An appliance repairman told me, when my deep freeze died, that the whole "energy savings" ratings was actually what lead to these freezers lasting fewer years than before. Manufacturers started putting smaller motors/compressors in larger freezers. While it did save energy (they added more insulation as this fellow mentioned),it led to a higher strain on the motor/compressor, this lowering the overall longevity. So we deal with more of these huge boxes in our landfills and saving around $20 a year in energy costs. We also have to remember the recycling process (hopefully there is one) takes energy, as well. So, bring back the deep freezer that lasted 25 years. I'd rather pay a little more and keep the extra one or two deep freeze chests out of the landfill, than the $20 extra bucks in my pocket each year.
This is wonderful information as I've been interested in purchasing a chest freezer but also, your voice is lovely and pleasant to listen to. Thank you!
Keep spacers or a wire rack between the floor of freezer so if your box frosts over left open and or just heat from opening over the years your food items and cardboard doesn't stick to sale it is a pain to clean ....best way and fastest way to clean is fill with water and scrub pull drain plug you can get done in 30 minutes leaving yours frozen goods still frozen as you put them back plastic milk crates are amazing if they fit
Speaking about size... I'd like a 7 cubic on sale, but a 5 would fit better in the cubby in the kitchen. This will sound nuts, but, I'm thinking to place it (the larger one) right "beside" the kitchen. I have carpeting, but there's got to be some kind of metal tray to put under it to protect carpet. What do you think or suggest? Can I do this?
I did get some tingles from his voice. And yet it is a more high nasal sound than would usually do for me. So I'm thinking his voice must have an underlying frequency that resonates nicely.
My refrigerator freezer was small. I couldn't close it . I hated when the freezer wouldn't close. The chest is a charm. I have room for ice cream and extra meat and freeze pops for the kids during the summer, now I have a piece of mind when shopping for groceries for the freezer.
yes, I love that about my chest freezer I like mine to have an icecream maker and I want to make loads of healthy icecream .I also want it to fit my turkey in. Chest freezer is so versatile.
I need to create a vehicle that can transport/deliver ice cream; can I put a chest freezer in a van or similar vehicle for this purpose? My main concerns have to do with vibration damage (during transit) and power requirements. great presentation. thank you.
Because of the pandemic, I have had to buy what was available. I had a large beef order and needed it, because my old old freezer failed. Now I have a non-garage ready one in my sun room that is not heated. I am using a space heater when temps are under 55F. Is there anything that I can install on freezer to make it garage ready or is there any solution to this?
Weight is also another issue, As a woman I want an chest freezer that is easy to move and you get can much lighter ones. I bought my chest freezer for 149 from Currys and it has enough space. But yes, it is Energy F which isn't great but the other ones were too heavy or they didn't have enough space.
Are the Smeg, Zanussi, VestFrost freezers good? Looking for a 200l-300l chest freezer for my dog’s raw food that has an incredibly good seal so that it’s quite difficult to open
Hi, There isn't a huge difference between most of these brands as they are all decent brands to choose from. It may be worth trying to pick one that has a lock on it which some of the higher end models have.
From past experience I would have to say that a chest freezer beats an upright 10 to 1 any day. My current chest freezer is a Sterling model bought from Aldi about 2015.....in all that time I only defrosted it once and that was a month ago when I opened it to get something out and a mouse fell down into it from the shelf above it so out all of the stuff came to get the mouse out and relocate it to the garden.....that was a good time to defrost it and there was so little frost build up it only took 10 minutes compared to my 40 year old (1981) Electrolux upright freezer that takes 1/2 a day to defrost at 3 month intervals............never again will I have an upright freezer or a fridge with an ice box..
can i put the freezer in the courtyard (with roof) well in summer time it is very hot and humid due to all the a/c going on from my next door neighbours (on both side), therefore the temp. out there is quite hot; so can i put a freezer out there ? please advise thank you very much.
Personally, I prefer side-by-side. This allows you to separate items into most-used and least-used in both the fridge and freezer compartments. It also prevents the freezer from turning into a frozen mass of jumbled items that can’t be individually located or (if it gets bad enough) separated from each other. The main downside of this configuration is that it’s difficult to fit really large items into either side. For me, this is rarely a problem. But if you want to be able to place an entire cookie sheet or several 25-lb turkeys into either side, you may want to opt for a different configuration.
Really depending on the space you have to start with but if you have 60cm gap, then fridge top and freezer bottom, 90cm gap then side by side or 120cm gap then ideally you would want a separate fridge and freezer. This is normally a better option than having them together as you get more space in them apart and if one goes wrong you only lose the food in 1 unit.
It can affect the performance of it it the hole is left. Not really sure they can be repaired but i know a customer used some silver foil tape to repair a freezer recently and it seems to have worked.
The kids pinching all the ice-cream? I'm worried about my wife pinching all the ice-cream. Then again, she's worried about me pinching all the ice-cream so maybe I need a double lock.
On the whole with any refrigeration appliance, if you have a leak then it is not really worth getting repaired, as there are very few refrigeration engineers around that want to repair products
We normally find the brands like bosch neff Siemens and liebherr to be very reliable from our experience. On the whole the cheaper brands like beko are not as reliable and can actually end up costing you more in the long run by keep buying lots of cheap machines rather than 1 good reliable one
Cud u please help me. I bought a new capital Midas Commercial freezer and in the middle of the freezer there a ice about 12" on all four walls of the freezer. Do u think it is normal as the company I bought it from says it is normal. But to me it is not as I have another freezer same make 8 yrs. old but got clean walls. Please let me know asap God bless you always!
Must admit i haven't heard of the brand before, it is not really in the UK market, so sorry i wouldn't be able to give any feedback on how the products are.
If the appliance is kept on its side, then yes this is true, but if its kept upright then it should really be left for around 3-4 hours to let the compressor settle before you switch it on, not wouldn't normally need to leave it 24 hours

