On the notice board in White Orchard you’ll find the very first contract of The Witcher 3, named Devil by the Well. This optional contract carries a deep emotional story which ties in closely with the history of White Orchard and its inhabitants.
As many clues and details can easily be missed while embarking on this quest, most players miss out on the deep lore that’s been weaved into the events.

I loved that quest, thought it was a great introduction to the witcher 3, and I wasn't expecting it to go in that direction
The game has so much lore and history weaved into the world and quests, so much can easily be missed. Immersion is incredible. This is why its still played today and will stil be playerd years from now. Masterpiece. 💯
Finished this game and the expansions a couple months ago. Loved this game to death. At some point I felt like a witcher cuz with each contract, I eventually was able to figure out what I was hunting without encountering it yet! This game is AMAZING!
I completely agree, the immersion is still unparalleled. We need more expansion! 💯
@@GamerGrade I heard news that another expansion was gonna be made a while back. It's going to be inspired by the Netflix series.
@@smoothsavage2870 Ahh yes i think thats the next-gen update, which will include a Henri Cavill inspired outfit, as well as a graphcis overhaul. This should be out by December. Cant wait!
@@GamerGrade Watched your video just a day after I did this quest ( during my first full 3o h of playing this game- my second game ever)
I'm a baby player, completely new to gaming - Hogwarts Legacy 2 full games was my first ever experience: I had no issues with Wandering in the Dark, even if I did "grind" quite a bit (maybe half an hour or so) once or twice during it (finding i had to jump then dive, then, the Golem fight).
After it, I think I did probably all quests available related to Keira, the Island, her delivery, the Island again (not sleeping with her, but worrying about her "experiments" quite a bit..).
In the end, I think I avoided a fight and used diplomacy: she gave me the Alexander research back and is now probably on her way to the Witchers Ker for the winter.
Not a bad result for a first time player, as a baby gamer?
It was also mixed with other quests I did find difficult, horrific and at times, boring (playing hide and seek. ...): The 3 Crones full quest (for this early game part I guess), and playing as Cirry to escape the swamp (but with no runes etc, found it hard at first).
Now, I have to go back to finally do the Bloody Baron one, because Kiera and the Crones brought me to Level 16 (first 24h or maybe 3o of playing the game- in one go: I had to get some sleep finally, before speaking to the Baron tonight, to begin my second day).
Oh, and I also killed the Lady (?), the Tree's Heart (+werewolf wandering near), having no idea that doing so would seal the orphans fate- yet also glad I did, after watching a video tonight explaining which Evil could have been unleashed if I had spared that Druid.
Even if ignorant of the consequences, I did not trust that thing one bit, and I still think I made the best choice available, over all (even if I was devastated back at the Crones, when I understood the kids were gone...)
Your videos ( about general tips+ mutagens)did accompany my diner and were the only pause I took during my first play time, so thanks.
I might have to care about getting some nice gear tonight, the Serpentine Swords probably, and some Griffon's gear? We'll see🎋

@@GamerGrade , as an almost completely new baby gamer and only one (very long, around 3oh) day of playing Witcher 3, I'd have to say, I agree.
I will probably spend the next months or two playing this game +the extensions, and if addicted (which will probably happen...), even try the Game + for a while...
Ps: I can't wait for an Hogwarts Legacy DLC hopefully next year 🎋

@@GamerGrade , I did a mistake on the level though, mixing my third Hogwarts Legacy skin and my Witcher first, it's only 1o, well, 11 by now 🎋
And I checked the time, on the game, it's was 25h after my first playthrough, I'm in the middle of the second, soon heading back to the swamp to help the Baron find his wife...got a bad feeling, I quite like that bloody baron!
We're close now that we buried his child, and that I know everything about his family affairs!
Then, to Novigrad, finally meeting Triss, selling all these books and those weird currencies.
I did get my ass handed to me by Jenny of the Well though...found a new sword right after quitting that quest for now- and I won't go back to check just right now !

Hey Jay on this re2 remake have I said anything about MR X one of video playthroughs said something about busting MR X with the minigun or 200 rounds of rockets have you any knowledge of this I do watch these things for interest
Unfortunately i dont have any knowledge of this. When i was playing, i thought Mr.X was invincible, but that may not be the case!
9:10 how/where do i get "spectre oil"? i keep on dying :(( but maybe it's because i use the "ghost mode" and the "story and sword" difficulty level, idk...
Maybe try disabling Ghost Mode and see if that helps?
Also, all Alchemy formulas can be found randomly in chests and containers during exploration. Also make sure to check stocks of Alchemists who may also sell them. 👍
Also check your Alchemy menu, to see if you've already pcied it up and can already craft it?
@@GamerGrade I've realized that the recipe for oils (and other things too) is different in Ghost mode than in the default/vanilla game... So in the end, I had to find a specific monster and kill several of them until I could get the ingredient I needed. Anyway, I lowered the game difficulty and managed to kill that boss without the specter oil. I heard Ghost Mode was great to use but it changes the game a lot and makes it maybe more difficult for beginners :( But I will try to keep it because now I'm afraid I will have more issues with my save file if I remove GM and continue to play. They say it's better to start the game from the beginning when installing GhostMode, so yeah... too late for me now, I don't want to play everything again. Thanks for your help anyway! 👍

I tried in vain to find a mod that could display the active buffs not only with green icons but with text and timers as well like I've seen in your "ultimate beginners guide" video. Hey is that one of the steel swords I told you about in you’re last video? If it is its probably the 3rd best sword in the game hey mate I have a unique challenge for you here it is craft or find the only swords in the game THAT ARE from the books as it’s a next to impossible task I’ll give you 3 clues too 3 off the top of my head from the books
1. Zolton gives you this sword it’s from the Baptist of fire it’s too help geralt with a certain task when he try’s too give it back too Zolton he says to keep as it’s a gift
2. A mage gives you this sword . In the game in a quest the ugly baby when Yenna asked you too tell her a story if you pick the one with dandelion brought me a sword ( set 6 months after the last wish and just befor a grain of truth this is when he is on the way too see the lioness AKA CIRIS grandmother for the matter of price Setting everything in motion) well he will tell you about his swords been stolen and getting sold at the auction house there is also a mention to this in the quest Open Sesame and the fight with the 3 Brothers in dead man’s party with a fence post or slate is a reference from here too.
3. A mercenary or Bounty Hunter has this made or modified heavily for you due too it throwing you off balance in a fight against him it’s an incredibly unique blade and ultimately leads too that mercenary or bounty hunters downfall . There are many more but good luck

Thats a tough challenege as unfortunatly i have not read the books (yet!), they are actually sitting on my shelf so this gives me the perfect excuse.
