- If you have a favorite superhero, action movie star, or anime character, there is probably a gold coin or silver bar that features them. But these items usually have a big premium, and eventually finding a buyer might be more difficult than you think.
Join me as we take a dive into "novelty" bullion and discuss the joys, the pitfalls, and some pointers to help you if you are considering adding these pieces to your precious metals stack!
love the bottle cap. thxs for showing us. love the vidz keep it up.
Man! This is one of the best videos on this topic! Thanks for the info brother!
I swear to God..one of,if not the best video I've seen on this subject..Thank you sir, I really enjoyed that..
Hey thanks! I really appreciate that.
Love the coca cola one didnt even know it was available. Think I will pick one up...with all the extras of course. Thanks White!
I was bitten by the collector bug at a very young age; my grandmother was an antique dealer. As a young adult my antique pocket knife collection of 295 knives was stolen by a "friend" and my rogue wife fed my coin collection into various cigarette machines while I was at work. I still have a few old trinkets laying around but the collector in me has pretty munch been quenched. I'm just a stacker now. Although I did enjoyed your video.
That sucks! But I'm glad you can still get enjoyment out of the hobby and videos. Nothing wrong with focusing on stacking!
Great one, WC!!! I had to watch it twice. Rule #1 Have fun with it. 😊 I think your points on cross-niching, i.e., "Silver and..." X. Where X=Star Wars, John Wick or Coke " are spot on. All elegantly well put. Well done!
Thanks!
I got one for 36.00 non-slabbed, but I love it. I have a Pepsi too
I like the art bars that bring back memories of my younger days.
Just found your channel - a really informative, sensible analysis. Thank you. Commentary on semi-numismatic bullion or ‘art coins’ as well would be good if you’re taking requests 🙂👍
That's a great topic! I touch on those types of pieces briefly in an early video. But it's definitely a topic worth revisiting! You'll find that earlier video here:

@@Dub-C_Coins Thank you!
Novelty bullion and coins can be fun if they fit the buyer's pre-existing interests -- comics, disney, celebrities, dragons, patriotism, history, world religions, political events, holidays, and so forth. What i don't find healthy are the novelties with mintages of under 1,000 that come in fancy boxes with COAs that are simply intended to create false scarcity.
Good point. The pieces intentionally manufactured as a "collectible" are often the ones that wind up with the least collectability.
This is exactly the situation of the trading card market right now. I'm cashing out of my Magic the Gathering cards because of this. It's all happened before (Junk Wax era of sports cards); it will all happen again.
@@kotto7877 There's an old saying: Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.
I understand the appeal of some of these novelty bars (I own a few myself), but what I really have a hard time wrapping my head around are the collectors who's entire stack consists of poured skulls, figurines, trinkets, etc. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with these types of pieces, but when I see pics in forums where people have their kitchen table covered in these types of things, it makes me cringe at the thought of them having to sell.
Right there with you. I understand it's a choice. But I worry about that exit strategy.
Be careful when investing in collector premiums bullion, nearly all fall flat in values. Cheers WC and thanks for sharing this video ✌🏻😊
I wouldn't advise making your whole stack these but if you like something...
Ive got a norman rockwell moments 1500 grain bars ten count set just shy of a kilo. Harks back to a no cell phoones time.
Collectable's value is precarious indeed.
Unfortunately when I first started stacking/collecting I bought a lot premium silver on the thought I would flip on EBay. But I became a paralyzed seller and now most of them are past their time.
Words of wisdom!
The heart wants what the heart wants ❤️👍
That's true. But the hands and the wallet don't have to play along! :)
@@Dub-C_Coins Who are you to say?
I won a Mountain Dew and a Coke bottle cap - I immediately sent them to auction -in hopes of striking now instead of 10 years from now - wonder if it was the right choice
Never a bad idea to walk with $ in your pocket. I fully approve!
Much younger lol😂
Money talks. It's worth what it buys and sells for. Opinions are irrelevant.
