I grew up with “The Bells” Dennis Will piano background vocals my father! As much as everyone else loves “Stay Awhile “ and “Fly Little White Dove” this is my absolute favorite bells song. I also loved the 8 track version of Studio A album “Whole lot of Shakin going on “ from back in the day.
I have been haunted by this song for 38 years... "Nobody knows the truth - he said, Not til the book has all been read follow the one you love instaed of the road..." F'n brilliant!!!!!!
The Bells had the most beautiful music to relax to. Thank you for posting these wonderful videos. They are much appreciated by a fellow Canadian fan.🇨🇦❤😀
For those who asked, there is a cd called "The Best of The Bells". I ordered it online a couple of years ago, can't remember exactly where at this point....however if anyone wants I can e-mail individual tracks from the cd.
I think this is one of the best song by the Bells. This song is difficult to find. I only once saw it on a CD in a public library, but nowhere I can find it again anywhere. Even Spotify, Tidal do not carry this song.. Glad that it is on youtube.
Another classic K-Tel album song. A beautiful sad song...a little haunting too as another member said. When she sings "Ain't it cold enough today, so let it rain,"..almost brings a tear to my eyes, so pretty.
Beautiful Song ! I've been looking for this song for years ! There's no need to know the true meaning of this song but use your imagination I this song !
He was me, he was you, Maybe someone that you knew, There goes everybody's brother, what's his name, Walk on by, Pay no mind, Heartbreaks happen all the time, Ain't it cold enough today, so let it rain,
I remembered the tune in my head, couldn't forget it, and I remembered the line, "ain't it cold enough today so let it rain" in the refrain. So I googled it, and there it was,
Always loved this song used to pass the Canadian bank on water street in St Johns but never really understood what it a effect it would have in later life
(2 x chorus) He was me, he was you, Maybe someone that you knew, There goes everybody's brother what's his name, Walk on by, Pay no mind, Heartbreaks happen all the time, Ain't it cold enough today, so let it rain..., Ain't it cold enough today, let it rain, Ain't it cold enough today..., so let it rain..., .. :} ♡♡♡♡♡
This is one of my favorite song that I haven't searching for a while Luckily I found an All Singer CD a couple of years ago in a public library with it. The melody is very sweet and the lyrics is well written. I just wonder why Bells vanished all these years, despite that there were a few very good song like this and like Stay Awhile.
your lyrics are a little off... i have the album "the Bells - Pisces Rising" this song is on the album. inside are the lyrics.. Its not "watching the shadows breathe and dance"... it's "Weave and Dance"
The Bells/ The Five Belles He Was Me He Was You/Child Of Mine The little man was hungry, and they saw him as a tramp, With a love note in his pocket, but no money for a stamp, He just sits there in the doorway and he sings his lonely song, Mumbling the cold out of his hands, Watching the shadows breathe and dance, Smiling, but in his eyes the chances are gone.... ,
“TheBells”-The Best of the Bells was released in 2004 on CD they had many albums late 60’s 70’s. They split when Cliff wanted to try TV. There is a documentary about the group called “Stay Awhile”
The painter tries to paint him, And the poet, he tries to see, I think he had a castle, in the man he used to be, He just stuck to us a question, Can you tell me what you've learned, Nobody knows the truth he said, Not till the book has all been read, Follow the one you love, instead of the road,
I LOVE THIS SONG!..............somebody has posted on-line what they believe this song is all about............i dont know if it is right or not but it is interesting...........it can be found at "maxine sharon oneill nzoz1983" and press "see all" to find the comments. regards fans.
Interesting thought (Is this song about Jesus?) - I think it may be that and more but JC could be another prophet ignored by those walking by. I too have been listening to this song from close to 40 years - never really looked at that angle - it always seemed more of a statement of the human condition and human nature.
呢首歌我讀小學六年班時,己經好中意聽。我而家到60多歲聽番,一樣百聽不厭。好嘢,冇得頂。路發❤❤❤
Another under rated group out of Canada. Yea it's cold enough to snow today.

That is so cool. I used to live near Kenny Tobias' uncle. I'm old enough to remember when these songs were being released.

The Bells/ The Five Belles
He Was Me He Was You/Child Of Mine
The little man was hungry, and they saw him as a tramp,
With a love note in his pocket, but no money for a stamp,
He just sits there in the doorway and he sings his lonely song,
Mumbling the cold out of his hands,
Watching the shadows breathe and dance,
Smiling, but in his eyes the chances are gone.... ,
When this was recorded they were “The Bells”
I don't know why this Canadian group recorded only a handful of songs and then vanished? Did they ever release a CD?
“TheBells”-The Best of the Bells was released in 2004 on CD they had many albums late 60’s 70’s. They split when Cliff wanted to try TV. There is a documentary about the group called “Stay Awhile”
The painter tries to paint him,
And the poet, he tries to see,
I think he had a castle, in the man he used to be,
He just stuck to us a question,
Can you tell me what you've learned,
Nobody knows the truth he said,
Not till the book has all been read,
Follow the one you love, instead of the road,
...weave and dance,
...leap and dance
@rdvqc
"Emanuel" they said, "God is inside you"
That's why he was me he was you
正正正正正!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When this was a hit, I was just a teenager.
@hayleydisca
I thought she sings "let it rain" the british way, like "let i train"?
anyone know the meaning of this song? :/
anyone knows if there is an actual video of this?
"he just stopped to ask a question"

Is this song about Jesus?
人類和平
之後
動物有難
這常態是常理
人類沒空閒
其他命安穩
人類悠悠閒
萬物苦難矣
