One of the most underrated skills is that of the accompanist and Dudley and the guys nail it. Can you imagine a star as big as Dudley, playing second fiddle (piano) to another star (with that God given voice of course) as beautifully and graciously in today's self obsessed culture? 4 great musicians doing what true musicians do, make lovely music and park their egos at the door
Those were the days when Television in the UK took an eclectic view of music and your license fee was worth the money. Marion was one hell of a good singer, great control and lovely sultry voice.
Not long before she died, Marion made a beautiful CD with just about the greatest version ever of "Lazy Afternoon". That song was made for her beautiful voice. She was a unique talent.
The Natchez Nightingale looks like she's sporting a bit of a baby bump. Her daughter Abigail was born in February, 1967. This is so fantastic! Love Marion's singing.
WOW...fifty years around Jazz and I never heard of her until this year...what a wonderful talent...I wish I had heard her from the beginning of her career.
Love all kinds of jazz and it's improvisations but this kind of sultry smooth version is my favourite form..where's my saxophone , I want to sit in on this one....even many years later.........
Charles Rothwell I met Ms Montgomery in 1971 or 2 - she was at Wakefield Theatre Club and took time out to visit the QEGS 'jazz club', which met in a flat in St John's Sq., She was captivating!
I never attended the QEGS Jazz Club but I do remember seeing some acts at the Wakefield Variety Club: Ray Charles, Buddy Rich and Kenny Ball. May have been others but it was some time ago now!
@@edgreenhalgh6890 hahahahaa....at 77 years old thought I'd heard it all....please, MAY I use that one sometime myself? "sex thimble"...oh my!!! LOL!!! THANKS!!!!

I know I could get my guitar in there somewhere..!!!!
Sublime presentation.
Great! (Even worth sitting through Cook's cringe-inducing cod-French intro.!)

Yes! Even in my teens, a front seat just of Donny Road promised very high quality entertainment :-)
Ah, wonderful singing and playing.
Beautiful. And Dudley's loving it!
I just love how she holds notes *off" the notes for so long.
Just wonderful
why are there so few videos of this stellar talent??????!!!!!
Too jazzy--regular listeners don't like the jazz tone.
@@MrRickywallace A pity they don't feel the same way about rap. Has there ever been a more puerile "music" than that?
Just lovely immortal stuff...😁💕🥂🇬🇧
Absolutely Delightful.

What was that chord in the end? Dudley, once a comedian.......
Gb7 #11 (Gb7 in left hand and Ab major chord in right hand)
. . music commences 0:17
Just after a ghastly unintelligible introduction.
@LargeMarge It's a joke, innit mate. Sorry you didn't get it. Peter Cooke the funniest Englishman since Chaplin (actually I prefer Stan Laurel).

He WAS known as 'The sex thimble'
