He has to prove be can play well in a playoff game. He did fine at home (vs. GB, essentially the 1st playoff game), was terrible on the road (against Detroit), but he gets one more chance next week.
They can win if the o-line can do a better job this week than they did last week. Hopefully he can get his confidence back but he didn't play great against the Rams the last time he threw some really bad passes like he did against Detroit, but they were in the game until the end..
If the Vikings move on from Sam darnold, I do not see JJ accomplishing a 14-win season in the next 5 years, but I could see Sam repeating and doing it again next year. All the GM wannabes complaining about the draft, rookies are always a gamble, free agents have a professional resume, I would rather build through free agency than rookie class any day
darnold COULD pull a Steve young. Young was a#1 pick bust for 7 years, then resurrected his career at 31 with 49ers and became a HOFer. There IS a precedent. Who knows. Come on sam!!!
Ironically the Vikings could finish the season losing four games in the same manner! Lose to the Lions, then the Rams, rinse and repeat again! I think they can beat the Rams AND the Lions now if they focus on their tasks. JJ, Addison and TJ will score four TDs and the RBs will get one more, with five total TDs to win the game.
Matthew comment at 14:29 could be seen as a casual one “don’t have many draft picks to lean on”. AMEN from the heavens. Not a KAM hate take but his way below average draft success is coming home to roost. The inside straight he drew with 2024 FA class will not be repeated. Draft classes create a foundation that lasts for a successful team. A FA class fills in a gap or 2, not 7 or 8. This is a massive playoff to take advantage of a magical year. Easy schedule, void of injuries, Darnold renaissance, random big uptick of plus turnover margin. 2025 is likely to regress ; not being SKOL negative, just realistic. KAM needs to hit draft big time for next few years or this JJMC, Jets, Darrisaw SB window is going to crash badly. Leading NFC teams-Eagles and Lions-killed it in draft. Mahomes is a god but they don’t winner SB 2 years ago without that rookie class ; Ravens are legendary about draft reloads. Vikings need total reboot in their college scouting team.
It's still possible McCarthy and Turner both end up being total studs, and I think Reichard will be a solid kicker for many years. Kwesi has been making up for it in FA, hopefully they correct some of the disturbing things from the last game. Develop more short routes, screens, go 5 wide to attack a blitz, quick hitters, slants, more from the running game, better passes from Sam, and have to stop a RB like Gibbs.
@ I am not hating on KAM, nor am I wanting to re litigate his first draft. He has been remarkable in FA and cap management. Time will tell in Turner and JJMC. Huge Michigan fan - high hopes for him. Hard for me to not see Lions and Eagles and how they were built and not feel some envy. I will never lose the belief that you can’t build a long term franchise in FA solely. KAM and his team need next 3 years to mirror his FA success
I know I was thinking the same thing. Like you know the Vikings lost to them right!!? And they weren't even as good as they started to be to that point.
The sample size for Sam is so small. Sam was only responsible for the Vikings 9 game win streak if you count the back to back 2 and 3 interception games against Colts and Jaguars. He wasn't great in Titans game that followed either, It really wasn't until the six games before LIons game (Bears, Cardinals, Falcons, Bears, Seahawks, Packers) that he really started to impress,
Nah he’s toast so that’s just great the quarterback and the kicker getting the yips at the very worse time. Can’t wait for the kid taking the snaps next year he’s got zen not insecurity
Vikings 27- Rams 17 been a fun exciting year. Been a Viking fan for 54 yrs. If this is the end the future still looks bright.
There has to be something to last week . Sam Winning 14 wins is not a fluke. Sam doesn’t have to prove himself. He has to play well.

Darnold will have a nice comeback, over 300 yards passing. Skol.

Or the Vikings can win the next 4 games, and it will become the greatest Vikings' season ever.

Calling the Rams one of the weakest teams in the playoffs will age well... what does that make the Sam Darnold Vikings?

Can't get any worse lol... he stunk it up bad! I
Saw he had that in him tho. If the oline plays as it should, he has no excuse this time!

Until we start winning in the draft on a consistent basis we're cooked.
Lose for the draft we're going no we
the vikings ain't shit never going to win ever
