Britt Yes… IWC!!! But the amg ingenieur and petronas amg quick release turquoise strap is awesome and the watch incredible!! Maybe you need to borrow it to have some time to appreciate it… Let me know if you do ….
Portugieser all they way! That is their most iconic design. The historically large watch navigates perfectly between dress and casual. Wear it with jeans or dinner jacket. The Pilot is a generic design manufatured by many other companies. Stowa, Laco and others have the flieger aesthetics as well. Not that you can’t have a watch from the Pilot line in your top 5, but 4 is overkill.😂
What do you find most appealing about them? I like them, but wouldn’t spend over $3k for one in terms of value. It’s got the field look of Hamilton and the legibility of Sinn. Granted the quality is noticeably better than both those brands, but $5 grand minimum for an IWC always seemed insane for what you get.
@@stocksxbondage I just love the designs, the brand, they are not flashy. Since I've owned my iwc mark 18, I have sold my other watches, including rolex op, omega seamaster and Tudor bb58. I wouldn't wear anything else now. I don't buy watches for resale etc, I buy because I like the watch, I haven't worn anything else for the past 2 years, I could happily wear the iwc for another 5 years.
@@coffeeboyclips1973 gotcha. You’ve just gotta connect with it. They look great, I just wish minimalism, or removing details, to avoid flashiness didn’t come at a premium. I’d expect the opposite. I understand it’s art, so it’s not about functional value, but even as overpriced Rolex is, a GMT Master II is as much as an IWC Big Pilot with only a day of the week complication. Without IWC being better the others at something specific, Idk if I’ll ever justify the purchase for myself but I’ll gladly admire from afar! Thanks for explaining your thoughts though. I know little about IWC other than people love them and they’re expensive.
But top gun is not a reference to the movie top gun. It’s a reference to the navy fighter school program. Also, what are your thoughts about the Big Pilot?
Lots of Navy squadrons order custom chronographs with their patch on the 6 o’clock sub dial and call signs on the case back. IWC has a great relationship with Naval Aviation
I like IWC, but I’ve heard their in calibres are CRIMINALLY INACCURATE given the price point. Any Mark XX owners wish to state their watches daily mean accuracy?
@@mendipfox1650 yeah its not bad. My AD does also regulate the movement for free if you buy it from them so if it had been worse i've would have made them do it. They are certified IWC servicecenter
Imagine spending so much on a plain pilot’s watch and then the date wheel being 3 inches away from the edge of the dial. It looks so under-designed to me. Hit me up with a Laco or Stowa and change.
@@BrittPearceWatches ⁉️ Not even a mention of the iconic Aquatimer and let's not forget they build the Porsche Ocean 2000 that's harsh. And also as French my ears are bleeding the way you said Ingénieur 😱
IWC is shadow of itself. Over a decade ago, IWC made robust tool watches and unique designs…they offer little to no value and their movements are less than stellar. I’ve owned numerous, including BP’s, aquatimers, etc. The most reliable movements were their slightly modified ETA’s
I recently picked up an IWC Portugieser Chrono in Grey w/the gold case and I'm OBSESSED with it. It's probably the prettiest watch I've ever seen.
Having Top Gun written on the dial is Mission Impossible for me 😂
It doesn’t have.
Ok, how did you not pick the new pilot watch 41 green dial??!!
👍 Loved the detailed review on IWC watches!

Yup, Portugieser....I agree. F.A. Jones for example.
❤❤❤The ingeniuer ❤❤❤
Iwc is my favourite brand, they make the best looking watches imo

Yes to all except the black top gun watch. I’d switch that to a Portuguese
While I agree iwc=pilot watches, what do you think of the Portugieser and portofinos?
BOTH VERY UNDERRATED! 😍 (and they remain underrated because silly RUclipsrs like me don’t talk about them enough!)
Im beginning to appreciate the portugieser more these days, they look so friggin elegant and makes for perfect dress watches for bigger wristed people
Britt, are you running a temperature?
Why
I don't think so.... ;)?
😂

That’s really cool. Makes me think I should get one for my dad someday
The one's I saw the patch was at the 9 O clock position
@@almac9203 I was referring to the tophatters and blue angels models they made available in the last couple years. Where’d you see these 9’s?
IWC’s catalog: Flieger Type-A and some other thing
Portugieser IW500705 is my favourite. Quite large on my wrist, but one of my favourite watches from any brand
Oh it’s sooo good. 😍💕😍👏🏻
The pilot chrono is 41 not 42
IWC is way too expensive nowadays 😢

Mine have gained 14 seconds since sundaymorning
@@Bredes1 that’s not too bad then. Within COSC. I’ve heard horror stories of +10 seconds a day. These have stopped me buying the watch unfortunately

But the top gun isn’t from the movie. It’s from the legitimate fighter pilot school
Where’s the big pilot? 🤦♂️
All pilots watches. Not even a tip of the hat to the Porteguiser!?
Portugieser: I simply don't exist
No Portugieser? No Portofino? Four Pilots and and Ingy. Meh. You can pick better. :-(
I think IWC Top Gun is not really a collaboration with the movie franchise.
That’s a lot of pilots watches!
