containers in the description and they fit perfectly in that freezer as well. They fit the same as what you see in this video. This is a fantastic idea, so thanks for sharing it!

I went thru the same issues and could not find something that was actually something I saw as working for me, only reason i made video was because i could not believe no one thought of this.......I was walking around ikea for hours trying to come up with something. Happy to save people the time.

This is by far the best freezer organization I've seen and I was almost ready to give up! My chest freezer is a 5 cubic foot which is smaller than yours. I ordered a couple sizes of the smaller bins and based on how they fit, I may order more. Thank you so much!!

I've been searching for a cheap and easy storage solution that makes everything in my chest freezer accessible. This is perfect. Will have to double check measurements of my freezer when I get home, but I think I'm headed to Ikea this weekend!
Glad it was helpful!The great thing about these are the way you can adjust to your needs, some people get 4 6 gallons others get 8 3 gallons and some will put them sideways so there's plenty of ways to make these work. I can't beging to tell you how happy I am that you posted this video. I just bought a new Insignia 7.0 CF chest freezer from Best Buy, and when I did a RUclips search, I found a ton of videos about the 6 gallon blue recycle bins. So I ordered 4 of those. And they didn't fit. Just a half inch too wide. I found your video at 2:00 AM last night. I drove to IKEA this morning and these things fit PERFECTLY. Thank you!

@@JackofAllCarbinc What sucks is I had to drive all the way back to The Contaier Store (30 min from my house) to return the bins that I bought. Then ordered different recycle bins from Amazon (which were more expensive) on Friday evening. Then I saw your vdeo at 2:00 AM (yes, I have no life.) Got up at 10:00 AM and took a drive to IKEA. On the way to IKEA, I get a text that my Amazon order has shipped. So, I need to test fit all the IKEA stuff, and then cancel the Amazon order. I wish I had just seen your video first.
The problem is that the blue recycle bin idea came from Alejandra Costello, and she has a million RUclips subscribers. So, it trickles out all over RUclips and organizing blogs. I gave the video a thumbs up and shared it with a bunch of people. Hopefully it gets some RUclips love and starts showing up in more searches.
Well, I'm off to the grocery store so I can fill the bins!

June '22. I just found your channel and subscribed. I've been looking for our next freezer and love the savings on this freezer (vs upright style) but dislike defrosting chore of box style and having to freezer-dive in searching for food. Like self-defrost convenience of upright freezers, but not the cost to run. Efficiency and lower cost to run chest style freezer won me over ...especially with YOUR ORGANIZATION tips! You can color code like the cutting boards do. Red for red meat, blue for seafood, yellow for chicken, brown for already cooked meats and I plan to do black for my baby’s meats (German shepherd puppy)

@@annabodhi38thank you, i honestly just make them to try and help, i spent tons of time looking for a solution on here and could not find something better than the milk crates and that just did not work for me. Hopefully this saves people the time and headaches of trying to figure out a good solution for these chest freezers since they are not very well layed out. I didnt want all the wasted food from not knowing what was in there and it going bad. Thanks again.

I haven’t thought to use bins instead of baskets, so much neater
I looked for weeks on a way to neatly set up freezer and all i saw on you tube or anywhere else was those recycling bins /baskets....i was constantly looking at items that i can store food in and finally bulb went off as i passed these bins at an ikea.....so glad i have used these and its been over 1 year and have not had any issues so far.
Excellent idea. I'd add that a Food Saver vacuum sealer will save you a lot of money - and enable you to package food in a manner that fits extremely well into the bins. Food Saver is a very good brand - many good reviews. Have had one for 6 years. Just dug out 3-yr-old pork chops that were still tasty! (Put paper towel around bones before bagging and sealing.) Flatten foods as you vacuum, like spaghetti sauce, chili, ground beef, etc, to be about 1" thick, then 'file' upright. Many other 'non-food' uses too - especially for preppers and campers.
You are absolutely right...i ended up getting a food saver from costco about 2 months later and that has been perfect to make things fit perfectly in these bins, it also saves you a good chunk of money since we buy the bigger bulk meats and cut them down to fit in bins,. You would be surprised how much cheaper the bigger bulk pieces of meat save you.
