@@JDRod88 It definitely looks like it a little, though I will say I dislike the Nautilus but like this Mido, so not sure what it's doing different, but it's something I like.
My personal ranking of diving watches. 1st place Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date 2nd place Tudor Black Bay "Masterchronometer" 3rd place Rolex Submariner 4th place OMEGA Seamaster 300 "Summerblue" The reasons are simple. The SeaQ has an incredibly high proportion of handwork in a loving process of intensive checking of the watch that lasts almost a month before it goes on sale. The Submariner is technically and in terms of manufacturing quality equivalent and even cheaper and even has a slightly more sophisticated movement that can meet the in-house superlative chronometer standard. That IS unique. Nevertheless, I put the Black Bay in second place between the SeaQ and the Submariner because the Tudor can offer an unbeatable, unique price in addition to its classic design, very good quality and a guarantee to meet META certification. The Seamaster 300 also comes in a classic design, has the 8912 from the top line 89XX, is METAS-certified, but ultimately cannot compete with the SeaQ or the Seamaster 300 in terms of manufacturing quality and unfortunately does not compare well to Tudor due to its high price. In the end, you can't go wrong with any of the four watches. All four watches are perfect for diving, are very durable, run very accurately and will give you a lifetime of pleasure. There is only one mistake you can make when buying a watch. If there is a watch you want, no matter which one, then don't buy any other one just because the price-performance ratio is better, or because the manufacturer is more famous, or because more craftsmanship went into it. Or or or. Buy the watch that appeals to you most in all attributes, regardless of whether it is one that only costs a few thousand or an expensive one.
Great video as usual. Not sure if I should thank you for getting me started on watch collecting?? Waiting for a large Santos Dumont to come back in stock as we speak .
A great alternative not talked about enough for the Rolex Explorer is the Traska Summiteer. It's got its own unique character, great fit and finish, stellar bracelet, and the best anti-sctrarch coating tech I have ever experienced. All for like $500-600 new.
My wife doesn't wear her Rolex Yachtmaster much (the smaller woman's size from the late 90's) and the Chopard Happy Sport (quartz) has a leather strap...which she cannot wear while swimming. Both are a bit flashy for our travels outside of CH. However, she did see a THORN that I had recently purchased on AliEx (~$200)...which looks to me like a Tudor Black Bay homage; with a high beat PT5000 movement, Titanium case/bracelet (with two button micro adj), Blue dial with Blue ceramic/lumed bezel. I bought it but found the 39mm case a bit too small for my 8 inch wrist. However, as a sport watch for a smaller wrist...fantastic. It did not last long in my watch box. The best part...it has this relatively new tool-less link removal system, which made sizing to her wrist a 3 minute effort. In the process, she also snagged a couple of my 1970's vintage sport watches that I had bought on a local auction site.
I have learned so much from your videos. My love of watches goes way back. I bought a Wittnauer 2000 in 1972 on my honeymoon. I still have it. It was 85 dollars, more than a week’s pay back then. I have added Doxa, Omega, Seiko,Timex, Casio and even a Dudley Masonic pocket watch. Now I’m addicted to moonswatch. I was just going to get one and now I have eight. You continue to peak my interest in watches of all kinds. Your down to earth reviews are fun and informative. Looking forward to the next review. Outstanding job!
Generally a good list, but I think you missed the Mido TV Big Date as Patek alternative and while I like basically every GS GMT, I think there were better (closer to the original or just overall better specs) alternatives to the GMT II. Oh, and of course the Black Bay GMT, but I get it, as this isn’t a „Tudor alternatives to Rolex“-video
My preference over the Rolex Submariner is my Omega Seamaster Titanium Bond watch ‘No time to Die’, it’s super light and very attractive, it’s also attainable 😉
This is the first actual recommendation I’ve seen for the 50 Fathoms. It always feels like that watch everyone says you should buy, but nobody actual buys.
Baume et Mercier Riveria is a top alternative for the integrated sports watch style, very much overlooked. Maurice Lacroix Aikon is a "budget" option also to be considered, produced in some pretty funky colourways also. Affordable options to the Nautilus ?.......potentially :)
Top list! About the alternatives of Nautilus, I'd love to hear your opinion about the Concorde model manufactured by Pequignet. Your choices of Laurent Ferrier and the Bell & Ross made me think of it, so would you consider this watch?