Interesting!!! I’m starting to see points like this.
1. Dimensions/space
2. Inernal capacity
3. Energy rating
4. Outdoor use/warranty
5. Baskets & layers
6. Interior light
7. Open door warning
8. Ease of defrost
9. Door lock
10. Price
Thanks for this list!
Door lock how please?
Not all have a manual temperature setting
Thanks

Is there a unit with all the bells and whistles you mention here that you can recommend?

Amazing , very helpful video .

Solar panel with car battery and power inverter can run this freezer?

Hi, There isn't a huge difference between most of these brands as they are all decent brands to choose from. It may be worth trying to pick one that has a lock on it which some of the higher end models have.
Some freezers have a plastic interior, others have metal. Is that something to consider as well and does one have an advantage over the other?
Most are going for metal interiors now, i think just for strength, i wouldn't have throught there is an advantage of one over the other
Thanks! That was helpful!

Thanks 👍
Here in the US there are no chest freezers in stock since early March. You having issues keeping them in stock in the UK?
Yes we have had shortages since march as well. It is only the last 10 days that we are starting to see much better stock availability
Which one has less electricity consuming deep freezer?
Which is best for long run? Aluminum inner sides or fiber sheet inner side?? Like in this freezer inner side is aluminum.
I would assume it would be better to have aluminium inside as it should last a lot longer to protect against rust and corrosion
Thank you
Great info. Now if I can only find one here in the USA. Been looking for months.
Great video , Can you power water down the drain to remove any blockage
In theory you can but it shouldn't get that blocked up
Very helpful

In theory it should work ok but the freezer will have to work a lot harder which can shorten the life of the product.
@@lords-electrical Thank you !!!
I have a 5 cu ft chest freezer i want to put in my garage but it gets cold in the winter since its not heated. Would it be ok to have it in there?
What is the best freezer fridge combo, side by side or top and bottom?
Personally, I prefer side-by-side. This allows you to separate items into most-used and least-used in both the fridge and freezer compartments. It also prevents the freezer from turning into a frozen mass of jumbled items that can’t be individually located or (if it gets bad enough) separated from each other.

How well do the ADT chest freezers work?
Unfortunately we haven't stocked the ADT chest freezer or had any experience of them, so it's not really fair of me to comment on these.
Very informative .... what about frost free ?
yes frost free is a consideration in freezers but chest freezers are normally manual defrost only
The kids pinching all the ice-cream? I'm worried about my wife pinching all the ice-cream. Then again, she's worried about me pinching all the ice-cream so maybe I need a double lock.
I have the same problem in my house 😁
why do the smaller and cheaper ones have aluminum interior walls and the more expensive ones have plastic interior lining?
Not too sure, but we find the metal linings are normally better and stronger than the models with plastic interiors.
Nice

Lords Electrical, if that's the cost to run that freezer for a day I'll buy else where!!
