This video makes me wonder alot. In Trinidad we have an issue with traffic. We had trains long ago and they have been out of order for decades. This video made me realise how important trains are and how essential they are in cutting traffic woes.
The stop at the Newark Penn station could trap alot of people so that was something great you highlighted. Nowadays most persons are unaware of their surrounding because headsets are always in their ears etc.
But another great video. For persons like me who want to learn your country, can you do uploads on the safer states, the more convenient states in terms of cost of vacationing (price of food, shopping etc).
Have a happy sunday Jen Jen!

I used EWR several times from London between 2002 and 2010. Would definitely recommend it over JFK which I had to use once.
The first time several large flights had just landed and the queues at immigration looked terrible; I thought it woulf take hours to get through, but they opened lots of extra desks for non.US citizens, and got through in about 15-20 minutes.
Customs was even quicker, handed over white card and was asked one question; about 10 seconds in total.
I was staying in Jersey City, so needed to take PATH to Journal Square. Had to take NJTransit just one stop to Newark Penn Station to get onto PATH. I wish they would either extend the Airtrain to Newark Penn Station, or extend PATH to the airport station to avoid having to change twice.
The one time I had to use JFK to return home on a Sunday morning was a nightmare. This was before Airtrain JFK opened.

I live in Elizabeth so we usually just take the train to Newark Penn Station from the North Elizabeth station and then just hop on the Path, transfer at the Journal Square station, headed towards 33rd and get off on 9th when we're hanging out by St. Marks or Alphabet City. Saves you a couple bucks too. There is no worse feeling than being stuck in the city waiting on a NJ Transit train back when you've missed the last one. I think all of us from Jersey can attest to that. Lol

Update: as of 2020, the AirTrain had a fair hike up to $7.75, making it not as cheap. However, there is a way to get to Manhattan for as low as $2.75, the cost of a Subway ticket, from JFK, or $4.35 from EWR.
To get from JFK to Manhattan:
    1. If you aren't already at Terminal 5, take the AirTrain there (no fare required between terminals).
    2. At Terminal 5, board the MTA Q10 Bus and take it to Lefferts Blvd & Liberty Ave.
    3. Transfer to the A Train (it's a free transfer) at Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd. The A Train goes nearly the entire length of Manhattan from the Financial District to Inwood.
To return to JFK from Manhattan:
    1. Take the A Train to Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd. Note that there are multiple A Train routes. You want the one to Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd, NOT Rockaway Park-Beach 116th St or Far Rockaway-Mott Ave.
    2. Transfer to the Q10 Bus (it's a free transfer) at Lefferts Blvd & Liberty Ave (right outside the station), and take it to JFK Terminal 5.
    3. If you're flight isn't in Terminal 5, take the AirTrain (free between terminals) to your terminal.
To get from EWR to Manhattan:
    1. From any terminal, take the NJ Transit Bus 62 to Newark Penn Station. The fare is $1.60.
    2. At Newark Penn Station, transfer to the PATH train. The fare is $2.75 and accepts MetroCards. Take the PATH to its eastern terminus at World Trade Center in Downtown Manhattan, in which you can transfer to the Subway to get you anywhere you need to go.
To return to EWR from Manhattan:
    1. At World Trade Center, take the PATH train to Newark Penn Station.
    2. At Newark Penn Station, transfer to NJ Transit Bus 62 to EWR.
I highly recommend you make an updated video, so you can save even more money.

Hey Jenn! First of all thanks for the video. I’m actually traveling to Newark this Saturday and will be there for a few hours between flights. If my plane arrives at 7:48 am and my other flight departs at 10:43 pm. Do you think I have enough time to go to Penn Station in NY and be back in Newark in time for my 10:43 pm flight considering check in and security lines. I won’t have a suitcase so check in will depend on how many people there are. I think so but I want to make sure by asking someone who’s taken the trip. The other thing I was considering is taking a Lyft or Uber to Sacred Heart Cathedral which is like 15 minutes from Newark Airport without traffic. Which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

I take NJ Transit (trains generally run every hour or so -- more often during rush hour) from Penn Station to Newark Airport then the monorail to the terminals. IMO, that's the easiest way that's not too expensive. Amtrak is more expensive and way more comfortable, but Amtrak only runs a few trains a day and it's a short train ride so the comfort improvement isn't that big a deal. If you're Trump, you take a cab or hire a car to take you.

    • @Jenniferobrien
      @Jenniferobrien  5 лет назад +1