Love the video. Honestly Tissot has great Diver with the Seastar, a great Integrated sport watch with the PRX and the Tissot Gentleman could be a Rolex explorer alternative as well. Great brand. Seiko and Christopher Ward also have great watches in those 3 styles and more.
Two excellent alternatives for Patek: Formex Essence 39/Leggera/43 and Frederique Constant Highlife. The Highlife could be seen as a mid range alternative as well
Thanks for the review Britt! How about the Maen Manhattan for the Nautilus? Also, I'd go with one of the recent Citizen integrated watches (e.g., Tsuyosa or Zenshin) over the PRX.
Britt I love the Hamilton field watches...! I actually have two (Khaki King and Khaki Field) and a Intra Matic chrono panda which I love wearing....Keep nearly perfect time, all of them.... Excellent video, Thank you, Greg
Great video as always! Just for the record, there's absolutely nothing wrong with using double negatives as long as they actually Express what you meant and yours did, so you are perfectly fine 😃
Hey Britt, agree or not, I like your list a lot :) Just one minor correction - I merely look after the 41mm Alpine Eagle :D, and the bracelet does taper (from 23 to 20mm)
Another good GMT alternative is the Bulova Wilton GMT. The Miyota 9075 movement means it's a travel GMT, like the Rolex. However, very unlike the Rolex, it's under a thousand dollars US. Downside is that it's a big boy ay 43mm. The Longines Spirit Zulu looks nice too, but I can't speak from hands on experience with that one. Thanks again for another great video.
Hi Britt, you haven’t answered my question, yes I know you mentioned the Twelve,…. But what do you think of the CW diver elite? Especially for the price point!!
For chronographs, the Bulova Lunar Pilot is a great choice in the $500-$700 range. If you have the wrist for the 45mm, it's fantastic. The 43mm is quite nice, but the color combos are a bit iffy.
I recently purchased a Tudor Pelagos FXD and I love it. I have a few Rolex models and with the recent crime in my area, the Turdor flys below the radar.
I too own a CW The Twelve and still want an AP Royal Oak. The bracelet design on the AP is unique whereas a lot of brands that jumped on the integrated bandwagon look like they just slapped on their usual watch links and made integrated lugs.
I have the Duro and as a watch muggle appreciate it is quartz and is super accurate, and practically maintenance free. Just great that BP sees it as the affordable alternative to the Submariner - I couldn’t agree more!
@@robertmckinlay7242 weirdly, i like the dull lume when i wake up in the middle of the night - it is readable but not obnoxiously bright. Baume and Mercier Riviera deserves a place on the AP Royal Oak alternative list, as does the Bremont Supernova. Both very nice watches with a little more originality than the AP.
100p agreed 👍 everything about the pre ceramic Rolex Pepsi GMTS were nicer but the pop of the aluminum bezel just looks fantastic over the sterile ceramic
The Royal Oak is the most overhyped watch ever, I came to that conclusion after one year of ownership, but doesn't matter I still think it's the number one in my collection and it feels special eveytime I have it on my wrist, what's funny is my wife daily wears the Zenith to remind me everyday how overhyped the AP is 😂😅😊 speaking of the Nautilus the Sport Auto from LF is an awesome pick for sure but as you said production is very limited, myself I went for a H. MOSER Streamliner which thicks all the boxes for me while being way cheaper than any steel Nautilus.
Czapek Antarctique is a solid AP RO alternative (superior to it,in my opinion). More interesting movement, micro adjust on the bracelet, and cooler dials.
Wow, that Chopard GMT is a banger. Wish it was 38-40mm. And cheaper. For the Nautilus I would consider the Brew Metric, Trafford Crossroads, and Mido TV.
When I wanted a grail tool watch I looked at Explorer, Ranger, and ended up buying an Omega Railmaster. Great watch and what I chose over the other two.
Mido multifort TV Big Date is a heck of a watch as an alternative to the Aquanaut. Also the Casio EFR-S108D-2BV is an excellent affordable alternative to the Royal Oak. Quartz movement but sapphire crystal.
Great review and has opened my eyes to alternative brands as I’m shopping around for another watch. Was looking at the IWC Pilot 41” or Spitfire.
